  1. Some of us don’t want to just sit down and take it any more. Why do we continue to accept awful results?! Hold people accountable, criticize their mistakes, stop going to the stadium - maybe our actions can drive change and cause the wake up call we need. As much of a sh** show the Tennessee Schiano situation was - their fans’ refusal to accept him WORKED for them. We NEED to start spending more on talent and we need to do it immediately. Sitting, waiting and wishing while justifying bad football along the way is killing us (or may have already killed us). Trev, Rhule and crew need a fire lit under their a**es.

  2. Lot to dig through here. He just orchestrated the largest event in womens sports history. Hes not the football coach. He hired a guy that has the resume to fix two decades of poor performance. This team is literally 1 player from being 2-0. It hurts, but reality is the most of the team is much improved.

  3. Explain how… We’re 0-2, looking at a 3-win season. We really expect our fans to keep showing up for those performances and that recruits will still want to come here? We have a one-dimensional offense with no QB options, the same atrocious OL led by the same atrocious OL coach as last year (one of our OTs scored a ZERO for pass blocking from PFF last week) and a below average WR corp at best (led by a 26 year old that never played the position). We’re delusional to think we’re headed in the right direction. We point to Rhule’s track record, but I see a similar career at temple as his mentor Al Golden and one flash-in-the-pan season at Baylor in a weak Big 12 where Baylor didn’t beat one ranked team. Rhule’s career record and winning percentage is eerily similar to Riley’s, but somehow we assume he’s at a different tier of capability. Trev choose this. He chose this over a 3x national championship winning coach. He chose this over an elite recruiter that just beat us with a team that had one win last year. He chose a no-name staff that hasn’t shown any real urgency to upgrade our below average roster through the portal and NIL. Bury your heads in the sand, but the way we’re trending, in 3-4 years we’ll be looking at another coaching change led by a new AD because Trev got this pick wrong. Our fan support won’t continue forever if we keep losing - we’re close to losing it this season.

  5. Well that answers that. We now know where the craze in corncraze comes from.

  6. I agree. Serious programs hire coaches who are in between jobs for roles like this. Nebraska has always hired no names and recent college graduates.

  8. No thanks. Coach Sanders is full of himself. And that's the example he sets for his sons and team. I wouldn't want him anywhere near a team I support. Everything is taken so personally. It's laughable.

  9. It's all part of his plan to cut the football program like he did in Omaha, so he can give the stadium to the vollyball team.

  10. Our program has been on life support these last few years and did/does not have the luxury of being able to grit through a long rebuild strategy that may not even payoff. More losing seasons = slipping further and further into irrelevancy, more fan disengagement (especially the younger generations), lower perception and less interest from high talent athletes, less resources, etc. We have been in desperate need of a something/anything to re-energize our fan base and recruits FAST. Rhule’s hire, given his slow build track record, was a risk for Trev. So was not fully embracing NIL and using one of the few potential advantages our program has to improve our talent pool. Hidden-gem identification and player development is not what we needed - nor may it ever be the solution to get us back into a top 10-15 program. Most mid- to bottom-level programs try to operate this way. Difference is most schools don’t have the same financial resources we have to take advantage of NIL. Nebraska needed an elite recruiter that embraces NIL and operates with deep urgency to improve our roster quickly. Success builds on success - buy more talent to start winning games now and we become more appealing to future recruiting classes. Urban definitely could have, Deion has shown he would have, etc. TALENT is what wins games above anything else - and we dont have enough of it. It boggles my mind Trev didn’t recognize and prioritize this. Trev may have had one final shot to save this program, and it’s looking like he floundered the opportunity. But thank goodness we’ll have $300-700M in beautiful stadium updates - it will look real nice half-filled on a BTN mid-day broadcast.

  11. The Scott Frost experiment clearly showed that being an alumni was not enough to get the job done. Same with Trev. Was he really the right guy, or did t just feel good at the time? Like Frost, Trev was going to be the savior………not so much. The Rhule pressers sounds just like Frost. Great practices, guys are buying into the program, we are just a couple of plays away from winning, yada, yada, yada. He says it will take a few years? Maybe in the old days! With the portal and NIL, Colorado has proven that a turnaround can happen FAST. Frankly, I would pin that decision making squarely on Trev Alberts. I really hope that the next coach will be better.

