  1. The term "deep state" has come to mean any government official or agency that doesn't adhere to the policies or beliefs of the current administration. Such officials have existed in government throughout America's ever-changing political history. It's only now that we have a man in the White House who demands loyalty and is paranoid about anyone not willing to kiss his ring that the term "deep state" has entered the public's vernacular. It's not that it didn't exist under Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush & Obama. It's that they weren't scared of it. Trump is, and here we are.

I'll tell you what's something to witness, the attacks from Fox News, Republicans and people like yourself. Ridiculous hypocrisy? You mean like calling someone an "a-hole" and then whining about his "nastiness" towards others. It's hard to imagine a worse cause than attacking people who survived a school shooting.

  4. Your constant use of propaganda catch phrases like “liberal main stream media”....which basically means anyone but Foxnews....and “deep state” make it difficult to take your posts seriously. These terms are used for: liberal main stream media = only watch fox news because that’s the only place you woll get the truth. Deep State = used to delegitimize anyone in the government who actually knows what is going on and opposes trump on anything from policy to pointing out his corruption.

  5. Dear Everyone, I have changed my avatar from Deadpool to an actual picture of myself. Yes, that is actually me. I used a picture of myself as my avatar because I want people, especially the "anti-trans" haters to see me. And NOT in a ridiculous, selfish, look at me, instagram way. I want people, especially those who are "anti-trans" to see that: I am a human being I am NOT some bearded "man" in a dress I am NOT out to assault women or your daughters in a public restroom I am NOT seeking to destroy America and everything you hold dear I am NOT a satanist and there is NO evil, global, transgender agenda to force you, or anyone you know, to be trans or gay I DO NOT hate America My only "political agenda" is to have the same rights and protections under the law that a white, hetero, Christian male takes for granted And with respect to my picture, please don't be an a**hole and misuse it just so you can get a few laughs, or something worse... Sincerely, Marci

  11. Maybe it would help if you would overtly state which of your statements are or are not to be taken seriously. Because if you don't intend your statements to be taken at face value, or you're going to walk them back when you're called on them, they have no merit in a conversation like this.

  12. What do you think "forfeited his right to complain" means? Because it's exactly calling for censoring. Here's the definition of "forfeit": 1. lose or be deprived of (property or a right or privilege) as a penalty for wrongdoing.

  16. We are all well aware.... Why was "deep state" not an issue the past 16 years? Why was "fake" media not an issue the past 16 years? Why was "transgender in the military" not an issue the past 16 years? Why was "insert Trump 'tagline here' not an issue the past 16 years? Trump is an entertainer. Some people think he is the hero, some think he is the heel. Some think his story is a comedy, some a tragedy, some an "odyssey". This man has made a political career of making something out of nothing, for better or worse. The sad thing is, it is affecting our citizens and especially our youth. I was recently out of town with some students and we were grabbing a bite to eat. The TV in the dining room had up the illustration from Hannity about the "Mueller Crime Family" that included pictures of Mueller, Comey, and others. This kid, a high school senior, mumbled about those "tricky dems". I said, "most of the people on that graphic are Republican..." His response was something along the lines of this thread and I told him it was okay to hold whatever opinion he wanted, as long as it was at least based on fact. Calling Mueller and Comey radical, liberal, antagonist really doesn't fit reality. Sorry....

  17. No, it's exactly a car vs train comparison. Because neither scenario is ideal. Sure one hurts less and one hurts more. But neither is good and neither is desirable. Why? Because, they don't HAVE to be the only two options! That was confirmed after the disaster 4-8 year when we hired an actual desirable coach for the first time since 1997. But please, continue telling everyone how great Bo was 4 years after the guy got fired. He was a mess, his bosses were a mess. Just because his winnining percentage is better than Mr. 500 doesn't mean squat. He hit a plateau and stayed there, and that's ALL on him. His refusal to adapt, his refusal to make staff changes, his refusal to get out of his own damned egos way! Bo Pelini had a better record here than Mike Riley. Big freaking whoop. I can run faster than my 2 year old, that doesn't make me Usain Bolt. Get over Pelini, I did and I feel great.

  18. 17 slaughtered students is a bit more than a "local tragedy." His representatives in Florida have taken millions from the NRA which is absolutely blood money. It is pretty dumb, crazy and evil when we allow mass shootings to occur in every aspect of life in this country and yet we do nothing about it. Yeah, he might demand that some people not be allowed to have weapons of war, I can only imagine how he arrived to that conclusion. You're going awfully far out of your way to attack school shooting survivors, seems far more deplorable to me.

  19. Except if Jedi could learn force skills this way, why do they take more than 10 years for training in the Old Republic? It's an explanation just like Midi-Chlorians is an explanation for who's strong in the force. If it works for you, great. But just like Midi-Chlorians it doesn't work for everyone. This is why I think this movie would have been better served with a 6 month to year time jump and not worrying about picking up right when TFA ended.

  22. The term "deep state" is a reflection of the paranoid, desperate attempts at excusing away the failings and quite obvious flaws of the man sitting in the Oval Office. It's curious we've never heard much, if any, complaining coming from conservatives or the media figures supporting them until they put the most incompetent, openly corrupt leader we've ever seen in office. So now, instead of addressing his bad behavior, it's miraculously become a deep state problem that's destroying the country. No amount of Op Eds from sympathetic people is going to change my mind on this. I do agree heartily, though - drain the swamp. Let's get Trump and his pathetic circle of toadies and corrupt underlings out of Washington ASAP.

