Quincy Enunwa gets $20 million guaranteed from the Jets. That’s awesome for him!!!

I drove across Nebraska twice from this past Friday to Sunday. I noticed that Wisconsin drivers are the worst offenders of staying in the left lane of the interstate. So many of those cars I encountered on my travels had Wisconsin license plates.

@RedDenver I find that Colorado drivers tend to have as big as a problem of driving in the left lane as Nebraska drivers do.

Shatel has a good article today about how Riley wasn’t recruiting Nick Henrich from Burke very hard, and Eichorst alienated Henrich’s parents. My brother also told me that when Bryson Williams from LSE visited NU, Riley asked Bryson how his flight was. Riley and Eichorst were the biggest jokes ever.

@TonyStalloniRight on. Ive said it for awhile now. Perlman was poison for athletics. You can have both great athletics and academics but some want to fight one way or the other for some reason. Mr. Burns, i mean Perlman, set our athletics back his whole tenure. Chancellor Green is getting things back on track but has a big mess to clean up from Perlman.

Not a Bama fan, but I would feel really happy for Hurts if he were able to lead Bama back in this game.

Bubba Starling released by the KC Royals today. I'm sure he will latch on to another team, and I hope he has a good chunk of that signing bonus left.

Noah Fant declares for the NFL Draft.

Good for him. He is the 2nd best TE on that team though and that is not a knock on Fant but a compliment to the other guy. Hockenson is the complete package. Noah will have to get better at blocking or go somewhere they use him like Jimmy Graham. Iowa will still be loaded at TE next year if Hock stays, but losing Fant does take away an explosive option on the perimeter.

Guy Thomas officially transferring. Not a big surprise.

@Minnesota_husker is here all week!

Mike McIntyre out at CU after this season. That game may have gotten easier for NU next season.
-
Flying into Omaha today, what is with the crap weather that I am coming into?

Mike Leach is a national treasure.

@Minnesota_husker I skimmed thru that article about Leach vs. Texas in '99. It was great.
-
Pick 6 for Prince. Good to see him sticking around the NFL for so long.
-
At least Wisconsin lost today, too.

Is Jeff Brohm going to be this generation’s Mike Riley? Takes over a traditionally losing program. Known as a smart offensive guy. His teams consistently find ways to lose games. They should have beaten Northwestern last week, and about about to blow one to EMU today.
-
Shocker that Northwestern can’t win a game when the other team doesn’t have any turnovers/mistakes. When will people get off Fitzgerald’s jock?
-
Unpopular Opinion Alert - Rob Zatechka was on The Bottom Line with Mike'l Severe and he said that he and many former players haven't been happy that the "Husker Prayer" was made public. Zatechka said that he's happy the fans have embraced it, but he also said that he wishes it would have stayed internal as a "players only" thing.

Brett Maher is going to be the starting place kicker for the Dallas Cowboys. They cut Dan Bailey. Maher was great at NU, but I never expected he would be in the NFL and Henery wouldn’t.
-
CSU’s defense sucks, but CU is moving the ball at will so far in Denver. Could have a high scoring affair next week against Colorado.
-
Average Big Ten teams keep giving Northwestern wins in the turnover game.
-
@Judoka you are exactly right. I guess I give them credit for playing smart, but the media acts like they are a great program. Are they way better than what they used to be, yes. But I don't know how "good" they actually are. Plus, NW's 10-win seasons in 2015 and 2017 were helped by competing against 2 of the worst Nebraska teams in the past 50 years.
-
Sounds like Maurice Washington is the real deal. Media, coaches, and players have been saying he's stood out in practice. It's huge that he's eligible this year.
-
Pretty good interview with the guy behind Tunnel Walk of Shame. He gets into why he didn't write many comics when Riley was at the helm. He expects to write a few comics a season for Frost. https://soundcloud.com/1400-klin/jack-and-friends-podcast-episode-2-tunnel-walk-of-shame

SCOTUS strikes down federal law against sports gambling in the U.S. Get ready to place your bets!!!

As long as P.Ricketts is sullying the halls of the Governor's mansion, it won't happen in Nebraska unless his family gets a taste, legal or otherwise. And this Yahoo article does suggest that 35 states are poised to allow sports gambling within the next five years based on this ruling, so hopefully Nebraska is one of the 35?
If Nebraska isn't, I'll be sure to host a 'Husker betting party for folks at the beginning of each football season down here in Texass--after all, the only thing they love down here more than moral extremism is pure, unadulterated hypocrisy.
-
I doubt Nebraska is one of those 35, but I can imagine, those border states (Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, SD) are on that list, and once again Nebraska will be losing out on a large revenue stream to border states. On the bright side, Nebraskans can have the 'good life' with higher taxes...YAY us!

Just realized I was still following Mike Riley on Twitter. That resulted in a quick unfollow.
-
POB not at practice today per Coach Verduzco.
-
The guys from SpreadFootball.com have a podcast that is slightly focused on the mid-90s Nebraska offense, and how it was ahead of it's time. I haven't listened to it yet, but I plan to this afternoon. http://ronmckiefootball.com/tfp44/

The what you will learn in this episode is very interesting:
Why running the QB is a game changer
How the QB counter is a deadly play
Why Nebraska was ahead of its time
How the defense hates playing against teams that have a running quarterback
Funny how defenders of Callahan and Riley still liked the statue QBs.
