  1. It's a trade-off. College basketball might have an exciting season. But compare the two regular seasons. No contest.

    1. suh_fan93

      suh_fan93

College football still culminates at the END of the season with....the bowls.... Did anyone 'really' get into all of the bowls this year? The BCS must die. Period...

    2. suh_fan93

      suh_fan93

How about that NU/Washington rematch! Wasn't that awesome?!!1!!

    3. Lil' Red

      Lil' Red

Get a playoff and college football might be able to get some of the similar excitement the tourney has.

  2. It's a sweep on Saturday Selections. All are on PSU. Ugghh

      They are wrong.

      Can you blame em.

I understand their logic. PSU is tough at Happy Valley. I just don't like it is all.

  3. That KC game was something else today. I am not a KC fan by any means, but I am a football fan and I know how badly I would feel if my team did what KC did today. Hard to think this way right now, but KC fans should be proud of the season they had and they should feel hopeful for the future.

    1. Foppa

      Foppa

The chefs should've lost 472-0, and that would've been better. The only hope I want them to have is the hope they never win another game and they get rid of the team. I only feel sorry for chefs fans that they feel compelled to like that team.

    2. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

Not sure who from KC or who from the Chiefs organization pizzed in your Wheaties. I'm not a huge NFL fan but I do pull for the two teams closest to me like KC and Denver. Didn't get to watch the game after the first quarter as I was busy playing with grandkids then traveling home. Hated to see that KC fell face first vs Indy.

    3. True2tRA

      True2tRA

They had a good season. Funny thing is all the Chiefs fans I know and work with, they are still bitching this season. It's why I can't stand Chefs fans. Most of em' don't even realize what a completely different team they looked like in just one year. Of course, can't blame y'all if that meltdown lingers a bit. That was bad. Kind of how I felt after the Rahim Moore play against Balty last year.

  4. Just offering a clarification on my comments about Jason Peter. I am not saying he is wrong. And I am not saying he is 100 percent right. And I am not offended. But it seems that if all his points are true, then it seems almost impossible to fix in season and we should thus prepare for a bumpy ride from here on out..

I am trust me. It's obvious there are still mentality issues, and the injuries are piling up *AGAIN*. Same ole, same ole.

I feel you Count. I am more inclined to prepare for turbulence as well. At the same time, I want to believe it's different this go around.

    3. Chaddyboxer

      Chaddyboxer

The talent and leadership is different....same coaches. Like I've stated before, if the team goes 11-1 predicates more on the coaches now IMO.

  5. As a Husker fan, I am into defense and recall with great joy the option game of the 1990s. However, when I play NCAA, I run the spread offense and use the feature of the game that allows me to skip defensive possesions. Strange? Because I sure think so.

    1. tmfr15

      tmfr15

and we are talking pass happy spread. Not read option stuff. Think fun and gun.

    2. Redux

I like an up the middle and cut to the outside run attack with 1/3 PA pass and downfield passes. Defensively i like alot of coverage that I can switch into a blitz presnap.

    3. Decked

      Decked

I pretty much just run 95% of the time.

  6. Figuring out the CFB world by way of score comparison seems reasonable until that headache sets in

Houston looks like a damn good team. Herman is a hall of a coach.

    3. NUance

      NUance

It's a weird, wild season. And not just for us.

  7. The tough part about recruiting is that most, if not all, of the guys you pull in can't help you right away. They need time to develop. Figure two years or possibly three before they will be doing much of anything on the field.

    1. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

Considering the talent we have, 3 years is too long of a timeline. Unfortunately we need some guys that can contribute in year 1 and 2.

    2. Danny Bateman

      Danny Bateman

Really glad POB was an early enrollee. Hopefully him and Grim can get a connection going and he can really push TA.

    3. Redux

      Redux

I think maybe a handful of the guys we are about to land could contribute this season.

  8. I know that I am Captain Buzz kill but it woyld be more comforting to be building up our presence at the LOS instead of at WR

    2. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

The rules are gonna be changing where all 11 players are eligible receivers!!!

    3. zoogs

      zoogs

but, we also have a sizable need at WR. great to take care of that when the opportunity is here.

  9. I have heard chattet about WR and DB. Any big names left for the lines?

      Damion Daniels is big.

      Double D is big!

If we get him it will be a very good defensive line class.

  10. Rivals HI says we tied Kansas 0-0 and lost.

  11. Make the Starling stress go away. Assume he's gone. Then if he is actually here come September...great surprise!

glass half empty mentality, cant be fun to live like that!

    2. Minnesota_husker

      Minnesota_husker

No source on this one but he isn't coming. $$$ is too tempting and he still gets to play a game he loves.