  25. See, this is where you lose me immediately Ric, and why I think you turn so many people on this board off. There's a way to express your feelings and thoughts about someone or a topic without being condescending with the elementary school bully act and calling people names. As an example, the comments above would have been seemingly open to discussion and debate if you simply opted not to put "nutjob" in it. I think it's really incredible that people continue to engage with you at all. Your smugness and self-rightous attitude seems to either be a huge bluff meant to troll or you're overcompensating for something.

  29. It is quite disappointing that POB quit in mid spring. Not good thinking on his part in my view. Why not finish out the sppring (only a couple weeks left anyway) and play in the game and get whatever benefits you can from the program before your transfer? If Oregon State has nobody better (I suspect they have some competition at QB), then maybe follow Riley. After all, Riley recruited him and has known him for several years now. POB wasn't good enough to beat out Tanner Lee (not exactly Joe Namath except for the INTs part). POB is a big disappointment for me although we all knew he was not a runner. The question is do we really have anybody on the team that has the QB skills / measurements Frost wants and needs?

  33. Probably 200 yards average. Sometimes I hit >250 but very rare. Like 20 holes apart. The best was 18 handicap in circa 1990 year. Starting golfing, 1984. Quit golfing, 1995 or so (R.I.P. ---- thank god). Never broke 80. BTW, in the first swing in my first golfing round (1984), I got a birdie score ... easy-peasy, natural, I thought. Next hole, quintuple bogey. Back to earth. I played in Lincoln - BTW, prior to 1992 year, $10 fees or less per round. How much today? Holmes Lake Pioneer Park .... many times Mahoney Across the street from Mahoney .... 9 holes executive course. EDIT: According to Google map, no longer exist. Now Subway franchise. Outside Lincoln city limits (east). I forgot course name. I remember poor maintenance. About 10-15 miles east from Lincoln. Again I forgot course name. Fairly new course I think (1990). In Norman: OU golf course .... before vast layout. Old OU GC: $8 fees per round with unlimited holes. New OU GC: $30+ per round .... too much for me Westwood. Public. Very easy layout and totally flat. However, a couple of small ponds. The Trails. Used to be semi-private. Now, totally private One time event: Elmwood GC in Sioux Falls (my dad's hang-out). And outside US country, Panama Canal zone. Adjacent to OU campus . OU Jimmy Austin GC = NU Warren Buffett GC !!!!

  34. But doesn't Bernie and his supporters tell you that even the "left" media you've mentioned can't be that far left if there's a large political group to the left of them? What positions do you find "further left" and "pretty extreme" about Hillary, 2008, or 2016 Democratic Party that weren't part of what Bill Clinton was doing? I find it very strange that you think Bill is a moderate while Hillary is extreme when the political differences between them are tiny.

  37. I don't think he'll do that until it's him that loses an election (if he's still president in 2020). He badmouths his party members even when they vote with him. I do fear he will ask people to fight for him if he loses in 2020, after shouting to the rooftops that the election is a sham and trillions of people voted illegally. He might even refuse to leave, so he either gets dragged off or takes control of the would-be draggers. This all sounds loony but it doesn't take that much imagination to see this scenario.

  44. Listened to a podcast called Blank Check (decent podcast which started out looking at the Prequels and then moved onto looking at directors who received "Blank Checks" for movies). Can't remember exactly but it was basically TFA was an homage to Star Wars and TLJ was different. I've been vocal about my thoughts of TLJ and bottom line is I have very mixed feelings about TLJ. Is it a good Star Wars movie? Debatable but I lean towards yes. Is it a good continuation of TFA? I'd say no because there are too many differences in characters in a time frame too close to the end of TFA (literally hours). Is it a good Saga movie? Again I'd say no because there was no continuity in characterizations between both TLJ and the other movies. TLJ would have been better accepted as a movie if it wasn't a Saga movie. If the movie did not involve the major players of the Sequel Trilogy and was just a movie by itself, you wouldn't have to worry about the 40 years of Luke Skywalker fans complaining about his characterization. I think my biggest issue is that it just feels like TLJ is a series of missed opportunities. One of the deleted scenes has Finn throwing what Phasma did in TFA (lowering the shields to Starkiller Base) back at her which causes the stormtroopers surrounding them to side eye glance at eachother. You know what would have been cooler than Canto Bight? Finn drumming up a stormtrooper rebellion seeing as they are child soldiers stolen by the First Order. Even within its own story as is, it doesn't make sense for Holdo to keep the plan as close to her chest for as long as she does (or at least not telling Poe). You can't have her be standoffish and antagonistic to a "hero" for most of the movie and then at the last second tell everyone that you actually like him. The only reason Poe did not know about the plan to escape the ship (especially since he was 100% on board once he actually learned that there was a plan besides run until they die) is to provide the audience with a gotcha moment. An easy way to make it better is to make it a spy hunt with Holdo informing Poe that there is a plan besides just hope but it's on a need to know basis because there might be a spy. How could the First Order suddenly have the technology to track through hyperspace now? It's just not possible. So Poe either sends Finn off on the Canto Bight side trip to close off that angle (or even as a way to get him off the ship to point they spy hunters away from him), or Poe, Finn, and Rose are the leaders of the Spy hunt. Here is another article that presents my issues (going over some of the same issues described here, but better than I can): https://www.theodysseyonline.com/theory-rian-johnson-never-star-wars-life