  12. This definitely doesn’t need a new thread. It’s been two games and he is a true freshman. I think they will play them when he is ready or when there is no chance at making a bowl game. The offense is awful at every position. This could go down as one of the worst Nebraska offenses in the past 20-30 years. Coleman isn’t saving that.

  13. If you put someone on the ignore list does it make the idiotic useless threads they post disappear too? If not can we take people's ability to create new posts if they have proven to not mature enough to handle it because every loss it brings a wave of these terrible topics.

  14. A lot of really good teams struggled yesterday. Legitimate top 20 programs with realistic eyes on contending. The NIL and Portal have changed college football in more ways than some think. An easy fix, sometimes. More pressure, definitely. More impatience, certainly. Harder to develop chemistry early with some being paid, others not, friends gone, new players - unfamiliar with surroundings, new culture, crazy fans… Fans are fanatical. That’s the root of the word. If they ran a program they would have every player, coach and administrator fired each week, for some reason, in every sport from pee wee to the pros. Does free agency always produce exceptional and immediate results in the NFL? Not even close. You have to still build through the draft, just as in college you do in recruitment. College is more and more like the NFL and this adjustment is only getting started. Relax. We were not good at all last year and we didn’t play a warm-up cookie game. This defense has done an amazing job. They shutdown Minnesota all game and Colorado for a half. Colorado didn’t make great adjustments, they had short fields and eventually our D was gassed. They pressured all game. We all agree the QB play was a debacle. We cannot make it a place the next transfer or recruit passes on us. Having a top 25 class, and I think it could creep even a little higher, is amazing. .

  15. Let’s not forget this coaching staff created this situation. They evaluated Sims and somehow saw past his NCAA-leading turnover resume. They drove off Thompson, a serviceable QB, and didn’t bring in another qb in last year’s class. While Frost failed at the QB position and a lot of this roster he is responsible for, even he knew he needed to take two transfer QBs last year.

  16. I’m so tired of the “we were a few plays away from being an X win team.” We’ve made that excuse for years and look where it’s gotten us. That’s a loser’s mentality. Also look at the final score, CU beat us by 3 possessions. also you’re giving Trev way too much credit for volleyball. Most ADs would’ve been able to orchestrate the same event with our fan base. Eichorst, awful as he was, would likely have been able to make this happen too. Cook and the fantastic job he does is the reason we have the fan support to accomplish something like that.

  17. I learned that Colorado could be penalized more often than Nebraska and it still wouldn't shut up Husker Board's ref conspiracy theorists.

  18. if we had a competent QB we might be 2-0 right now.

  19. If neither QB is better than Sims, all three need to be processed out next year. Zero reason to keep them around if they can’t bear out a guy with Sims’ turnover to touchdown ratio.

  20. I don't think Trev is in over his head, in fact, 4 months ago that is what people said about the CU president. There are/were almost no perfect hires out there after Frost was canned. Urban Meyer was about it (I also think Gus Malzhan and that old Ole Miss coach who is at Auburn) but clearly even those two were not "can't miss".

  21. Can we get serious about a post threshold before starting topics? This drivel makes it so nobody wants to be here.

  22. When I see these types of bulls#!t threads, I think about putting some Husker fans in a headlock. Real tight. And keep tapping their forehead until they cry it out of their system. It's football. They won. We lost. We need improvement. 2 games on the road. Did our best. Grow a pair. Or do something else.

  23. We’re all frustrated and unhappy. Direct that at me and fans like me if you want, brush off our opinions, ignore the results you saw yesterday, ignore the differences we’ve seen between us and CU, pretend things are ok. Unless things change, all of us are going to continue to be miserable from the poor results we see on the field - assuming we even keep watching.

  26. That's true, somebody in the MAGA horde will be in the jury and won't convict him even with a full confession, witnesses, well documented evidence and Trump personally telling them to their face that he did it all. I mean, look at your post history as evidence. The cognitive dissonance of Trump voters is a psychological sight to behold.

  30. Ok for a more serious reply than my last. I said this yesterday. I have mixed feelings. I think the team as a whole plays harder than I’ve seen in a while. The Defense is much improved. Special teams not a total dumpster fire anymore. I even see Oline improvement. Look at our ground numbers through two games. Rhule isn’t making excuses and throwing players under the bus like Frost. He sat at that presser yesterday and put the turnovers on himself. I think the kids want to play hard for him. These are all positives. The team is realistically a QB short of being a bowl team this year. The results may be the same but progress is being made IMO. I’m not giving up on Rhule yet. He inherited an ungodly mess and in a lot of areas has already fix things. Unfortunately his one big mistake was going all in on Sims and that’s going to cost him this year.