  12. Hey, LeBron...congrats on the move. Wait, that wasn't you celebrating on the Miami court last night. J.J. Berea? WTF

    1. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

Man, if I had a nickel for every time someone mistakenly thought J.J. Berea was LeBron...

    2. tmfr15

      tmfr15

I hear ya. The two would pass for twins. I think I heard LeBron say something to J.J. It didn't make sense, something like Vincent, I am your twin brother Julius. LOL

  13. We've all been working through our Husker emotions over the past few days. I started a thread devoted to those struggles. Occurs to me though that no matter how much we vent, we all should be able to go back and be just as big of fans as ever. Afterall, isn't that what BO is doing. He is absolutely vile towards the whole process one minute and sincrely contrite the next. And he gets by with it. We should be able to do the same.

Sometimes, there's just no turning back.

  14. Getting closer and closer to kick. And, despite all my protests about the season... I can't wait for the game. It's a freaking disease. I could not distance myself from this team if my very life depended on it. GBR

    1. HuskerNationNick

      HuskerNationNick

Truth! Closer we get, the more excited I get. This game, could be a great thing for Nebraska if they win!

    2. NUance

      NUance

If "they" win? lolo. You are part of the "we" Nick.

  15. Mike Riley is easily the most experienced HC we have had since TO. Do with that what you will.

    1. C N Red

      C N Red

Actually since Devaney. He was the last coach we hired who had at least some HC experience before he became our HC. Cally had 1 year with Raiders, Devaney was Wyoming HC for 4-5 years. TO, Solich, and Bo had no HC experience.

    2. tmfr15

      tmfr15

You are right. I just meant since T.O. left. Obviously he shed his rookie status by year 25. But I get what you are saying.

  16. Thought of the day: It sure is easier to learn how to expect more than it is to learn how to expect less. End of the third quarter in Minny and Gopher fans are probably tickled with the idea of getting a hard earned win over Ohio to move to 3-1. Close game? Against Ohio? We would be freaking out... much the same way we are today after S. Miss

    1. commando

      commando

the gophers are losing to the fighting frankies now

    2. tmfr15

      tmfr15

Minnesota win over Ohio=Happy. NU win over S Miss=UNhappy.

What's the difference? We expect to win. Minny does not.

  17. I would like to be positive about recruiting but I need a frame of reference. What kind of 2016 class did we have at this time last year?

    1. BIG ERN

      BIG ERN

As of July 4th for each year:

      16' Three 4*, Six 3*

      17' Four 4*, Six 3*, One 2*

    2. Atbone95

      Atbone95

For frame of reference, the targets we have remaining are light years ahead of the same targets we had this time last year. Sure weren't 5*s visiting on a regular basis.

  18. Sure wish we had a bowl tie in that pitted a Big 10 team against a Big 12 team. Far as I can tell, one doesn't exist. A bowl game for the Huskers against a former Big 12 rival would be fun.

    1. RedRedJarvisRedwine

      RedRedJarvisRedwine

ID BE AFRAID WE'D GET PIGEON HOLED INTO THAT BOWL EVERY YEAR. I MEAN ASSUMING WE QUALIFY FOR IT.

    2. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

I'm sort of keeping my eyes fixed on a higher level bowl; Rose, BCS, playoff....that type of thing. But yeah other than those, might as well be a Big 12 team once in awhile.

  19. If Colorado can be resurected from dumpster fire to the brink of a conference title in four years, how the hell haven't the Huskers won a league title?

    1. It'sNotAFakeID

      It'sNotAFakeID

      1) Big Ten was far better than the Pac 12 this year.

      2) I believe Colorado has a really experienced team this year.

    2. It'sNotAFakeID

      It'sNotAFakeID

      3) Colorado hasn't won the Pac 12 yet.

      4) Nebraska was an OT away from heading to Indy.

  20. Shawn Watson's plan is to revisit the plan, talk about the plan, analyze the plan, re-work the plan in order to be more multiple and attack the defense in multiple ways.

  21. How many Buckeyes will be missing from the starting line up come Oct.?

    1. NUance

      NUance

I'm guessin two or three. Fewer than the self imposed sanctions.

  22. Wanting to relive a couple of seaons this off season. Can you buy a season on DVD? If so, where... link?

  23. Remember when Nebraska played in the Orange Bowl. Good memories.

    1. Foppa

      Foppa

Nebraska has a losing record in Orange Bowl games.

  24. The other BIG games on Saturday might be interesting to watch, Ohio State vs. Minn being one of those contests. But at the end of the day, I don't care. I want a BIG title and will take whatever bowl comes with it, be it playoff or not.

    1. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

I think there's a good chance Minny upends tOSU.

And if it happens, we can kiss the playoffs goodbye.
