  1. I've actually coached quarterbacks for a living for 11 years and attended at least 76 camps, and I say you're wrong.

  3. What you should do is start your own blog about QB coaching. The world needs to have access to your knowledge. You could probably become famous and make some money off of it to supplement the social security. You could even set up your own QB coaching seminars. Travel to various cities teaching HS and college coaches the finer points of QB coaching.

  4. @SECHusker Ozigbo was the starter by game 4, and had a decent number of carries in the 3 games before that - he wasn't riding the pine half the season.

  5. Not to brag but I was this guy's QB coach for years.

  6. Somebody earlier in this thread said "how do you reconcile the Rutgers game of 2020," referring to Martinez's four turnovers. I mean...we won that game? So I guess the way I reconcile it was he, the offensive line, and Mills overcame the turnovers and wound up winning anyway. We can cherry pick games to fit an argument all day of course, but I look more at games like Minnesota last year. Martinez had 96 yards rushing, threw for a 59% completion, and had one fumble. Our other three RBs had a combined 101 yards rushing. Something's kind of wrong with that. McNuggets comes in for one series and throws an interception. When Minnesota was driving late in the 2nd quarter I believe we had a dumb penalty on defense that gave them a first down. We also missed a 30 yard field goal. Martinez needs to cut down on the turnovers. But I'm addressing the posts that seem to indicate that Martinez's play is the thing that's holding us back from going 8-4 or something. I just really disagree with that sentiment.

  10. Accusing someone of living a sheltered life and then busting out a "I know more than you" later in the post when you can't convincingly defend what you're saying is just so, so rich.

  11. Hasn't the border always been a disaster, we just take turns blaming the other party for it as they take over the executive branch.

  14. How big is your DVD collection? Did you buy a waterbed without financing? That's awesome! 12 years and 77 camps for me, but great for you.

  15. Ozigbo had 90 yards on 29 carries the 3 games before he became a starter. Bell had 33 for 171 in those 3 games. I'm not really sure this example proves your point.

  16. We know this for sure? Have you seen Smothers play in a college football game? Damn get a life, you're criticizing an 18 year old who hasn't played a collegiate snap. History doesn't matter, Schiano is back and he's going to get them playing hard again.

  17. My take, there is no "how to open schools safely" that is not a thing. You either open the school like normal or you do remote. Those are the options.

  18. This is a 30 for 30. In 15 years people will look back at this with a lot of different reactions. I think it is a great idea. I also think everyone that posts here would watch it. Good lord, they cancelled basketball tournaments at halftime! Don't let your stupid politics get in the way of a story that is still being told.

  19. I think we keep having losing seasons because we shank punts 12 yards, let the other team run the ball back to their own 35-40 on kickoffs, and have kick returners that don't know when to take the touchback and get the ball on the 25. We keep having losing seasons because of untimely penalties and because we snap the ball over the QB's head. Special teams and boneheaded penalties are the two top reasons. We were 5th in offensive yards per game last year, but these two things make our points scored per yard gained average pretty bad. Those things aren't on Martinez. He needs to do better with securing the ball when he's falling forward for rushing yards...but he had only thrown one interception heading into that Rutgers game. And benching him was such a dumb move by Frost...McNuggets goes in there and then has four turnovers against Illinois and we lose in embarrassing fashion...with one of those turnovers coming on a bizarre and panicked lateral on the first play of the game.

  20. That zone read play that everyone runs, Urban Meyer said his staff at BGSU came up with it when one of his OL did the wrong thing and his QB messed up, on the same play, they said when they watched it on film they saw how it influenced the defense. A HS team I coached had two guards that were probably the dumbest kids in school. They never knew when to pull or which direction to go and I swear on film you could see the other teams defense react really slow. Ha.

  22. The border is similar to most other political topics - it's useful as a tool of criticism against the team you like, even though it affects your life very little to none at all (for most of us).

  23. Im retired now- but Im guessing I coached QBs for a living for at least 10 years more than you ever did > and attended at least 75 more QB camps and clinics as well. But yeah- we probably know the same amount of stuff Like I said doesn't seem like many think Verduzco has much to do with our lack of QB Development. That would seem to mean our QBs should just be on their own- coach themselves. Heck we could get that full time special teams coach we need so badly or just save the $400K the opera man gets.

  24. BYU just landed a deal with Built Bars where they will pay every player, including walk-ons, the equivalent of a year of tuition each year https://www.deseret.com/2021/8/12/22621917/byu-football-lands-nil-built-bar-brands-deal-for-players-nick-greer-kalani-sitake-scott-warner-gigg

  25. Nope- living in the reality that "hatred" according to some is pointing out our QB development is statistically lacking by any meaningful metric. Without using a single insulting, personal attack or curse word to do so. The HORROR of saying something as evil as his arm strength is poor and he locks in on receivers. I'm feeling so bad for being guilty of such a horrific "hate crime"= ,man some people have never been around the block- its so very sad to be at this level of whimpiness. I fear for our country.

  29. Rutgers was 3-6 last year. 31 teams last year were worse, so maybe not the worst. Also I didn't realize the spring game was was a collegiate game. Let's see what he can do when he's not practicing. Alright? Regardless of how old he is, he's still a kid who's in college and you're hating on him. Maybe we should hire you as a QB coach since you know so much. Well actually you'd already be one if you were THAT great.

  32. Unfortunately- like last season Adrian is still our best choice to win games. Luke and Smothers are the same non QB guy with different names and Haarberg is a C1 project, not anywhere close to being ready to play in the BIG That is an indictment on our coaches ability to evaluate and choose legitimate QBs and of course the coaching staffs lack in ability in developing said QBs. The cherry on top is never bothering to pick up or even seriously consider QBs in the transfer portal who have gone on to great things because "they aint better than what we got" At least a transfer would have gotten the benefit of being coached by someone other than Verduzco/

  34. My post had more to do with the amount of oil consumed on a daily basis. As far as oil production, I have not heard of them producing oil. Most of the oil in that region comes from Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the countries around the Persian Gulf. There very well could be oil in Afghanistan but it isn't being tapped due to the logistics part of it.

  36. One players take- There were some on the team that really wanted Luke to get his shot. When you are losing, as a coach it's never a bad idea to try to find that spark. Luke provided that for a bit so his supporters got louder temporarily. It basically had to happen - he got his shot and failed so in a sense it unified everyone back behind #2.
