  1. Because a person can't be "illegal", and the term has become dehumanizing and bigoted.

  2. It's nice to think back on what once was but these days, as I get older, I only care about going forward and rebuilding the brand. As far as Oklahoma is concerned they aren't even an after thought for me. They are only concerned with being Texas' lapdog and have been for years.

  5. All in all, hard to argue with the results from this weekend. If a couple more things broke right for Nebraska they finish in 2nd. 125--Smith is probably disappointed he didn't wrestle to his seed but all in all, I thought he was fine this weekend. He got taken down early by McKee and after that, it was tough because McKee is a hammer on top for most guys. He caught Ramos on the backside which was unlucky and dropped another and then he got hammered by Barnett who did not have a great tourney. 125 is a complete crap shoot and Smith probably has some confidence going into NCAAs seeing Davis win Big Tens. 133--I thought Van Dee had a nice tourney. He got the starch taken out of him by Nagao in the QF given up that early TD and then it was pretty much a wrap from there. Nice job battling back in the Consis although I didn't love the Teske match as he had that won in regulation and kinda brain farted there. 141--Little bit of a disappointing result for Hardy who should've been in the Semis. Just a really bad blunder there against Lemley in the QF giving away the match. Nice job coming back although I hope to goodness he doesn't need to wrestle Woods to AA because Hardy just doesn't match up at all against him. 149--Awesome job by Ridge beating Gomez again who is so, so dangerous. Great job on defense there at the edge when I thought Gomez was going to get him. I'd really like to see Gomez on the other side of the brackets at NCAAs. 157--Nice job by Robb getting 3rd. There seems to be a clear ceiling for him now as Franek and Haines are a cut above. Robb can definitely still AA but man, 157 is a meat grinder of a weight class. I can't be too critical of Robb because he's such a warrior. 165--Nice job by Taylor, wrestled to seed. He beat the guys he's supposed to beat and he lost to the guys that are a bit better than him. The future is super bright with him especially at 157. 174--Game effort by Bubba as always. He's undersized at 174 and that was clearly evident wrestling the two beefcakes from Ohio State (how is that dude a freshman!!) and Rutgers. I hope Bubba did enough to earn a WC so we'll see. 184--Weird being disappointed with Pinto finishing 3rd. He kinda wrestled like a dummy against Truax and I hope his lower leg injury isn't too serious. If you give Pinto a gas tank you'd get a better version of Salazar from Minnesota and that guy can win a national title. As it stands, Pinto has AA upside but I can also easily see him going 2-2 or something like that. 197--I know 197 is a little down this year in the Big Ten but I thought Allred handled himself nicely. He ran into Brooks and Brooks did Brooks stuff but I loved seeing him really put it on Smith from Maryland in the 3rd/4th match. Allred looked great this weekend and I hope he can carry that momentum into NCAAs HWT--Great job by Nash to qualify, tremendous story. Would be awesome if he could find a way to pick up a win or two which is possible if he gets the right draw.

  6. I have always said that when new neighborhoods go up, that in the middle should be the retail space. grocery stores, gas stations, a few places to eat and drink. Then build out from that. So you can essentially stay in your area because all the stuff is there. "Want to grab a drink? We can just walk two blocks!"

  11. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they canned both series, especially Tenn. Things aren't like they used to be in the Big 8 where you had OU and maybe one other team that was decent every year. Now we're in a league with OSU, Mich, Penn St, Wis, Iowa, Oregon, Wash, USC & UCLA guaranteeing you'll get several games every year agains top 20 teams and probably more than one top 5 or 10 team.

