  1. Calling it now:  We will wear all red uniforms for at least 1 game next year at home.

  2. Sam Koch has been punting in the NFL for 14 years and earned almost $30M.

Wonder if he'd be willing to coach in Lincoln as a Special Teams coordinator. Figure he'd have some good insight and instincts with 18+ years of quality competition under his belt.

  3. Mizzou is hiring someone named Eliah Drinkwitz as their head coach and paying him $4m/year.

  4. Today I am getting an ad for female underwear that I can personalize with my picture all over it.  WTF?

And the union has a ton of places to eat now compared to back in the day.

I also think Amigo's was hurt when people started being smart and not driving home drunk from the bars.  That meant less people stopping at Amigo's on their way home, and having their Uber take them right home.

Amigo's isn't great, but the food brings back nostalgic memories.  The OP of the scalding bucket of cheese was spot on.  That had to be the hottest substance known to man.

Luckily the new AD fixed that IIRC

  7. I thought the game was a 2:30 kick and only found out it was a 1:30 kick when I saw a 50 yard Iowa TD highlight on the Texas/Tech game. Then I turned over just in time to see a 2nd 50 yard TD run.

Fan apathy, it’s a real thing.

  8. Anyone have Sonos speakers?  I am thinking of getting a few of their microphone-less ones (One SL) if there are any Black Friday deals.

Sonos is fantastic. While I don’t own one, an old roommate did and I enjoyed it. It’s my goal to have a system in my house someday.

Love Sonos. Have a sub, playbar and a couple ones. Hits hard. Connect Spotify, control everything with your phone....its awesome. Going to get a beam for upstairs soon.

  9. In Vegas for a conference. Haven’t seen a number posted yet for Saturday (I saw the +13 tweets) . But I’m pretty sure I’ll be on Wisky and the points...

  11. Minnesota finally sold out their stadium for Penn St. I mean it’s only their biggest game in 60 years and it took until 40 hours before kickoff to happen.

    1. NUance

      NUance

Oh that's too bad.  They broke their long non-sellout streak.

  12. If the CFP committee is going to rank Penn St above Clemson, then Penn St also needs to be above Bama.  Penn St has 2 top 25 wins, while Clemson and Bama have 0.

    2. swmohusker

      swmohusker

The 1 point win over UNC is probably what has them lower.  Bama has been pretty dominant.

    3. Red Five

      Red Five

Bama’s schedule to this point has been terrible.  Their opponents win % is .459 (Penn St is at .630). And Penn St and Bama have very similar average margin of victories (33.4 vs 28.9).

So if you are looking at games played to this point, Penn St deserves to be above Bama because they have much better wins.

    4. ActualCornHusker

      ActualCornHusker

Agreed. But it will all play out. Let's just hope LSU beats Bama, and for good measure, hopefully Auburn beats Bama as well...

  13. What is the Lamar Jackson (QB version) story again? We had a decent shot of flipping him from Louisville, but then Bo got canned?

Visited here for that Miami game... was so impressed he said he'd vote Ameer for Heisman if he could. Then we kinda just cooled on him.

    3. Mavric

      Mavric

I don't know if we cooled on him or he on us.  The story I've heard since then was he was interested but we weren't at the top of his list.

I thought the crystal ball pick was saying Nebraska for him and then signing day came and, well, he went another way. We've always heard about these 'Silent Commits" that are going to sign when the day comes up but who are unwilling to do a verbal ahead of time. Had he been one of those guys, it would have changed Husker history. I really think Bo would still be here today. But he didn't come here. Bo wasn't able to get that one super star difference maker. He got more and more frustrated and... eventually, we know what happened.

Taggert pulled in a great recruiting class last year (Rivals #18) and was working on an even better class this year (#15).  Firing him now was a stupid, wasteful thing to do.  I hope they really s#!t the bed with their next hire.

Not surprised at all, they wanted him to be the fall guy.  Should have given him another year.

I could really go off on how absolutely stupid these gender reveals, couples engagement showers, etc. have become. It's just people wanting to feel more important than they are and one upping others on social media. It's stupid, please stop. But the thing that gets me in this story is that some writer chose to say they "inadvertently" detonated a pipe bomb.  They may have inadvertently killed Nana but I'm quite sure they fully intended to set off the bomb they obviously built for the event. I'd call it a Darwin moment but I'm guessing it didn't kill the correct person(s).

Glad to see no OU in playoff.  Their defense is not playoff caliber and they’d get blown out against other top teams.  That offense is flashy and covers a lot for stinky defense. #Exposed.

  18. Since adds aren’t going away, is it possible to at least do away with the video adds on mobile?  It’s distracting as F.

    1. Moiraine

      Moiraine

It makes me wonder just how terrible his back up is at blocking.

    2. ZRod

      ZRod

Meh, his blocking has gotten a lot better. He did a decent job against OSU last week from what I remember. The snaps though, it's not that hard to get right. I think he's just trying to get it back there too fast. It's more a finesse movement than a power movement. The speed comes from being smooth.

I'm surprised we haven't tried dead ball snaps yet.

My favorite...when travel teams from Omaha travel to KC and end up playing 4 teams from Omaha!  Hahaha

    3. Red Five

      Red Five

@krc1995 “travel” meaning that we play other twin city metro area suburbs/schools.  The team is made up of kids in our school district.  It’s about a tournament every other weekend from November through February.  It’s not AAU or anything where we are going to Chicago or someplace.

Trust me, I don’t have dreams of the kid being the next Larry Bird, and his chances of ever playing varsity is slim being that our school has about 900/grade.

But he is a good athlete and enjoys the challenge of playing against good competition.  He told me many times last year when we were winning games by 40 points in our house league that it “wasn’t much fun”.

      HuskerForTrump2020

I would consider it a blessing he has this opportunity to be one that isn't picked and the fact that it upset him would bring me even more joy.  You have the makings of a winner in the best sense.

  23. A horse bleep performance 17 games in. Do better coaches.

I was 17 in ‘96 and still remember things around that game like it yesterday.  I remember what friends house I watched it at and who I was sitting next to.  It was the most surreal thing seeing us be incompetent like that after the past 3 years.

Trust me, I didn’t want to be reminded. But it popped up on Twitter feed as a “this day in college football history” or something.  So I figured I’d share my misery with everyone else.
