  4. Hope you're right on Aranda. He shouldn't even be in our top 10.

  5. It will be the darkest day in the history of NU football if Campbell even sets foot inside Memorial Stadium, much less if he’s named head coach. Trev will have lowered NU’s standards to the very bottom of college football. It will be a day which lives in infamy. What I’m saying is that such a catastrophic event would be NU’s Pearl Harbor. Trev would be the Japanese in this scenario. We all have high hopes of getting a quality coach and this would be Trev flying in and bombing all of our hopes and dreams for this program. He would be making us accept IOWA STATE’s coach, which is completely unacceptable. On top of that, his record is mediocre outside of one year. His reputation as AD would be beyond repair. Such a hire would set NU back 20 more years.

  6. I don’t want Mike Riley 2.0 as the next coach. What was Riley’s record in his last year at Oregon State? 5-7, which Campbell is on pace for this year. The arguments for Campbell on here are very similar to the ones for Riley years ago. “Winning at Oregon State is hard.” Now it’s “winning at Iowa State is hard.”

  7. Its either a splash hire or mickey joseph. Everyone else is just the same turd in the punchbowl.

  8. Is that why they get AA status, go to the NFL and stay in the NFL at a higher clip than 3 and 4 star guys? Obviously they can't hold a candle to the 2 star and under crowd but pretty sure 5 stars actually have a pretty high success rate when you actually look at the numbers

  11. I'm assuming this is what the question was about. https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/top-us-oil-group-urges-biden-take-fuel-export-ban-off-table-letter-2022-10-04/ It's not a ban on US petroleum production. It's a ban on exports of it. Meanwhile, I can't count the number of times I've heard or read Republican supporters asking, "why do we export that, why don't we just use it here?" Which, is an idiotic statement if you know anything about the oil industry. I'm not saying I support this. But, the tweet makes it sound like Biden is banning petroleum products from being used in the US.

  13. I live in iowa and have been to ames hundreds of times. I see no difference in Lincoln vs Ames other than our stadium is quite a bit larger.

  14. I am not rooting for Campbell to get the nod at HC down in Lincoln, but the hate on this board has gone completely overboard. Campbell has taken a turd and shined it up as nice as you can at Iowa State. He has his knocks sure, but what he does is produce some NFL talent and his lines are always tough. If he had the monetary support of a University like Nebraska I think he would thrive tbh. My knocks and why I don't have Campbell in my top five (still disappointed Trev hasn't confided in me for what I think) are the fact he doesn't have a full time special teams coach and there is a good chance he doesn't bring Mickey with him. I know there is a chance of the ladder with all the candidates with the exception of Aranda as I am assuming he would keep Mickey and Busch to be major parts of his new staff. Calling Campbell trash, however is inaccurate to say the least.

  16. I just watched the 60 minutes with Deion and I’ll say this about him.. 1. He’s a WINNER through and through. Everything about him is hardwired and conditioned for success. No way would you find him drunk at g25 after a game. 2. If he can get 5 star recruits to freaking Jackson St.. he can get them to come to Nebraska. 3. He’d be a shock hire for sure…but if we ever have a hope of getting back to the top.. we need a shock.

  21. I never said Campbell is my first choice either but clearly no one here has been to Ames, IA....good luck winning football games there. He has done a great job IMO

  22. Of course he doesn't. Can we stop talking about losers like Campbell and Leipold and get back to discussing winners like Urban and Deion? Trev's not offering Campbell or Leipold and neither of them is leaving their programs anyway. See how it works?

  23. I have no idea if Deion would be successful here. But, I believe that Deion and MJ together recruiting would knock it out of the ball park. I'm not sure they would clash. The clip of Deion talking about being old school sure sounds like that would be right up MJ's alley.

  25. I agree - if your plan is to hire Campbell you're better off keeping Mickey instead

  26. I disagree. I invite anyone to watch that 60 minutes and not salivate at the thought of him at the helm. I don’t believe you can compare him to frost.. his every action is a testament to his conviction to winning. The same clearly can’t be said about Frost.

  31. What I’ve learned from this thread is absolutely nothing except some people seem to think that every and all coaches, living or in some cases dead, are in play. The constant mentioning of people like Urban or Kiffin amazes me. Not. Happening.

  33. If Trev were smart, he would make a pitch to Urban that he could go out on a positive note by turning NU around. Realistically, I think he would actually consider it. You can’t convince that the guy does not care what people think about him. The most recent impression people have of him is him flopping in the NFL and a girl grinding on him at a bar. I’m sure he doesn’t like that. Trev needs to stop messing around and capitalize on his golden opportunity. It really doesn’t get any easier.

  34. One of the media guys said he's floated "the name" out there and is pretty sure that 80% of the fan base would be excited about it. I don't follow him that closely, but I'm guessing he has floated A LOT of names. But I do think that Lane Kiffin makes sense (and I'm guessing 80% of the fan base would be excited about him coming to Nebraska). It also almost becomes a 2fer because his pop - Monte Kiffin - would likely come with -- -- currently his "player personnel analyst" at Old Miss and most will remember him as Nebraska's DC from (what?) '74-77 under Osborne. All Monte did was: "mastermind the Tampa 2 scheme" in the NFL. His defensive philosophy has several hallmarks. Speed over size and strength. Coordinators that employ Kiffin-style defenses will often replace linebackers with safeties in order to put more speed on the field. In particular, linebackers must be able to cover receivers; in the Tampa 2 scheme, one linebacker frequently drops back deep into coverage, turning what looks like a Cover 2 defense into a Cover 3. Kiffin's defenses also employ quick, penetrating defensive tackles. Preventing scores over preventing yardage. A Kiffin coordinator doesn't care how many yards an offense gains, as long as the team doesn't score, an approach known as bend-but-don't-break. Multiple defenses from one look. Kiffin-style defenses try to use the same personnel (or the same kind of personnel) at all times, so that the offense cannot adjust its play call based on the alignment of the defensive personnel. Attacking and causing turnovers. Kiffin-style defenses focus on getting the ball away from the offense by stripping the ball away from the ball carrier or reading the quarterback to make an interception. The risk is that if the ball is not stripped or intercepted, then the ball carrier on offense has a better chance of gaining more yards or scoring; the reward is that the offensive drive is stopped without a score more often, frequently giving good field position." - source Wikipedia See also:

  37. You know he is weak & pathetic, but let's focus on the fact that SHE is strong, and educated, and motivated, and driven. She doesn't look like a good option just because he's a bad one. (I know i"m preaching to the choir a bit here, but it's worth saying). Val is tough as nails and very qualified for the job.

  39. This really can't be emphasized enough. It's not just you, I think anyone who's being objective at all would have to acknowledge that, other than FBS experience, Deion checks all the blocks. And he adds one that none of the other candidates have...instant brand exposure and lift, which we are badly in need of today. I know on the surface a lot of people didn't think he was a "cultural fit" but, the more I see of him, I think he's a much better "cultural fit" than most thought. Old school, no-nonsense, discipline, off the field first, builder of young men, cuts his own grass, likes to hunt and fish, man of great faith, obsessive work ethic, attention to detail, and on, and on, and on. Hell, he might be the perfect "cultural fit." The more I see from him, I might just be talking myself into him being my first choice.