  12. I have no idea who that lady is but I get her point. George did a good job asking question(s) but if that is how she feels because of what happened to her in the past then he was "wrong". I think how he should have framed the question should have been "Are you at all comfortable on explaining why you endorsed a man that has been found liable for rape because I know you have spoken about your past and the horrible thing that happend to you" Some of the "training" that we have done in my field is how to ask questions about very delicate topics. starting with a "are you at all comfortable..." is one of the things we have been told by rape/kidnapping/trafficking victims. Robin Roberts, who I think works with George or did work with him, is a total pro at asking those questions. She exudes empathy and compassion and sympathy. Is it super odd that she would endorse him, of course it is, it seems crazy to me. He asks a great question just asked it in a bad way.

  13. Goodbye GOP it was nice knowing you. Trump has to cut anyone who might expose illegal activities such as transferring RNC cash to Trump and his legal team. Trump will milk the GOP and get what he can out of it and leave it in ruins. Time for Liz, Hogan and Romney to start a new party

  19. Are they? Michigan has Texas (2024, 2027), and Oklahoma (2025, 2026) on their future schedules. Alabama has Wisconsin (2024), Florida St (2025, 2026), Ohio St (2027, 2028), and Notre Dame (2029, 2030) on their future schedules.

  21. I honestly can't keep score anymore. Democrats have held the same line and rhetoric on illegal immigration forever, and for years they could swap lines with Republicans because it's the easiest political position to take. The Obama/Biden administration was often derided by the Latino community for being deportation happy. Talk was cheap and action was wildly expensive and problematic. So when political and drug-cartel violence in Latin America sends the number soaring, the solutions get even dicier. Trump scores electoral points with doomed over-reaches like walls and mass deportations, fed with the ugliest possible stereotypes. Democrats naturally denounce all things Trump and start quoting the Statue of Liberty, declining to acknowledge that they've spouted the same boilerplate tough-on-immigration/pathway to citizenship position for years. Something has to be done. Republicans use the situation to demonize immigrants and scare voters. Democrats get to say "hamana-hamana-hamana" as they dare Republicans to pass the tough immigration rules that will give Democrats the credit in an election year. If nothing is done, the chances of the immigrant surge receding and things going back to much as they were in the still-problematic and largely bipartisan past remain high.

  22. There's zero doubt that the Biden Team is playing with numbers to put the rosiest picture on things, which often mean pretending the global pandemic had nothing to do with it. But the global pandemic obviously had a massive influence, including major supply chain disruptions with lag times, which Biden opponents are also keen to ignore. An inflationary period was 100% predictable. If both sides stopped pretending that these numbers are comparable to "normal" economic metrics, we'd be left with the fact that lingering inflation drags down some of those rosy numbers for average Americans in a very real way. We'd also be left with the fact that whatever the U.S. did in response to COVID, America has emerged economically stronger that virtually all our allies and rivals. We're really s#!tty at mixed messages in this country, but if you had to pick a POV at election time, the latter is a better indicator of policy and prognosis moving forward.

  23. Our schedule is about to get much more difficult with the addition of Oregon, Washington and USC. Why the hell would we want to add an Oklahoma or Tennessee to our schedule? It's hard enough trying to get 8-9 wins in the Big 10.

  24. I mean we should be pretty damn close to 100%. I would think we have to be at least 10 spots away from being left out. At this point for us not to make it we would have to lose Friday and "bid stealers" would have to win the Big 12, SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Mountain West, Pac12, WCC, AAC, and A10.

  25. I don't really care either way about these series. Sure, I prefer our team schedule good opponents because the games are more interesting, especially if we can get back to being good. But, if teams like Alabama and Michigan are going to do nothing but schedule easy non-cons and that helps them get to the playoffs, why wouldn't we?

Computers have the Huskers at 32 in Ken Pom, 37 in the NET, 24 at Bart Torvik, 32 at Evan Miya, 38 at ESPN BPI & 23 at SOR. Bart Torvik projects them as an 8 seed with a 88.7% chance to make the field.

  37. So, most wins in a season is 26. We are at 22. Can you imagine the excitement around the program in the off season if we would hit that mark? 2 wins in the Big tourney then, the sweet 16 BABY!!! Im not betting the farm on that. Just dreaming.

