I'd be okay until I read all the bad excuse-making on Huskerboard, then I'd like

I would really be bummed out.  It would really, suck and I try not to think about it bc I know it is very possible.  I keep using the excuse of "well, we have a difficult road ahead of us".  Then I realize the difficult road is Minny, Iowa, and Wisconsin.  All teams that we should be able to beat regularly.  Wouldnt change my level of fandom, it would just really suck to see Frost miss bowl games his first 3 season as our Head Coach. Luckily, I coach football and our team has been really good the past few years, so that helps drown the sorrow of Husker Football in the fall.  

I guess it would depend on the nature of the losing season.  If *knock on wood*....*knocks on wood again* NU gets clobbered by the injury bug to key positions than there really isn't much you can do.  If it's due to absurd dumb stuff, that would certainly be more frustrating.  I've been betting on sports for so long that it takes a near catastrophic event for me to really get slightly annoyed.  I watch Nebraska because I want them to do well and people are in a better mood when the team is good.  The day I let what an 18-22 year old does on an athletic field affect my day that isn't my kid is the day I stop watching.

Mens wrestling, track and gymnastics are good but the rest of the mens sports are not and as you said they just plain stink.  Womens volleyball is the university's anchor sport right now and has been for awhile.  Track and gymnastics are  very good and several of the minor sports (meaning they exist to keep Title 9 happy) are highly ranked. 

Mens sports need a definite kick in the pants. At least one of the major sports need to step up.

Just the other day I was wondering, are we better overall than Purdue?  Minnesota?  Illinois?  I think not, for any of them.    Even Maryland at least has a basketball team.  It's a sad state of affairs.  Right now anyway.  :sigh:

Reading that status update got me to wondering, ""Whatever happened to our Gymnastics program?''..Seems like we were winning national championships around the time I started going to UNL (Although I never saw a match).

Then I tuned into the BIG10 network and saw us hosting and beating nationally ranked Penn State...But there were a lot of empty seats in the background..A little sad that we don't seem to be any better at attendance than I was back in the day.

I couldn't even find out the final score on any of the regular sites (including here) for a couple of days.

Agreed. Will be interesting to see what happens. Do they get someone new or bring back Dawson to coach OLB. We need someone who knows ST though so I doubt it is Dawson. 

Nice guy, and he's the coach that has been dealing with cancer (and chemo after-effects, IIRC).

@krc1995 I am talking about season as a whole, sure there have been glimpses and flashes of excitment, but that 7-0 start in 2016 ended with some of the worst games I have ever witnessed. 62-3 nuff said.

@krc1995 totally wrong.  I've said many times, that 7-0 record was a total farce.  Those 7 games were painful to watch, we could have just as easily lost most of them.  All that stretch did was give the uber Riley fans ammo to put him on a pedestal even though the team was dangling by a thread.  The only time I thought maybe we turned a corner was hanging with Wisconsin, then we found a way to s#!t the bed in that game too and all fell into place and the team tanked immediately after that as expected.

I felt better about our team during the end of his first year than I did during his second year while they were undefeated.  You could see it on the field they were getting softer.  This isn't revisionist history, this is a point I've made MANY times.  As mentioned above, the mask came off and the Ohio State debacle and Iowa game revealed what the team was made of.  The veil was thin and the tough teams punched a hole through us.  Many people saw it coming.

I'm actually a little disgusted I have to defend this.  I'll be honest, I tried longer than most to support that worthless excuse of a coach and staff.  I did my best to try and get excited about what they were doing.  But watching them play was emotionally draining, you could tell they had no drive, no desire, no direction and no clue where they needed to be most plays.  The o ly difference between 2016 and 2017 was the games that barely swung in our favor, the lucky breaks we got, swung and broke the other way.

But if they lose at home to Indiana...it will be a mess and the boo-birds will be out.

I don’t think that would make things noticeably worse. There can’t be many left expecting much of anything for the remainder of this season. We know Wisconsin and Iowa are taking us behind the woodshed and to have any shot at the other 3 we are going to have to play much better and cleaner than we have all season. Maybe it’s just me but any win from here on out is a bonus and any loss would not be surprising at all.

We gotta hang on to those top prospects.  Where would we be if we didn't hang on to Alex Reyes, Marco Gonzalezs, Oscar Tavaras, Shelby Miller, and Colby Rasmus?  So glad our front office decided to hang on to prospects instead of getting proven MLB talent.
