  1. It is hard for me to rationally think that 97 Michigan beats 97 Nebraska. I always go to Peyton Manning vs. Ryan Leaf. The Huskers dominated Tennessee. Michigan was behind going into the 4th quarter. Michigan people see it as a nod to Osborne, I see it as also a nod to the better team. Here are the stats of that RoseBowl.

  2. Absolute hose job at the end of the game with that spike. Don’t know why that never gets much attention. Manning - Leaf is the obvious comparison. But that Tennessee team was stacked. Manning, Jamal Lewis, Peerless Price, Marcus Nash, Cedric Wilson, Shaun Ellis, Terry Fair, Leonard Little. A 5 point win over a team whose best player was one of the biggest NFL busts of all time… Or an absolute beatdown of a team stacked with NFL talent, draft picks and one of the best QB’s to ever play the game. It’s not close.

  3. I always look at it this way. Michigan's best player that year was a CB. Who was he going to shut down? Our star Receiver? Tennessee was loaded with NFL talent that year and they got smoked. Pretty sure Michigan's fate would have been the same.

  4. The fact that you were playing intramurals does nothing to negate the fact that our actual football team would have stomped an absolute f#%king mudhole in your friend and the rest of his Michigan teammates that year.

  5. And so if Husker fans have the same complaints about their QB as they do about the Heisman runner-up.....

  6. Here's the audio of it. And, let's remember, during his impeachment hearings, his lawyers argued that he shouldn't be impeached because the legal system will take care of it after he leaves office.

  7. Also, they never played the last two seconds of the Rose Bowl. WSU should have had one throw into the end zone.

  10. Amazing what a little good old fashioned cheating can help accomplish. IMO, Michigan’s last two titles both have a big ole asterisk by them. 97 because everyone who is not a Meatchicken homer knows Nebraska was the better team that year and would’ve destroyed them. And this year because of all the cheating and rule breaking they apparently needed to engage in to seal the deal.

  11. If Washington played our schedule this season they're 11-1. I'm 100% sure the spread offense works in any conference as long as you protect the QB. Penix was a bit off tonight, unfortunately for him and all of us. But you're right that Michigan did well in the trenches, no arguments there.

  12. I followed the box score until about eight minutes left in the first half and then listened to Kent Pavelka and he brought it home with an always entertaining Kent call. Amazing win for Nebrasketball. To all those true believers who stuck with this team through all kinds of lows, this one is for you. I’ve been discouraged in the past and kept hoping that someday we would have a fun season and go dancing in March. Lots of work to do, but tonight is special in Lincoln. Very Special. GBR!

  13. You guys can poo poo cheating and rule breaking all you want but those rules exist for a reason and the teams/coaches that get caught breaking them can rightfully be called cheaters and have their accomplishments questioned because of it. It’s a load of horses#!t to dismiss it by saying everyone does it. If that were true there would be a whole lot more people caught doing it. So get out of here with that crap. Everyone speeds when they drive, doesn’t mean the ones who get caught aren’t breaking the law and don’t have to pay the consequences. And I never said Harbaugh couldn’t coach or win or that Michigan was no good. I just pointed out that they cheated and that’s a fact. And, btw, the way they went about stealing signs is not legal. They know it and the rule book knows it. They also broke recruiting contact rules and coaching limits. You can’t say “oh they just went a little too far”. That’s bulls#!t. Should everyone just ignore all the rules and limits?

  15. There's no way this flies. Trump's lawyers are twisting the current interpretation of presidential immunity into a pretzel. It's pretty commonly assumed (though it's never been ruled on that I know of) that a sitting president could not be tried until first impeached and convicted. I don't think anybody assumes that a former president couldn't be tried if he escaped a trial in congress. The only conceivable way I could see that happening is if they could some how successfully argue that the chargers relate to official duties of the office (foreign negotiations, signing legislation, etc.).

  16. Everyone steals signs, because it is legal. They went too far, and were slapped on the wrist for it. Everyone pushes the boundaries on recruiting also, don't kid yourself there. They were the best team, and they beat the hardest teams on their schedule after the sign stealing bit came out. They deserve this title. Harbaugh can flat out coach, no matter what you think of him. Wins everywhere he goes.

  19. Meh....it was one game against a very good defense. He did make some bad throws to wide open WRs. But, I would look at his entire season and not just this game. Also, it was clear that at some point in the game, he got injured. I thought it looked like a rib injury.

  21. I look at things this way with all politicians. They don't really want anything to get better, because if it does, they have nothing to fear monger about. Republicans were actually hurt by the SC ruling on abortion. It was better for them back before when it was an issue hanging out there to use. When it got used against them? It changed the middle. I actually know Pro-Life Ohioans that voted the Heart Beat amendment down, because they believed it went too far. Do I think the economy is great? I don't. interest rates are hurting me and we have had to change our habits and behaviors. My 3 kids can't afford to buy a house. I could and did at their age. We are in the same profession. Private school teachers.

  30. Good point. I've finally come to grips with it as time moves on. However, it's an interesting rabbit hole to go down to see how Michigan finished regular season at 1 and Nebraska at 2. Basically, we were ranked #1 for 3 weeks in a row, then beat Missouri in OT. Michigan was #4 and that same week beat #2 Penn State. The following poll on Monday - Nebraska was dropped after a game they won from #1 to #3..... and Michigan moved from #4 to #1. You don't see that very often. And that Penn State team that was ranked #2 ended up losing 3 out of their last 4 games. Proving they were overrated at #2. Later.... #1 Michigan beat #2 Ohio State (who had 1 loss earlier to Penn State but the Buckeyes were ranked ahead of Nebraska at this point). Huskers beat A&M in the Conference Champ Game 54-15. And had to beat #3 Tennessee (Huskers were up 42-9 with 4 minutes to go in the game). #1 Michigan did not play a CCG, but did get to play #8 Washington State. And the Cougars were never in the top 10 at any point of the season until after the regular season ended (jumping from #11 to #8). It never made sense to me. Oh well. That was a long time ago lol. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/nebraska/1997-schedule.html https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/michigan/1997-schedule.html

  31. You’re okay with cheating and breaking the rules. Good to know. Sure they more than handled Washington but the thing we’ll never be sure of is if they make it into that game without breaking the rules. IMO they more than deserve to be dinged for all their sign stealing, illegal contact and recruiting violations. Ignoring the rules seems to be a Harbaugh staple.

  37. The median sale price in 2020 was $296,000 an an interest rate of 2.85% on a 30yr for a payment of $1,232..ish. The median sale price in 2023 was $398,000 an interest rate of 7%on a 30yr for a payment of $2,648..ish For roughly the same house, people are paying $1,400 more per month for the median house. This isn’t just the result of local zoning laws.

  41. Yeah, he gets away with it because Republican voters won't ever vote for a Democrat no matter what. They live in their own reality. It doesn't matter if what Trump says is true because they want it to be true. Whether it's immigrants poisoning the blood of our country, Joe Biden being corrupt, or that the election was stolen. There isn't anything that is to low for these voters.