  39. Ummm, if I could take a brief detour from the very serious analysis of old man bad for just a second... Does anybody else have serious concerns about a private company posting almost $100M bond for a presidential candidate so he can continue appealing (and immediately continue defaming) the woman he raped? Once again, louder, for those in the back: A RAPIST is running for president, had his buddy's company post nearly $100M bond so he can appeal his defamation judgment (for attacking the woman he was found to have RAPED) and he lacks the impulse control to not immediately begin attacking her AGAIN. The CEO of the company was a political appointee of Trump's. They have not disclosed any collateral or where these funds are coming from. Isn't having a president that's bought and paid for by his rich buddies kind of an issue? What is this guy or Chubb Limited going to want in return? It's amazing so many Americans are now fine with lowering the bar so low for this piece of trash.

  42. Pretty slow here so here's a tidbit. Last year, did anyone notice that the high south stadium camera is the first replay on HuskerVision? It was, then other camera angles were shown. My son was a HV intern. Matt Rhule asked HV to do that. I guess it's the closest shot to an All 22. So check it out next time you're the stadium, high south is always the first. We went to this game so this highlight is super cool. My kid's camera on Coleman's first TD! It was awesome! https://i.imgur.com/Mli10DZ.mp4

  43. I want to address this one. Most of us probably cannot remember who might have been available to coach Nebraska if Tom had left. If Tom left, would it had been Colorado who would have had the great run through the 80s and 90s or would that have been a steeper hill to climb as they had less history - not having the Devaney years prior to build off of. My speculation is that Tom would have been looked at as 'that coach that follows a legend' who is set up to fail. He would have been Frank 1.0. Tom goes off to Colorado and then the next great coach comes in without the pressure of the legend on top of him - kind of like where Matt Rhule is at now. Much easier to follow a Scott Frost than a Tom Osborne. Nebraska unfortunately has had too many coaches with the Osborne shadow on them - all trying to get out from underneath it. I think we've finally broken the 'Osborne Curse' if you will. The curse of following a legend. That is why I have hope in Rhule's take it slow, and build methodically approach. Back to the original "What If" - I can't remember who might have been available back in 1977 if Tom had left. Perhaps Bobby Bowden - however he went to FSU the year before. Too late Lou Holtz: Went to Arkansas in 1977 Danny Ford - became interim HC of Clemson in 78 and went on the win the NC vs Nebraska in 81

  44. This is an excellent one. I’ve often thought about how things would’ve gone if Bo had gotten it in 2003. In some ways it’s kind of amazing it didn’t happen. So Steve fires Frank with allegedly an NFL head coach waiting in the wings. I believe this was alluded to by Harvey Perlman in an article a while back, he claimed it was going to be a “wow” hire. I think in a later article it was said to be Mike Sherman who was with Green Bay at the time. Obviously doesn’t happen. So Steve is getting turned down left and right. Zimmer. Houston Nutt. Etc. I believe the search took over 40 days. He clearly had no plan and was caught completely flat footed. Steve had to have known this coaching search was becoming a disaster. He had to have known he made multiple critical mistakes. And the whole time he’s got a young, hot shot, fan favorite, D Coordinator that took over as interim and led the team to an inspired bowl win. Talk about an escape route. Why wouldn’t Pederson just hire Bo? He could’ve sold it pretty easily. A young NFL defensive assistant, comes to Neb as a savior DC, takes over the head job and becomes the face of Neb’s future. If Bo got the job I think he probably keeps most of the staff in place. Recruiting probably doesn’t drop off much, if at all, possibly even improving a bit under the new energy from the Bo hire. At worst they probably hover in that 7-5ish range with Bo never fully able to get over the hump. At best they could have very well made the 2005 or 2006 B12 Title Game, maybe even have won it in 2006 since OU was pretty pedestrian that year. Bo probably gets poached or given an extension and stays thru the B1G conference change and leaves some time around 2016, give or take.