  31. It won’t. This is a pretty thin team with some good skill position players that will get exposed when they play a decent team.

  32. Is this even topic if the QB didn’t have a social media worthy epic fail? One thing I found interesting yesterday is that none of the coverage I saw even covered what happened. I heard several times that “The D forced turnovers” & “took the ball away”. I also heard the offense made “half time adjustments”. Deion = viewers and THEY HAVE to run with it. The only fail here, and I’ll admit it’s a big one, is going with Sims. He’s going to make a few big plays this year. Possibly even have a mistake free game. But it’s over. He’s not even close to championship level and the team will only go as he goes.

  35. They didn’t. It’s just more fun to say it like that. Thompson was out for the spring. There wasn’t even a guarantee he’d be ready this fall. So they wanted to bring someone else in. Thompson didn’t like it and left.

  36. ehhhh Tmart completed like 64% of his passes. He should get way more credit than most fans give him.

  37. There’s 2 or 3 coaches max that could change the roster the way Sanders did. Heck maybe only Deion himself. So the response is to piss and moan all over the place because we didn’t get one of the few coaches that could even think about pulling that maneuver? And then it gets put in a thread about Trev being in over his head? Bulls#!t. I understand being unhappy with our results for the last two decades but I think all these threads b!^@hing because Rhule isn’t Sanders are ridiculous. Deion will be at CU for about 3 years max (same as he would’ve been at NU). Personally I’m not a fan of the look at me Prime approach even if it is yielding short term results. Here’s an idea. Anybody that loves Deion that much can become a CU fan. The rest of us will get over it.

  41. You think people actually enjoy doing this? I would give anything to be a good football team and talk positively about the program. But there isnt much to be positive about these days and it is nice to be able to vent the frustrations a little.

  42. Sheezus.. you're really blaming the AD for our football woes? Long or short term that's nonsense. Good coaches come in and are generally autonomous; they put their staff and recruits in place and get to work. If an AD is ever responsible for the W/L column, then it's because he or she is interfering with that process, and as far as we know Trev stays out of it altogether (caveat that we do not know what goes on in his personal life wrt that) or because he or she has some personal issue with the coach. Yes we endured Peterson wrecking things for a while (I won't bring up him firing Solich even though Solich's 58 wins during his first six seasons as Nebraska's head coach exceeded that of his two predecessors.. oops, I did bring it up). Believe me, Steve Peterson was no Trev Alberts as to character. He did not even hire a search team as he planned to get rid of one of Nebraska's best coaches, just daydreamed about getting Spurier etc.

  43. Ha. I thought I was screwed on that 3 teamer. Oregon kicked a FG to go up 31-30 with 1:14 left in the game, then some how lucked into a pick six with 45 seconds left to cover. Ten times out of ten that player will make the pick and then go to the ground and let his offense run out the clock. I’d already written it off as a loss and wasn’t paying attention any longer.

  44. For those that may not remember, Brenda Tracy is the one who was gang raped by 3 football players (plus another) at Oregon State while MR was their coach. She came and spoke to our team when MR was here. It takes an extra special level of stupid for Mel Tucker to be involved in this in any manner whatsoever. He admits to masturbating on a phone call with her but says it was consensual……..WTAF? Why? Why? Why? She might be the very last person on the face of the earth you would want to do anything of the sort with. S.T.U.P.I.D.

  45. And what exactly have “physically gifted” quarterbacks gotten us in the past 8 years? Meanwhile Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois keep destroying Nebraska with their unathletic, inaccurate game managers again, it’s not about athletic ability. It’s about procedural and crunch time reliability.

  46. Why is it Nebraska either can’t spot talent or talent won’t come here? I remember watching Wyoming when we played Josh Allen and questioning how the hell Wyoming can get a qb like that and we can’t. I watch college teams all day long not just high lights and I see small teams or irrelevant teams with qbs that can scramble when needed and throw the ball well. Why can’t we have a stable of those Guys. Don’t we have the facilities kids would love? Fan support? Money? I just don’t get it.
