  1. I wouldn't hate bringing in Thompson from UT. He had a 3 game stretch all against top 15 teams, where he threw for 8 TDs 3 INT and averaged 290 yards. Seems like everyone at UT praises him as a person. It was also his first year starting and sounds like he was dealing with a hand injury. Don't see why anyone would be against bringing in a guy who held his own in big time games, and would be a positive influence in the locker room.

  2. Care to elaborate? Was this in response to the post about slavery? Because it was absolutely about one race oppressing a victim race. There are hundreds of years of laws documenting it.

  3. The fan base was clamoring for someone - ANYONE - other than Adrian. Wouldn't surprise me if Trev hinted to Frost that in addition to staff changes, there were some other changes that needed to be made, as well. A big debate has always been who the real problem is, Frost or Martinez. We're about to find out.

  6. I think there's a big shift in that direction. Much less stigma among the white collar and middle class about sending kids to trade schools and community colleges. I also think you have to lay a significant portion of the 2008 credit crisis on people who bought homes they couldn't afford. Mortgage brokers were pushing dangerously attractive ARMS --- like every salesman does -- but consumers needed to exercise personal caution -- like they always do. $200,000 worth of college tuition is going to be a bad bet more often than not if you're borrowing money for it.

  7. Telling students that black people were victims who were oppressed by white people isn't CRT. That's a simple fact of history. Segregation in the south has existed up until recently, heck some older posters on this message board were alive as very young kids/infants in the 1960s when this was occuring. But I understand, being neck deep in the MAGAverse means we craft our own realities. On behalf of everybody who lives in reality, (Climate change is real and caused by people, systemic racism is real and contributes to negative outcomes for minorities, etc.) I want to thank voters like you for making the destruction of this country at least entertaining. It'd be a shame if it were boring, but fortunately we have conservative Republicans steering us into the abyss and at least their insanity is at least funny.

  17. Because I think we should listen to what the President says, as do you (I think), While Commnado (Great movie) does not. so we are trying to figure out why/when to decide to listen.

  18. I think "mess" overstates it a bit - NZ is still outperforming many if not most countries. They are having a "spike" now vs. where they were a few months ago but they've had a TOTAL of ~13,000 cases and only 50 deaths TOTAL.

  19. what if the states hadn't fought the vax mandate and people had complied. we would have herd immunity now thanks to a national government action. but since the states are determined to keep this thing going here we are.

  20. I think you missed the whole point. candidate Joe says the national government should solve this (when he’s not in charge) President Joe says it’s actually a State issue and National government can’t stop it. (Now that he’s in charge).

  21. Telling students that black people were victims who were oppressed by white people isn't CRT. That's a simple fact of history Ya no kidding. I never said it was CRT. What I did say was that teaching a lesson that insinuates slavery didn’t exist or wasn’t as bad as it actually was is bad. Full stop. next point of what I said is teaching CRT is bad. Full stop. I never once equated the two together other than to say both teachings are bad. Why are you trying so so hard to say that I think they are related in other ways? It’s a thing you constantly do and still never makes sense.

  22. I didn’t get that from the tweet but why would he be broken up? Can’t blame him it all for taking the O job. More money, more job security at a program that is in a much better place than NU is right now. Really he should be tickled pink to have that opportunity.

  23. You can wrap alt right conspiracy theories into vax compliance with one factually accurate take: COVID-19 is killing more Republican voters than Democrat voters. I honestly think that's why some party stalwarts have made the adjustments. Alex Jones is clinically mad.

  24. Not really much of a down side to bringing him in. He may or may not be the guy, but outside of Ward, he is my pick if we are going to seriously go after a portal guy

  27. I feel you but the thing is how did Martinez look as a freshman? Like he had the IT factor. Smothers played well for 3.5 quarters with a gameplan that played to his strengths and protected a freshman starting his first game against one of the best defenses in the country. Smothers looked very promising imo. I think we could win with him at the helm. But to say he has the IT factor and Martinez doesn't based on that performance is a stretch to say the least. He turned it over twice in crunch time, usually Martinez only does it once. Also that last one was pretty aweful. Martinez makes some bad mistakes but I can't him see him throwing one away in that fashion(give him one more chance he'd probably prove me wrong lol) All that said, I like Smothers and I think there are more important targets in the portal. We need to sure up the OL. If we didn't get a transfer QB I wouldn't be too worried honestly. Smothers can do some great things and with Whipple coaching him up I think there is alot more potential there than people are expecting out of him.

  28. It sounds like you take offense to anything. I don't have anything against you. I answered your question. He will be important to us. Does that make him a superstar or special player? Maybe not but there is only a handful of those players anyway. A huge get isn't always a special player. They could just be a good player at a position of need. This isn't the first time you've felt I have a problem with you. I don't. This is a forum where we are here to discuss and at times disagree.

  29. I’ve made my thoughts known on this before. Kids should have the option after sophomore year to either choose a “university” route or a “trades” route. When they graduate after Senior year they either have a certification in a trade or their gen Ed’s are done towards a college degree With the current workforce situation we’re in, it’s insane that free trade school isn’t part of the infrastructure build. Folks are really going to hate the price of home repairs in a few short years, if not already!

  30. https://video.foxnews.com/v/6288732044001#sp=show-clips This is a very good interview and summary of where we are right now and some of things that need to be done better moving forward like increasing the availability of testing, absolutely keeping schools open. Also a snippet in Pfizer's new drug Paxlovid vs. Merck's and on whether a four shot will be needed

  33. You really should drop the martyr complex. It would go a long way towards more civil discussion. There was absolutely nothing wrong with what @Nebfanatic asked you, stated or the way he asked. Seriously, trying to help. But I’m sure you’ll take it as being for some nefarious purpose.

  34. I mean ... Iowa had the B1G Defensive Back of the Year, two DBs on the All-B1G first-team and a third that was on the second team. I don't know if he's going to face many more "elite" DBs than he did that game.

  35. I don’t think anyone really understands what you are talking about at this point. Whats actually funny is you trying to tell me what I’m equating CRT to when I’ve actually spelled it out in a past discussing with another poster. Multiple paragraphs on it actually. So instead of you telling me what I’m saying, why don’t you just read what I’m actually putting on the site and go from there. And how you got to this point from me saying both the teaching of a false slavery narrative and the teaching of CRT is quite amazing

  38. for the national good it would be right for everyone who can to take the vax. but 1 party has done everything in their power to push back against that idea. what is good for all americans...is what they are pushing back against.

  39. It's definitely a difficult question. We could have avoided this by subsidizing college to keep expenses down like the Baby Boomers enjoyed, but we didn't so here we are. Personally, I'd fine with reimbursing everyone. Or doing a proportional reimbursement based on number of years since graduation or something like that. I'm open to suggestions, but I think throwing our hands up and saying everyone who had to take out loans for college are screwed is a terrible choice as it's going to affect our economy for decades (not that that's what you are suggesting). So you're advocating for only those rich enough to be college educated since the alternative to taking the loan is to not afford college. I strongly disagree. I don't think you actually understand that education is important to society as a whole given your previous statement.
