Good luck. Had 2 shoulder surgeries in a 2.5 year time frame. Same shoulder. You never realized how much you need 2 arms for things until you can only use one. Once your through the first week its all downhill from there.

Hope it goes well. But realize your chances of a MLB career are probably over now.

  2. Wow. Not that impressed with Wisconsin. Their defense is good but offense looks vulnerable. Northwest looks good. I'm so impressed with NW coach. He's right on the sidelines coaching his guys as they play.

My biggest concern is our offensive line and an immobile quarterback. If we can't protect Mr. Statue or get a running game going....

One part of the "Husker fans are the greatest" that I am sour on is how we treat our own.  We pride ourselves on welcoming opposing fans to Memorial Stadium and clapping for the visiting team win or lose.  However we can be the most lame, sour, bitter and nasty bunch around to our coaches and players.  The way I look at it is this:  Our coaches are my coaches till they aren't and I will support them.  Same way with players.  The day I am perfect I can expect the players to be faultless and perfect.  Till then and long after their playing days are over they will be a part of the Husker family.

  5. Did anyone hear Scott on Golic & Wingo this morning?  Here’s a synopsis. I would’ve liked to have heard it.  Golic inadvertently called Scott the new coach at Alabama!  Lol

  6. O am a Happy camper this evening!  We found a Tony Roma's restaurant here in Denver!  We used to have one in Omaha during the 90's but they all of a sudden closed!  It was so fun!  Great Onion Loaf, baked potato soup and baby back ribs.  BUT! No dirt cup for the kids! Lol   We also found out there is one downtown as well. Good times!

We don't get out to eat very often, as we are busy with kids and their activities.  There are a few locally-owned places in the north suburbs which we try and support.  Our kids are old enough so they don't force us into the Chili's or other big chains when we go out.

    3. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

ColoradoHusk-we have two grandsons (ages 4 and 16 months) so it’s easier to eat in.  We steer clear of the chains too with the exception of Chilck fil a for lunch!

    4. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

@ColoradoHusk if you know of any locally owned BBQ joints in the Denver area that are good please share. We've eaten at Bennett's Pit BBQ out in the Stapleton area, around Havanna and I-70 I think, and it's been pretty decent but I really don't know of any others. I think it may even be a chain. Would like to know of any really good authentic BBQ places, seems all I'm aware of are chain places and they typically take shortcuts.

It was an amazing race today.  Riding at 30mph over those granite cobblestones-brutal.  Knappic-I also read a UK publication called The Guardian.  They give a moment by moment breakdown of each stage.

      @ladyhawke

Those cobblestones are no joke. Worst part about my trips to France. My feet still wince at the thought of them.

Too bad for Richie Porte. They shouldn't be riding on those surfaces at all, and now he's out due to those stupid cobbles.

Also, I can commiserate with Froome about this. Been there!

    4. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

Knappic-I agree with you about the cobbles. I was surprised that Bob Roll was so adamant about leaving them in while Christian V agreed with us.   I felt really sorry for TeJay Van Garderan.  Bright side is that Greg V is still in yellow for BMC and I was really happy for John Degankolb. Rest day tomorrow!

(Have you rode the tour route in France? A friend of mine did that a few years ago. Very cool.)

      admo

I'm not really a big fan of green beans because if I am eating green vegetables, it's usually fried cabbage (or boiled/steamed), steamed brussel sprouts, sauteed collards in olive oil with garlic and bacon bits, or grilled okra (or fried).  That's it every time.

The offense was stagnant. Doesn't matter how many yards you put up, its pointless if it doesn't turn into points. tOSU's defense created some turnovers at key times. Offense couldn't do sh#t with it.

  13. Has anyone actually asked Scott Frost if he would be willing to come to Nebraska if the job became available.?  You would think every ESPN reporter would have already asked him that question.

    2. Enhance

      Enhance

IMO, sometimes a reporter needs to ask a question even if they know they won't get a response. This isn't one of those situations. A coach shouldn't comment on their interest (or lack there of) in another coaching position while they're currently coaching at a school. It's just unfair and wrong, perhaps even unethical, to ask or answer that question. But, it is the elephant in the room. A lot of people seem convinced Frost would be elated to get this job and I'm not so sure.

    3. krc1995

      krc1995

I'm not sure if he wants either but any comment on a position that's not even open would be disrespectful to the current coach and both fan bases.

      ladyhawke

Teachercd you crack me up. I was thinking more of the press as I realize administrators can’t ask. I’m not sure Scott will come or if he is a good fit for NU. (I’m ducking in case I start getting stoned by irate fans!) Yes he’s winning and he’s ranked but who has UCF really played? The Navy game will be interesting. I’m a huge SF fan but unless NU can not only offer Scott big money but also for all of his assistant coaches (he wants to keep the band together according to an Orlando reporter) he probably won’t come.

  21. Husker quarterbacks: Do you think Coach Frost will allow his quarterback to ‘play through the mistakes’ or will he pull them? (I heard this question on 1620 The Zobe this afternoon and thought it was interesting.  I think that as a former q.v. himself, Scott can tell whether a qb is having a ‘bad hair day’ and needs to sit out or the qb is just not getting it and needs to sit down. What do you guys think?

    2. brophog

      brophog

How often do you ever see a QB pulled for performance reasons, and how likely is that team to succeed when done? Coaches more or less allow QBs to struggle a bit. The ones that get yank happy rarely succeed.

    3. Husker John

      Husker John

My understanding is SF does not want his players to be afraid to make a play, or to fear failure. I think that's going to be a dynamic positive teaching environment for all our players.

    4. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

I think that will happen as well, Husker John.  Scott wants to keep his players encouraged and learning how to improve their craft at the same time.

However, why wouldn’t a coach pull a qb that is obviously not getting the job done for that particular gam brophog?  There should be no shame in pulling the guy, putting another qb in who also needs to learn and who perhaps IS having a better day.  I’ve seen coaches do that before. Isn’t that what being a team is all about?
