This just isn't true at all. Neither Frost nor Nebraska "took him from UCF". Tre initiated this. This was the players desire. I read a tweet today stating four or so points that UCF fans need to understand about Tre going to Nebraska ... and that was the main point ... Nebraska did not initiate this ... HE DID.

Here's another analogy. Ron Brown, gay man, speaks in a strident voice to the largest municipality in Nebraska, asking them to deny protection from discrimination to Christians while giving his home address as Nebraska Football's home field. Six years later, gay man Ron Brown is rehired by Nebraska Athletics. Anyone pretending that person is welcomed back with open arms today is lying to themselves. So what's different? That Ron Brown is Christian? That instead of advocating allowing discrimination against Christians, he advocated allowing discrimination against LGBTQs? The people concerned about this hire have two points: 1) Discrimination against anyone based on (among other things) religion or sexual orientation is wrong. 2) If the situations were reversed, the same people concerned with this hire would be raising the exact same concerns. But the same people supporting the hire wouldn't. That's the problem.

The coolest part to me is that Frost and Nebraska initiated nothing ... he just simply appreciate what Frost did for him that he "wanted to help him rebuild what he (Frost) loves back at Lincoln." If you think about it ... Frost going back to coach UCF and those kids in the bowl ... it might have hurt our recruiting a bit ... but Neal is coming here because of Frost's commitment to Neal as a player. Special ... very special.

The rate at which Frost is flipping the roster is mind numbing.

Again, this is not a sports related debate but all the Ron Brown bashers are advocating discrimination against Christians is good because apparently NU ought not hire a Christian. Discrimination against a protected class is not a good thing but it is one's right to like or dislike anybody for any reason. However, the University may not choose to discriminate against Ron Brown's religion and his free exercise thereof without consequences. Ron Brown has the exact same responsibility. Those who seem to hate Christians need to get a life and do unto others as they would have done to them.

It’s not this topic that’s driving me away, and I’m not angry an any way, honestly. I repented just recently, and my life has changed dramatically. I don’t expect anyone to believe me; I feel Him close to me, and He’s been speaking to me, if that makes any sense. I don’t really know how to discribe it in words. I feel called to leave, and I want to obey. Honestly no hard feelings to anyone here, I really mean that. I’m not angry at anyone, or anything that was said. I’m actually really happy.

I can. While I don’t have the speed, agility, range, hands, general football IQ, being able to back pedal, and the fact I’m 28 , I feel I could compete with how our corners played last year.

They might get why Frost came back - this is home. But in their minds, why would anyone else leave the tropical Disney utopia of Orlando, Florida (and their half-full 40K seat stadium)? For a boring flyover tundra? They don't see what we see; they don't know what Nebraska was for so long, what was built in the dirt in the 19th and 20th centuries with blood, sweat, and tears. The history of this brutal game, becoming a power of rugged men on the rugged plains before even the forward pass. An old tradition of strength and steadfast determination burning through November winds and December cold, the red N was a symbol of an unstoppable force. Was, and will be again...

Ron could put all this debate to rest by using his role immediately to do outreach to LBGTQ players and to everyone else on the team to establish a dialogue about respect, equal treatment regardless of sexual oreintation etc. If he doesn't (imo) we have his statement, and I don't agree with it. The best thing a coach to young men can be is an example, one during the good times when they make the right decisions as well as when they make a mistake and show maturity and openness to acknowledge it and correct it.

No, you are not accurately describing it. You are sensationalizing to fit your agenda. He didn't "cloak[ed] himself in Husker Red to promote his opinion." He went to speak on a topic. He was caught somewhat off-guard when asked to give his address and, after hesitating, replied with "One Memorial Stadium". It is equally possible and probably more likely that he had to make a snap decision about giving his home address where - being a local celebrity of sorts - he - and his family - could easily become a target for retaliation and opted for a different answer. You have nothing to indicate that his intention in doing that was to use his position as a bully pulpit. And he apologized for doing that. Had he actually gone into saying "I'm Husker coach Ron Brown" or something along those lines, that would be be 'cloaking himself in Husker Red' and his following apology would be less meaningful. But that's not what happened, only how it's being presented.

You are exaggerating what he did, probably because it is more convenient to argue against him doing that than to say you don't think he should have done anything in the first place.

That seems like the opposite of the reaction you should have, imo. Not gonna go into detail on that 'cause it's a P&R topic. I'm Christian and I think what Ron Brown did was wrong for multiple reasons. There are plenty of Christians around these parts so if that's a requirement for you to stick around here you shouldn't let this one topic drive you away.

Not this year, but there were rumblings about a departed WR who was leaving UCF to go to Juco, and the scuttlebutt was that was to avoid sitting out a year before coming to Nebraska. No they didn't. Again, you're reading way more into it than what's there. Edit: In fact, you could make the exact opposite argument from that statement. They didn't think it was all that big of a deal at all. They said they were fine with him speaking and only asked that he clarify that he was speaking his own viewpoint and not associated with the university.

The Vietnam War documentary by Ken Burns on Netflix is an absolute must see for everyone. I can't express how exceptional it is. Having been born in 63 that period of time has always fascinated me. Considering I lived through that time it amazes me how little I really understood about the details of that war or the associated social unrest. It also helps put current day events in perspective. If you think things are beyond jacked up today, take a long hard look at that tumultuous period and realize that we made it through it. I had heard of Khe San, Da Nang, the Tet offensive, the Mekong Delta etc. but now I know why I heard those names on the nightly news and their importance. And the soundtrack is phenomenal. My music taste has always been formed by the late 60's and early 70's and the soundtrack for this show is spot on with what was happening in this era. Trust me, watch the show. It's long and thorough but not documentary boring in the slightest.
