I can't believe it is a debate for anyone anymore. Nick Saban is the greatest coach in college football history. It's incredibly difficult to win a national title and he has 7 of them. How many consecutive classes at Alabama could say they won a national title in their 4 or 5 year stint at the school? It's a ridiculous number. Even the Bear Bryant diehards have said he's #2 behind Nick. We won't know how many T.O. might have had if he coached to age 72 but consistent excellent for a lot of years is part of the evaluation. Nick is #15 points

Yes, without a moment's hesitation. You hire the significantly better coach 100% of the time. There's zero good reason to take a chance on a "wait-and-see" guy if you have a home run hire lined up. I don't necessarily agree with the premise that if he is interested he's only interested for one year. It's much more likely he wouldn't be interested at all. Even if he is only here a year, that means he did a really good job and someone poached him.4 points

This is why you should not put any stock into polls. lots of manipulation from everyone. Polls and surveys were clickbait before clickbait.3 points

My 99 year old neighbor lived near Berlin during World War II and watched her best friend die next to her when their air raid shelter was bombed. The surviving Germans prayed they would be "liberated" by the U.S. rather than Russian troops, who exacted violent revenge. She spent five years of exacting subterfuge to get her parents out of East Berlin and eventually to the U.S. She absolutely sees the parallels of Trump's America to the Nazi rise to power, and tells me Bernie Sanders would be considered a moderate anywhere in Europe. That's my anecdotal observation for the day.3 points

That's bs. Kalen DeBoer has no reason to be afraid of facing Matt Rhule. Alabama got a great coach. Proven winner. I wonder if he brings his whole staff or he brings a few coaches. He already has the players there so he should be able to win right away.3 points

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2024/01/11/why-did-nick-saban-retire-explains-decision-leave-alabama/72190318007/ "There's no illness. Ms. Terry is fine, I'm fine. It was the can you sustain the season from a mental grind standpoint? sounds like age just presents him from doing the job how he had previously done it. I wonder if he was honest about this decision with recruits. There is no way he hadn’t thought about this the past few months. Not saying he made an absolute decision, but he had to have beginning thoughts.2 points

We hadn't had snow since October but it took me forever to shovel the driveway and the sidewalks, so I said "f#&% it" and bought a Kobalt one. We haven't had snow since, but we got a whole inch, maybe 2, of dry powder last night. Not worth breaking it out. Maybe I'll get to use it someday lol2 points

Alright, thoughts from the dual. I agree with everyone else that it was a subpar night. Nebraska looked gassed out there while Iowa was very crisp. 125--Ayala completely dominated. Smith seemed to be able to get to his setups and he had an underhook a few times but he generated zero offense out there. 133--Best performance of the night IMO. Van Dee wrestled outstanding. Great mat awareness, great pace. Just a terrific showing. 141--I don't if Woods is just levels above Hardy or if Woods is just a bad matchup for him. Woods seems to have completely figured out Hardy's funk and unless Hardy can completely change things up, tonight's result is going to be par for the course. For the record, I hate Hardy's style where he lets everyone into his legs and just is able to gumby. 149--Was honestly hoping for bonus out of Ridge. Iowa guy was clearly not going to do anything and I thought Ridge played with his food too much. 157--No real notes, just 2 high level dudes going at it and Franek was a little bit better. Pure toss up match. 165--This was a pretty good 'there are levels to this' match. Caliendo is every single bit of 165 and you can tell Antrell is a little bit undersized (although he looks great out there). Caliendo is just really tough. Good effort out of Taylor and he did a nice job of not getting majored there at the end. 174--Good fight out of Bubba, I think Kennedy is just better and we saw that tonight. 184--Pinto so weird man, he's a mutant athlete, so explosive, so strong. He's got NCAA champ upside but the gas tank isn't quite there and he weirdly has bad mat awareness at times. He looked really close to getting taken down there and losing the MD. Now, I could be wrong and he's just so freaking strong that he knew exactly where he was at and felt he wasn't in any danger. 197--Man, this was bad. Allred looks terrible out there. It's shocking to see him this year versus last year, he's gotta be banged up. HWT--Fun match, as others have mentioned, Nash was gassed out in the 2p. He kept pretty good positioning throughout the match and had a couple good attacks. He's going to be a problem going forward once he gets his sea legs just due to his size and strength. He'll get torched by the top end guys, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him make the NCAAs.2 points

Nash gassed. That’s fine. Allred was inexcusable. Robb should be smarter. That’s not a match he should lose. Giving an escape to end period. Getting taken down and then 35 seconds to get up to send it to OT and doesn’t get it done. VanDee was by far our best match. No points from Lovett or Pinto in Period 1 just isn’t going to get it done.. After 133 Nebraska had every chance to take control of the dual. They did not. Disappointing.2 points

Nah... Trump MIGHT be the R But...until any of us can name a new Trump voter or a new Non-JB voter... this will be a cake wake...and that poster that loves China is gonna owe me.2 points

Well, by not even negotiating to see it kind of shows which side is unserious. But until their voters punish them, which you never will, why should they negotiate? You vote for them anyway. No matter the moral rot, Republican voters are steadfast in their dedication to rewarding political theater over substance.2 points

You're literally talking out your a$$. The quality numbers are plane and simple the number of issues reported by the customer. That's it. There's no weighting and no bias. I see the data every year as part of my job. It's pretty obvious there's no fudging the data. Ford got hammered sometime back when they had a bunch of new vehicle launches. Jeep got their a$$ kicked with the new Grand Cherokee. Dodge and Ram end up being tops last year because they have some extremely old products that have had a decade to work out problems. Foreign companies routinely end up at the top and have been toping luxury segments too as if late. Not sure why you're so distrustful. If there were funny businesses you'd see people dropping out left and right as well as lawsuits.1 point

I have had about 6 different concentration camp survivors come as guest speakers for classes I teach and they pretty much all mention that, of course they wanted to be freed, they would rather have the US free them instead of the commies. With that said, those commies didn't f#&% around when it came to killing nazis. Sadly, it has been about 10 years since I have had those speakers, there are just not as many around anymore and a lot of them don't like to speak about what they went through.1 point

Dangit! I was really looking forward to a good old blizzard game. Seriously. At least we still get the Chiefs game at subzero temps.1 point
-
Agreed. They Dolphins and Chiefs played in Germany earlier this year, and now in subzero weather for the playoffs. Streaming on Peacock. Per Weather Chanel - While snow is not expected, kickoff temperatures near zero are forecast, and lingering northwest winds will send wind chills well below zero.1 point
