With all due respect, because I hold the teaching profession in very high regard, it is disappointing that you, as an educator, are failing to apply actual evidence to your argument and using logical fallacies in your responses. The gun violence issue is complex, multi-faceted problem, and it needs to be an exercise in critical thinking. Repeatedly saying "everyone just wants to blame guns and guns alone" is false and intellectually lazy, and following it up with the old "I'll take my ball and go home" shtick is embarrassing. What is it that you teach? We need gun owners and conservatives in this debate and to be willing to engage with others to find a solution. But for gods sake we need to use logic and evidence.

That's exactly what AOC ran on, and it won her the primary over a powerful incumbent Democrat. Young and a tick naive? Sure. Stupid? No. Not even close. Weird that she's your go-to example in a realm of guys who bring snowballs on the Senate floor to dispute Global Warming.

Let's not forget that our current system is a recent development due to the bastardization of what the Second Amendment was intended for in the 50s and 60s. As late as the 1930s, the Supreme Court was bringing up the militia part of the Second Amendment and indicating that meant the Amendment did not protect individual gun ownership rights (an intent that the Federalist Papers backs up). Like a lot of "recent" changes to our country (from a historical perspective), bastardizing the intent of the Bill of Rights, mainly by Baby Boomers, is causing a lot of problems that subsequent generations are now having to pay for. Of course, the irony is that these same people wrap themselves in the flag and confuse jingoism with patriotism while they make these changes, which helps them frame anyone opposed to their idiocy as unpatriotic or anti-American. Because many of Trump's supporters likely won't be able to procure firearms? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think it would do everyone well to admit there's a whole stew of problems going on. And one of those problems is sweeping generalizations that assign every problem to either the Left or Right. It's a mental health issue. But it's not simply the "mentally ill." There's just a lot of free-floating anxiety out there. Millennials are the first generation of Americans expected to die younger and poorer than their parents. There's rampant extinction going on with the planet and the doomsday warnings are within our lifetimes. Racism and xenophobia are increasing worldwide, and far more prevalent than a lot of Americans like me wanted to believe. There's a strain of American patriot defending Nazis and the Confederacy, and America's top-rated news network is serving as their apologists. That's just nuts. People of all political stripes seem to think the U.S. Constitution is being trampled and that our system of checks and balances is being dismantled. People buy into the craziest conspiracy theories, but some of the craziest are suddenly more believable. There is a calculated war on science, academia, and facts in general, so the truth is open to the loudest bidder. It's unsettling to say the least. What mass shooters have in common isn't mental illness; it's a sense of being powerless in a life without a future. It's not exactly irrational. But they also think they can exact revenge on the people who seem happier/luckier than they are. That's sick. But the sentiment is replicated millions of time every day on the Internet, without guns. Everyone is just way too angry and acting out. I dunno. Film, TV, and video games seem to have a place in this, but it's not uniquely American. I'm not buying that it's the lack of prayer in public schools, but you gotta think some spirituality and community and belief in a greater good would help. And while I would never dream that background checks and select weapons bans would solve the violence and anxiety itself, how could it possibly hurt?

Um, just I asked you how you proposed we implement a replacement for the party system because I was soliciting your input. There's nothing in asking for your input that even remotely aligns with your misplaced allegory. It's rich that you're getting on folks for misrepresenting what you're saying when answering a basic, open-ended question about your beliefs on the topic is a bridge too far for you.

Dude, we know who funds them. Despite the s#!tty campaign finance laws we know the NRA pour's money into the GOP. We know Soros does the same for the DNC. We know the Koch brothers were beefing up the GOP. And it's extremely apparently who backs Trump. AOC is a literal outsider who is rocking the boat of both parties. So I'm not sure that's a good comparison.

The justice democrats is everything American politics should be (everyday working people running for office and no corporate donations) and trying to get rid of what youre complaining about. And then you call one of their candidates stupid. Do you want govt. to work for everyone or do you not?

I think the coaches want to redshirt McCaffrey to get an extra year of eligibility between him and Martinez. That doesn't mean McCaffrey won't play, but the coaching staff will limit it to 4 games, and go with Vedral as the "competent backup". That plan would be thrown out the window if Martinez were to miss significant time and the coaching staff feels like McCaffrey would be the best choice at QB to win those games while Martinez is out.

