  1. 0 to 10% chance of rain Monday through Thursday in Iowa. Friday it jumps to 70%.  Mid 40's for a temp.

Sounds quite a bit nicer than this last Saturday.

I saw today it was backed off to a 50% chance. I think our offense can be effective in drizzle or light rain.  I hope JD can play.

  2. Most of the NFL pundits I hear are saying that the display that KC and LA put on last night is the future of the league.  I've heard the phrase "Playing basketball on grass" many times in the last month.  I'm thinking that should play into Nebraska's recruiting speech for QB's, WR's and RB's that want to go beyond college.

Most things are more fun on grass.

They're catering to the lowest common denominator. Too many people don't appreciate a good defensive battle. They think a 9-6 type game is boring. They know nothing.

Exactly JJ.  On the D side I think Frost and Chin try to sell the idea that a great defense with this meteoric offense is capable of winning championships.  The National variety.

  3. Impressive day for Husker sports.  Ladies Volleyball in the Final Four and the mens Basketball team beats Creighton.  Now we just need a few of the visiting football players to commit tonight or tomorrow.

Rosier Jr is one of the worst QBs I have ever seen.  He cant hit the broad side of a barn 2 feet from it.

  5. We had chances and the holding penalties bite us in the a$$ again but damn refs call the interference like you would if Wisconsin was on offense.

I hate BIG refs.  Every frickin’ time. Clear pass interference and nope. Terrible.

Not to mention the holding calls that they failed to call on Wisconsin.

If you get a chance look at the end zone camera of the last long touchdown run by the Badgers. Watch Wisconsin’s left tackle mall Luke Gifford. That should have been a holding call. It was way more aggregious than Corcoran’s call.

  6. Teddy Allen had 37 points for New Mex St in their win over U Conn.

His uncle is a friend of mine, here in Tucson. Told his uncle he couldn't get along with the coach, at Neb.

Was told he also was a little hard to control. Little bit of a wild streak, in him. You could see a little of that in Thursday's game.

He did play a heck of a game. To bad he couldn't have stuck around, our program.

      GBR!!!

    3. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

He was certainly talented but he needs 4 players around him who rarely get to shoot the ball and are satisfied playing defense and rebounding. Most players these days aren't willing to do that plus a team that can shut Teddy down can pretty much win the game.

  7. Remember Michael Jacobson the basketball player who played for Tim Miles? Never played a down of football at Nebraska or Iowa St. Now plays TE for the Indianapolis Colts and caught a touchdown last night.

I remember Keith Neubert who played 4 years of basketball at NU in the late 80s, before having a bit of a career in the NFL.  I couldn't remember if he played any football at NU, but it turns out he played 1 year with the football team.

If a prom queen doesn't have smooth thighs I don't know who would.

  10. After watching tonight's 30 for 30 about the Duke Lacrosse team, I wonder how much money Duke Univ had to pay to coaches and players who were hung out to dry. I'm guessing (multiple) 10's of millions.

  15. I  watched several old Husker games the last 24 hours waiting on this storm.  Huskers vs Miss St in the Sun Bowl.  Nu vs Houston in the Cotton Bowl and Nu vs Oklahoma in 1988 regular season. That D was impressive.

One thing that surprised me was how many small town Nebraska home grown kids started or played significant minutes on those early 80's teams.

I've been watching games sporadically too this past week.  So many good one's on Youtube.

  16. My youngest son and 3 team mates are representing Nebraska in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Golf Championship today and tomorrow in South Carolina. They won the regional in Lincoln then won the state tournament in Valentine a month ago.

I have a sick feeling this is going to be a big Patriots win and I don't like it.

  19. It’s great to see O lineman Hunter Anthony from Oklahoma St chose to transfer to the Huskers. He played yesterday in their bowl game win over Notre Dame

I DVR'd that game but haven't had a chance to watch.  Will give me something extra to watch for.

Yes it was sad to hear.  I liked meatloaf, musically and acting.  Great guy RIP

  21. If Nebraska gets out of our slump mostly due to the portal and starts winning games again at a crazy pace for a couple years, how long do you think it will take the Big Ten to put a limit on the number of portal players a team can grab in one year?

    1. admo

      admo

Not sure.  But I also think things will change fairly soon (or settle down) with NIL and the transfer portal.  A monster was created out of a good idea originally.  Too many hands F'd it up.  The original idea was good and helpful (with NIL and transferring). Without leadership and rules in place for all to follow, this is what you get.

    2. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

I guess what I'm comparing it to is the decision when the Big 12 was formed that restricted the number of Prop 48 players a school could enroll per year. The vote was 11-1against the policy that Nebraska used to it's advantage. It was one way to bring the Husker program back to earth after many years of success.

  22. .Between Bear Bryant and Nick Saban Alabama hired and fired 8 coaches. Their tenure was 3,2,6,3,2,0,3 and 1 year. It was pretty much a revolving door till Nicky came along.

    1. BigRedBuster

      BigRedBuster

Yep.  I hate coaching changes with a passion.  But, Frost was given all the time he needed to turn this around and it just kept getting worse.  We will eventually find the right coach to bring winning back.

    2. admo

      admo

Agree.  Revolving doors are not exactly fun.  I hate that it didn't work out the remainder of the year for Former HCSF.  I am thrilled for Mickey.

  23. No private schools in the finals of the Nebraska Boys Basketball Tourney. I don't remember that ever happening.
