  1. Bo sucked... Riley sucks... Let's find someone that doesn't suck!

  2. I'm sure having a nun as a our head coach would look great for the media and they would be respectful as well. This is football. We are here to win games bruh People act like Bo ate people's children. I'm not even mad he is gone, just shocked how people back Riley's inability to coach with "He's nice"

  3. After what happened in the 2009 Big 12 Championship and the 2010 Texas A&M game I will never miss that scam of a conference.

  4. I LOVE being right about stuff! No matter how small! I guess if we could try and figure this out though. Better at winning games: Bo Better at losing games: Riley Better at being a dick: Bo Better at not being a dick: Riley Better at recruiting: Riley? Better at not liking recruiting at all: Bo Better at press conferences: Riley Worse at press conferences: Bo Better at beating teams from non-power5 schools at home: Bo Better at losing to teams from non-power5 schools at home: Riley Looks like it is about even! But Bo still had better seasons

  5. I figured there would be a quick pivot from "who's better" to "well, we weren't going to get any better with Bo. When all else fails, move the goalposts.

  6. So Bo increased the win total by 4 but still under-performed by 2. Riley regressed by 4 and under-performed by 4. So the coach who performed better was who? Stockpiling wins against scrubs would be better than stockpiling losses against scrubs, would it not? Bo was here long enough that he was playing with all his own talent. Was still winning 9 games. Riley has so far been unable to better what Bo could do in recruiting, so the trend isn't getting better. But it's fun to assume things would get a lot worse where there really isn't any evidence of that.

  7. I think that most of the posters on here will agree with an assertion that ADSE and HCMR might not be the ones to lead NU back to greatness for many reasons, but accountability for off-field transgressions? Really? That's the angle JP is using? And comparing this current accountability to the 1995 administration? You can't be serious. There is a long list of rape and assault victims that might disagree with this comparison.

  9. How he stated it: I consider a bad loss to a team that ends up with a losing record or a non-Power 5 conference team. So it is not really so absurd when you see how he stated the criteria. You essentially started your own thread in his thread about what you consider to be a bad loss.

  10. This topic turned into a s#!t show really quickly. There is no arguing, Riley's loss to NIU is the worst loss we've had in a really long time. It was Callahan-esque in how bad it was. I was at the Nebraska/Wisconsin B1G CCG, I remember the gut punch it was. I remember getting so upset during that 2012 OSU game I threw stuff at my tv. I remember that pain still. Bo had plenty of losses (4 every season) but I never gave up hope we could do better. I'd rewatch both wins and losses in attempts to see silver linings and improvement. After the dumpster fire that was his first season, getting blown out by Purdue, OSU, Iowa, Tennesee, almost losing to Arkansas State, Oregon putting up 42 points in a quarter (thank God they took their foot off the gas), and now a loss to f'ing NIU.... I sold my tickets for OSU and cancelled my flight. I might not go to the other 2 games I was planning on. I'm going to a music festival in a few weeks, I might not even record the game and just check a box score. I'm becoming more and more apathetic. Riley is ruining Nebraska football. No one can say that about Bo, no matter how much they hate his antics and his demeanour.

  11. No. Wanting to totally discount them is refusing to believe the facts in front of you. Accusing me of saying or even thinking they are "fail safe" is a fiction created entirely by you. Are they perfect? Of course not. Over a sufficiently large sample size are they a pretty good indicator? Yes. Are they the best we have to go on? Yes.

  12. The question in the article is if can Riley fix Nebraska. To me, that means "Can Riley get Nebraska to be a championship caliber team?" I think the answer right now is a resounding NO. Crap, the only thing that Riley has shown is that he can turn Nebraska into a consistent loser.

  13. Actually, the numbers don't show that. At all.

  14. I think over the years since 2003 and all the coaches we had since then, a Riley coached team might be worst of them all. Thats saying something considering what we had with Callahan. I truly question his ability to out coach anyone or be a great leader. You see it with his game to game preperation, his offensive and defensive mentality and approach, special teams, clock management, his depth chart management and recruiting (we need linemen!). Over and over as I pay attention to a Riley coached team, it is nothing short of pure frustration nearly 90% of the time. Heck, even Bo Pelini could come up with a great game plan every now and then. The Missouri game in 2010 comes to mind. I mean how do you hire a guy like Bruce Read or keep Banker as you DC over all these years up until last year? It's not loyal, it's ignorant and just plain stupid. Do we want that kind of a guy as our coach? I certainly hope not and i for sure dont.

