What I don't understand is why gamers aren't pissed at EA (the game developer)? They could have easily made the exact same game but with random players instead of likenesses of actual players. All the tradition and pagenatry of the actual schools, stadiums, bowl games, etc. could still have been used. Instead EA threw a hissy fit and stopped making the game instead.

They will, and it will be lovely.  My idea was this:  Make every player the exact opposite race color.  Easy solution.

No, it'd have to be more than a simple cosmetic fix like that. Even making just the attribute numbers try to match the expectations of each real player would be too similar (or at least that's what I remember from the articles about the decision). Simply make the players random, just like recruiting in the game.

Why didn't they do this right away, and what's stopping them from doing it now?  That seems like one of the easier fixes.  There has to be a work-around for this problem.

I have no idea, as I said it seemed like EA just wanted to throw a fit instead of adapting the game. Or maybe EA ran the numbers and only by profiting off the player likenesses could the game turn a profit, which seems unlikely to me as people still talk about missing playing that game.

@Redux, would you buy a new NCAA Football 2018 with randomized players (or at least somewhat random - the better schools could still have the better players)? I probably would.

Don't these games have a level of customization you can do to each player?  As in, couldn't you buy the game with basic teams, then customize the players to a more true to life roster? And instead of using the players' likenesses, they could use generic faces, like mannequins.

To be fair the last 5 or so years of the franchise they changed the customization of the faces so in a way, they did all look like mannequins. You would often times have a 5'9 160lb RB that based purely off his facial features, looked like a 6'6 290lb offensive lineman.

I don't like when people argue about video games and lawsuits.

I don't blame Keller and the players for pursuing the lawsuit. I just think a better face (read much better player that was actually harmed) could have represented college football players. Maybe it's just me but I always wondered how Keller was really harmed. Sure it wasn't right for others to profit off another's likeness but Sam Keller wasn't the type of player driving sales either. Having said that, the gaming industry surely could've made the same game without using real college player's likenesses. The industry is the one to blame for the subsequent lack of a college football video game. Blaming gamers is a little misguided, all they did was enjoy playing a game that was torn away from them long after they were accustomed to being able to play it. I understand their unhappiness. FYI, Im not a gamer and have never played NCAA or NFL video games.

Bill Murray has done some very good stuff IMO, I don't think his brand of humor is for everyone.  I don't find most of the stuff he has done in Wes Anderson movies all that funny, but I don't find those movies all that funny.

Now Norm McDonald and David Spade are not funny.

I enjoy Dennis Leary as a stand up comic and as an actor.  People say he ripped off Bill Hicks, I say it's more a result of the two being friends and writing together.  People say his acting is more re-acting, I say it just feels more real life that way.