It's checks and balances for the same reason you have managers and directors in a business. You're less likely to make huge errors if their are multiple chains involved who check what is being done. The President's real power lies in the veto, and their ability to appoint people to unelected positions within the government. They also function as one of the main contacts with foreign nations. Further more they are commander of the armed forces, and over the years they have been given a too much leeway. So they do have a lot of power. There was a time when I would have agreed with your view, but once you start following the money you realize where the problem is. Special interest groups. In this case the gun lobby. There is zero reason for the Democratic party to not want to increase gun regulation and follow through. They typically take no money from the NRA. The gun debate, unlike healthcare or wall street is a strictly one way street when it comes to funding. The NRA backs the GOP with gobs of money. You will find nothing close on the Democratic side. There is only one reason we see no change in this country and it's the NRA. To suggest anything else means your not being honest, or haven't paid attention.

Um... the House passed legislation. Moscow Mitch won't even let it come to the floor in the Senate. Don't "both sides" this one. This is entirely on Mitch McConnell and the Republicans.

Banning certain weapons, or classification of weapons and enacting tougher back ground checks won't stop all shootings, or mass shootings. You would be a fool to think that. But they will reduce the number of occurrences. I think Australia and NZ have proven that. At this point anything is better than nothing.

There's a reason for that. In the absence of Hillary Clinton, the best fundraising tool Republicans ever had, hired media consultants crafted a messaging platform for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to replace her as the "go-to" liberal demon. There are many key difference between AOC and Hillary Clinton. As has already been pointed out to you, AOC actually checks off a lot of the boxes you supposedly want in your elected official -- she challenged and defeated a Clinton-like Dem because the party and government was no longer representing real working people. The media consultants figured if they posed her as a shrill, socialist dimwit, you'd pass it along without really thinking. They also see AOC as a legitimate threat. They know what they're doing, unfortunately.

When you call someone "stupid" but provide no good evidence as to why you think that, its lazy and you should get called out. I would get called out also.

I think we may prove to be deep at QB, but I think we're kidding ourselves if we're claiming it's "deep" now. You've got Martinez obviously, but for depth it's: Vedral - he's been in the system for a couple years, but he was basically a 2 star and has had very limited game reps. He hasn't been overly impressive with those game reps either - the UCF numbers are good, but it's super limited action. Objectively there is nothing outside of the coaches saying they're comfortable with him playing to indicate he's ready to play on a division champion team. Bunch - a little more playing time than Vedral, but similar in that he really hasn't played a lot and is a walk on. Technically he was rated higher than Vedral out of HS, but Vedral is a better fit for the offense. But again, nothing from the outside indicating he's good depth. McCaffrey - obviously the most talented, but he was generally regarded as a very raw QB prospect. It sounds like he maybe wasn't as raw as people though and Verduzco/Frost are QB whisperers, but just because 2AM played at a high level as a true freshamn doesn't mean all QBs will. I get the argument for us having depth, but it's pretty much all based on the coaches saying their comfortable with all of these guys playing. No one outside of Martinez is proven in any sense. If another school claimed to be deep at QB when the players behind the starter were a low 3 star sophomore with 38 career passes, a walk-on junior with one start and 47 attempts, and a highly rated true freshman athlete we would call BS. I don't really believe anyone has QB depth, you don't know until it's tested.

No one is claiming it will ever completely stop them from happening. We're saying that it will improve the situation, and something is better than nothing. Seat belts don't save every life in a car crash, but we made them mandatory because they can help greatly reduced fatalities. There is no reason anyone needs a 100 round magazine. I don't even think you need a 30 round magazine. If it's going to take you more than 10 rounds to hit a target multiple times with an AR style semiautomatic rifle, you probably shouldn't be using that weapon to begin with. The US has more guns per capita than any developed nation. We have more guns than people, and you want to say that, maybe we don't have a gun problem? I think that's just not wanting to admit their might be an issue there. I don't want to ban all guns. I don't want to not address mental health issues in this country, but to say guns aren't a problem seems foolish to me at this point.

I'm sure all talking points were fed to Rogan by Bernie's team, but I can't imagine any other candidate actually detailing their platform like Bernie has done here. Bernie seems like someone who genuinely cares about the working class. I wanted him to be president last time around, if only because he is an independent politician, but the further along we get the more his platform resonates with me.

I always liked this feature. It's a great way to learn what your opponents think about you. Usually this stuff is pretty spot-on, too. I think the two biggest changes our opponents are going to see, that these guys talk about, are attitude and depth. It'll take a while too, as the last quote alludes to.
