Not really - Barry's is about as far as college students will get from campus. Railyard is definitely "young professional", 25+, while the college kids stay on O St/Barry's. 

And Grad students have to find the hipster bars.

Oh yeah, I suppose it was.  Ugh.

There were quite a few people here saying we would go 6-6 this year. But then we all kinda bought into the preseason hype...

It's pretty far off, at least. I'll say this, though: the defense actually looks basically the way I thought they would. A modest improvement over last year, but still way too inconsistent. A lot of people are acting like the the defense has regressed, but it really hasn't, it's improved a bit overall. I think people are forgetting just how awful the defense was a couple years ago.

The real story is how far the offense has regressed. They were expected to carry the team, but they went from being way ahead of the defense to being a bit worse than the D.

Pearl can coach, but I have my doubts about how clean his program is. While I believe every program contains a degree of “dirty,” I also subscribe to the theory that there are worse than others, and didn’t Auburn just have an assistant get busted from a prior gig?

He's had a history of not great looks. 

Hoiburg by choice tends to recruit juco kids and avoids much of the drama of high school kids, summer league coaches who want to be paid and dads who think their son is the next Michael Jordan.  I agree it is hard to not get dirty when you have tp play in the mud to attract players to a program.

Ha ha!  The thing is, I was a HUGE fan of Lovie when he was first hired.  I thought he was the guy who would finally turn things around.  But no.  The Illini's prospects are as dim as ever.  (btw, I live in Illinois.)

Yet more evidence that hiring an NFL guy to coach a college team is almost never a good idea...

This is how I look at it...

1.  The people that they are pretending to be worried about getting hammered (students) are not the ones that are going to buy beers at the game...not at 5-7 dollars a beer and not when they would rather just sneak in some shooters.  So that argument is super mute and moot.  No college kid, that is 21, is going to be excited to spend 14 dollars (plus a tip) for two beers when 20 dollars get you a case of Natty...or about 5 drinks on O street.

2.  People that are going to drink at the game (older people) are running out at halftime and slamming down two beers and a shot...then heading back in.  That is more of an "issue" than a dude grabbing another beer at halftime and polishing it off during the 3rd quarter.

I went to a game in Minny, they served beer...me and buddy stood near the end zone...where the beers were and probably went through 4-5 beers each until the sales were done.  Cans of Grain Belt.  Didn't seem like that big of a deal.

I also think the idea of stopping sales at the end of the 3rd makes no sense.  Shouldn't they just not start sales until the end of the 1st?  It isn't like you are going to sober up during the 4th, that makes no sense, if anything the booze in your system has more time to f#&% with you.

Wait a minute....They still sell Grain Belt beer somewhere?

In this day and age, at the very least you should be on a VoIP phone (Magic Jack, Vonage, etc.).

TBH the landline was handy while the kids were still in school. Wouldn’t have all those long a$$ school messages cluttering up our cell phone voicemail. But it’s just a complete waste of money since the kids are out of HS. I literally haven’t touched the home phone in over two years. Sometimes it will ring and the wife will ask me who it is and I’ll just say I don’t care, nobody for me. It’s been that way for so long it doesn’t even bother me anymore. She’s getting close to dropping it....

@teachercd50 is about right currently as I do work for a telecom that still has people using them as well as calling cards and fax services.  You don't even want to know what an analog fax line costs anymore and they still sell them all the time while they also sell Fax to email services(1/4 of the price) but old school people simply don't trust the digital stuff.

Gee, maybe a pillow-soft schedule helped them out last season? But then again, they have probably the easiest schedule in the West again this season, so it'll probably still work out pretty well...

It is impressive. Reminds me of this kid in my neighborhood who was in 5th or 6th grade taking college math at a local CC, the instructor didn’t make it to class one day so this kid was tutoring those who stayed haha

I was really pleasantly surprised with how good it was.  I remember when it came out I thought it looked interesting and was excited to check it out due to it being a really interesting story plus I dig anything that has to do with early space travel.  I remember saying, "Holy %$%^ that was great" audibly after it finished.  Definitely re watchable for me.  They crushed it in terms of casting.

Things in MN are slowly opening back up but all the surrounding suburbs were closing grocery stores and Targets. 

Illinois is thinking about ditching it too. I think it's because the state is too broke to hire anyone to change the clocks.

NY strip.  There is little to no evidence that the bone actually gives the meat more flavor so why pay for part of the cow that you can't eat. I'd rather replace the weight of the bone with actual meat.  A boneless steak also cooks much more evenly than a bone-in cut.
