Unless Vedral gets a release from UCF *and* wins NCAA approval, he's not going to count against our limit until next year, right? Or what am I missing here...?

    3. Cdog923

      Cdog923

I believe @VectorVictor is correct; he'll be a walk-on this year, and will count against the limit next year.

    4. ScottyIce

      ScottyIce

UCF won't release him to us. So therefore they can hold onto the scholarship for as long as they want (would be dumb because then they only get 84).... Unless I'm missing something.

  2. Anyone else mad that our football team could probably beat our baseball team in baseball?

@VectorVictor you just stumbled across the best idea ever to get around the NCAA practice rules. Replacing the whole baseball team with the football team would open up all kinds of extra eligible practice time, spend it on football oriented practices and still have the same baseball results. Nobody loses and football benefits. Uh yeah, I'm pretty serious.

@Comfortably Numb so sacrifice the remainder of the baseball season to help the Football team?

Not mad about the football team.  But I'm mad that our women's bowling team could give our baseball team a run for it's money.  lulz

Oh totally...but the thing is in some markets the basketball players are basically freak show gods and a lot of the seasons are short so they can come back to the US and run some camps and get paid here too.

Good players can earn up to $100,000 a year in Europe. D-league contracts usually hover around the $20,000 range. College players earn ???

I wouldn't fault them for leaving, is what I'm trying to say.

My son's basketball coach this past season played in Europe for around 10 years.  I guess he was a decent player at CSU, and then make a good living bouncing around Europe.  Now, he's in his mid 30s, back in the U.S. and is a realtor.

Hey, that is pretty fortunate to get to a better program then us after his tenure here.  My guess is that being an analyst rather then an actual position coach is the catch.

      RedDenver

Why? Was the original date conflicting with another big movie?

    2. Cdog923

      Cdog923

There's no conflict; I'm assuming they moved it up for a global release; it was already being released the 27th in Europe. This way, they can both market it that way, and help avoid spoilers for Americans for a week.

    3. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

What CDog said. And it sounds as though there will be significant spoilers in Avengers 3: The Avengening (e.g. Kree/Skrull War--characters not who they actually said they were the whole time, characters dying, the location of the Soul Stone (I'm wagering it's on or part of the yellowish planet we've seen in the trailers).

Good move by DisMarvel--not sure why they even bothered with different release dates in the past, unless it's a logistics thing.

I think that run in with the ref and leaving the field (even though he wasn't ejected) probably has something to do with this. KC just picked up a good CB in the Smith trade. I would also assume he was going to be pretty expensive to resign.

@Red Five That's kind of where I am at: if this is the tip of the iceberg, then it's a huge development.

If this is it? Not a very big deal to me.

This is the FBI looking into this, not the NCAA, and they've already got one songbird. This is definitely just the tip of the iceberg.

Weird. The only thing I got was about a week ago an email that said I should remember that Spring Game tickets go on sale for season ticket holders on 02/06 at 10am.  I couldn't reserve Spring Game tickets at that time, I could only buy them when they went on sale on 02/06.

@Comfortably Numb I figured as much...but the rebounding was atrocious all game long. That's the sort of thing that will kill our momentum and have us losing games we should be winning down the stretch.