  17. I don't know if you applied the same logic to the OSU years, but this is absurd. 2008 - Losses to Missouri and Oklahoma were bad losses. It's understandable that we lost them, but the way in which we lost them was very, very poor football, regardless of how good those teams were. 2009 - Um, Iowa State? Texas Tech? Forget about the team's record - we played like absolute horse s#!t against teams not as good as us. Those were BAD losses. 2010 - Washington in the bowl was no borderline. It was a terrible loss. 2011 - The loss against Wisconsin was a bad loss. So was the loss against Michigan. It's about how YOU play, not how good the other team is. 2012 - Ohio State was most certainly a bad loss, and the Wisconsin championship game was also a terrible loss. 2013 - UCLA, Minnesota and Iowa were all bad losses. 2014 - Wisconsin was pretty terrible. No bad losses in 5 of Bo's 7 years is one of the most absurd things I've ever seen argued on huskerboard.

  29. What, exactly, does this have to do with accountability? Let's say this is 100% true. He's off work, on his own time, and no longer representing the university. He can do anything he wants, including go to a strip club. There is no clause in his contract forbidding it, and until there is, this is a bulls#!t criticism.

  30. Power football, swagger, nasty defense..............yep, says championship in there doesn't it? Obviously the goal is to win championships for every program. I shouldn't have to spell that out to any fan of any program in the nation. Most folks just want to get back to being respected and competitive first, then worry about championships. Your opinion on Frost is based on his playing days, you said it another thread. There is no way you aren't allowing those thoughts to creep into your mind when you speak of him as a coach. I recall you speaking ill of T.O. for some handling of some incident at some point and time and holding negative feelings to this day about that. My opinion in your eyes doesn't matter and you know the reason why. Just agree to disagree I suppose..........

  31. That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that the 2 examples you showed don't hold water. And maybe what worked in the 90's was because it was the 90's. Thinking we can just load the athletic department full of former Nebraska players and everything will be right in the world without question is ignorant.

  32. Even if it is true, without verifiable proof, it's rumor and/or hearsay. I don't mind someone mentioning it once, but repeatedly bringing it up without evidence is disingenuous. We have a forum for discussions like that. The point is moot if evidence can be provided.

  33. Anyone dismissing JP because of the blemishes on his history must, if they're being honest about their reasons, similarly dismiss Tom Osborne when he speaks about the team. If "people who have made criminal mistakes in life but later repented" are outside of the arena you're willing to listen to, that includes Osborne.

  36. The question is why cliches like "you hit like a girl" still exist so commonly. Why is that still a thing? Why is the adjective "slutty" still used so freely about women's dress/actions/decisions without an equivalent sort of term for men? You seem to be more focused on the logistics - I'm more focused on the narrative and the tone of the culture, because the logistical things follow that, not the other way around. And yes. We have made amazing strides and leaps of progress. We've come a very long way. And yes. Inequalities of minority or persecuted groups are often exaggerated. That kind of comes with the territory, because the dominant culture or demographic is often completely blind to them! When society's boot is on your neck, you have to scream to be heard at all. If all were given an equal turn to speak with equal attention paid, then the exaggeration wouldn't be necessary, but when that's not true you need to cause a ruckus to get people to wake the hell up.

  41. I am not a JP fan at all and most of what he says is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo typical of the guys that played in the past...With that said, I don't think he was "lucky" to be part of the teams that did so well. I think he was clearly pretty talented, gifted and probably worked his ass off to get a full ride to a school like NU and then end up as a starter and AA (i think)

  42. "I WANT EVERYTHING TO BE THE WAY IT WAS WITH ALL HUSKER PEOPLE RUNNING THE SHOW, BUT NOT WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS" hahahahahahaha My opinion of Frost as a QB literally has nothing to do with my opinion of him as a HC. He hasn't been a HC long enough for me to have an opinion. But in your eyes, him being a 500 coach but winning a NC with an N on his helmet is all you need. TO is not infallable. He isn't God. You should try saying that and maybe you would understand why people like me have a differing opinion of him. Your opinion does matter. I wholeheartedly disagree with it. But it matters And I wanted to go back and say that I take back what I said about David Shaw at Stanford. Although he did continue what Harbaugh started, he is certainly doing well long after the Harbaugh effect would have worn off.

  43. OK....I found that they have all the episodes on line so I'm able to be caught up. This show is fascinating to me. I love history, especially history of military conflicts....specifically, what causes them, how they are carried out, what lead to the result and the lingering effects. With all of these, the Vietnam war is fascinating. So far, the show is up to about the middle of the Johnson term and the military build up and bombing has started.....and things are falling apart. Two things are interesting here when comparing it to now: a) The politicians involved have no clue what they are doing. It's like they are throwing mud against the wall and seeing what sticks. b) The lying from the government on what they are doing. Now, this is particularly interesting to me, because up till Trump, the government has been at least fairly open about what they are doing with troops. They would announce when and how many troops are deploying, how many in theatre....etc. HOWEVER, Trump campaigned on how stupid it is we advertise what we are doing militarily. So....now we have a much less transparent administration with these things. Flat out, I don't trust anything this administration does and to me, that's an extremely dangerous position to be in with a psychotic hot head like Trump.
