I'm pretty sure both sides have talked a lot about fixing immigration so your comment about one side not caring is pretty hollow. The only thing I have heard from one side is building a wall. Meanwhile, people being stopped at the border are high right now. So, if one side doesn't care, they wouldn't be being stopped. That argument from Republicans is tired and worn out.7 points

Hiring someone specifically based on race is about as extreme as racism gets. You are way out of line. There are currently a whopping total of 15 black head coaches in all of the FBS football programs. View points like yours are the reason this world is so quick to scream racism at the first thing they don't agree with. It's disgusting really.6 points

The idea of Deion Sanders in a recruit's living room in a farm house in the panhandle is inspiring6 points

It's literally a kitchen sink. You ever been to Waco? They aren't common.6 points

Nebraska top 5 is in place. I have been told Urban Meyer, Deion Sanders, Mike O'Shea are on the list. Still waiting for the other 2.5 points

We need a coach that'll stuff a sheet of paper down his pants: You can tell that the guy means business.5 points

No way. Nebraska is way too conservative to handle the flash and flamboyance of Deion. Polar opposites.5 points

I feel that I have very little insight into the process because I do not work for the AD. You’re posting a lot about how the process should work, and yet you admit you are going to extrapolate what the process must have been if it lands on a guy you don’t believe in.4 points

Memba that time they had a plan for healthcare too? Didn't find any substance either when I follow the links.4 points

To the bolded, are you kidding me? Tell me throughout each of the coaching changes Nebraska made where there was a minority coach that was passed over. If one really thinks logically about this, we'd more than likely have a minority coach had Pud not screwed everything up. I have no doubt that Turner Gill was the next head coach in waiting when Solich was here. I wouldn't have a problem with Deion being named our next head coach, but it has absolutely nothing to do with his race. He would bring immediate interest in the program. I would argue he could very well bring more player interest to the program than Urban could. He is a bit lacking in experience, but I don't think he should be overlooked because of it.4 points

Nope. One of the worst actually. Many people are saying Trev should be fired for using them.4 points

Recruiting hasn't been our problem. Development and coaching have. 2018 - 4th in the B1G and 1st in the west 2019 - 4th in the B1G and 1st in the west 2020 - 4th in the B1G and 1st in the west 2021 - 5th in the B1G and 2nd in the west https://buckeyeswire.usatoday.com/lists/big-ten-football-recruiting-rankings-for-last-ten-years-ohio-state-buckeyes/ Recruiting to have someone completely different is what lead to Mike Riley. If Deon had decent experience, I would be all for him. He doesn't have remotely close to a qualifying resume so in my eyes, he would be a massive gamble.4 points

Deion has been an FCS coach for just over two years. Give him time at an FBS school, preferable P5, and some success there before we consider hiring him. The last thing Nebraska needs is another coach with very little FBS experience.4 points

Dave Aranda is an absolute madman. Here he is ( FOR 10 HOURS!!!!!) just sitting down with a coaches clinic in front of a whiteboard in a windowless room just going in on defensive schemes and ideas. Would be my very first choice if I didn't think he has plans to take over the world in the next 5 years.4 points

IMO, he was a desperate hire, not even a fit for what Scott was doing. Mixing a spread offense with the WCO is laughable. I was pretty disappointed with the hire. I felt like it was throwing darts and hoping you hit something good. Nothing personal towards Whipple, just not really a good fit at all.4 points

So, let me get this straight. They cancelled the flight and stranded migrants at a remote hotel to play a joke on the media? The same media that is keeping us informed on what is going on? And…..Desantis is spending $12 million of Florida’s money to do this in another state on an issue that isn’t affecting his state. And….people think he would be a great president. Do I have this right? And this is all supposed to convince us we should vote for him and other republicans?4 points

So how will you ever know if he reached out to a candidate? It sounds like if he hires Campbell, you’re going to assume he ‘zeroed’ in on him and didn’t shop the job to others.3 points

We just did. And it didn't work out. How many more times should we try that experiment instead of hiring a proven program-builder?3 points

That's just it. This doesn't have anything to do with fixing immigration. If it did, Republicans would be promoting an idea of how to fix it. But, to this date, nobody has. Not Republicans or Democrats. This is nothing more than a political stunt that's costing Floridians 12 million and using humans as political pawns.3 points

The circular arguments about this, that and the other reasons DJT should not be held accountable for being a sloppy crime lord are embarrassing. He was already there, but good to see Dersh keeping his spot on the massive pile of hacks debasing themselves at the altar of Trump warm.3 points

Hahaha Yeah, because the farm houses in the panhandle are loaded with 5 star recruits. He’s Deion effin Sanders. He’s getting into any living room he wants to get in, anywhere in the country. And literally everything he can sell at Jackson State (minus the all black thing) he can sell at Nebraska x100.3 points

Your post is an even bigger joke than the original post...which is saying something. A) Deion could kill it here and is exactly what Nebraska needs. He's much more than just a celebrity. He's punching way above his weight at Jackson State. B) "Urban will have jobs that are better fits for him?" Name one.3 points

To be honest I am struggling to even come up with a top 5 I would be happy with. I am not excited about the potential relocations from Iowa State, Kansas, and Baylor. All 3 seem like OK hires but nothing I am excited about. O'Brien fits into that group for me- not exciting but maybe he would do good- idk. Urban is intriguing- like being at the bar when a hot girl asks you to do a shot of tequila. It sounds fun, and you know it will feel great for a while but you know what tomorrow is going to bring. In the end I'm hoping that the guys who get paid to make these decisions get it right this time. Whoever that may be, I'll support the team and the new coach.2 points

I mean I was already aware of Warnock's background, just not his education. So that's neat to know. I would never call Warnock flawless, nor any elected official, nor any human being. And obviously I'm not an unbiased opinion as it would take some kind of act of God for be to pull the lever for any R at this point. But I like to think I can still evaluate things logically after acknowledging my own bias. And it seems to me so much of the Republican strategy at this point hinges on convincing people to believe both sides are equally bad thus don't worry about the flaws of the R because the D is just as bad. Which is generally a load of crap. Also, be afraid, be very afraid. Because scared people are generally good at making rational decisions and hard to manipulate.2 points

I like what Deion is doing as a coach, but his sales pitch to good recruits at Jackson St is different (and more effective) than what he would be able to sell at Nebraska. At Jackson St he is able to sell a quality education at an HBCU with tight-knit community and a supportive environment for black players, which is very different than recruiting at a P5 school. Add in the cool flashiness of playing for Prime Time, and the availability of NIL money even at a lower division, and he has a recipe for recruiting success. I have a hard time seeing him be able to sell the same concepts at a school like Nebraska.2 points
