  1. What a time to be an Iowa Hawkeye fan. Your team is doing what it does best, wallowing somewhere in the below mediocre to above average range just like you like it. Kirk Ferentz is going to have his head put on a monkey body when he passes so that he can continue being your coach. And Nebraska, who you claim isn't your rival, is wallowing in an 0-5 start to the Scott Frost era. So inevitably, since we aren't even a blip on your radar and because we aren't relevant, you guys spend your time trolling us like so: What a rib that was, got us good you guys! Then today I saw this gem: Okay okay, guess we deserved that for merely being your state neighbors and for having a real football tradition even though you're only claim to a national championship dates back to the 50's but we are the ones living in the past. So live it up Squakeye faithful, as coach Frost said in the offseason you better beat us now while you still can. Once this thing gets rolling, the only way you get a sniff of a Big Ten West title will be if we break wind in your general direction.

  2. Only thing I can say is...out of all those hypotheticals, I can assure you I'll be completely jacked up for 2019 anyway.

  4. Iowa should know a thing or two about missing a bowl. Heck, Ferentz himself has already accomplished this feat four times at Iowa.

  6. Ranked, with a hypothetical 7-6 record? No. We're not in the SEC.

  7. Iowa was mentioned and Landlord was in here quicker than our offensive line could get flagged for holding again.

  8. Hawkeye fans deny that Nebraska is a rival? I thought it was the other way around. It is "cool" nowadays to deny rivalries, but rivalries are what makes college football. I love our rivalries, including a young one with Nebraska. Too bad the powers that be had to create a BS trophy for the Iowa/Nebraska game. You bet we're having a good time. Your program is currently in the dumpster. 3 months ago, you guys were predicting a Big Ten title game appearance, and now you're 0-5. Meanwhile, Iowa is ranked 12th in Sagarin, 19th in ESPN FPI, and generally in the teens. Too bad we farted away the Wisky game. Frost will have you competitive soon enough, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

  10. Tell you what. How about one of you eye-rollers actually walk me through how Trump got us to this better place (be prepared to show your homework on both the NAFTA and Iran deals) and remind me how you wouldn't have gone ballistic if Barack Obama had started a love affair with Kim Jong-Un.

  11. Holy f#&%. Do you really need to be held by the hand and walked through the last 35 years of the domestic economy and international order to understand that you are giving Donald Trump an almost comical amount of credit for things he hasn't done? His con job is so lazy and transparent and narcissistic that no legitimate college professor should fall for it. Poke the Democrats for their missteps and hypocrisy? Sure. But swallow Donald Trump's talking points whole? Come on, dude.

  15. Wikipedia sums it up nicely: "Many believe that the Iowa Hawkeyes rightfully hold the 1958 National Championship.[15] Significantly more people believe Iowa's fictitious claim to the 1958 National Championship is a sham." LSU was undefeated, Iowa was not. Not the strongest claim out there.

  28. Your mind was made up less than 2 quarters into his first game. Kind of waters down anything you say afterwards as highly self serving bias. Bankers first five games as DC we allowed 24 points per game. Through five this season we giving up 39 points per game. One of those number sure looks far superior to me.

  33. Probably will never win a game again, like ever. Yeah, this is crazy to say, but it would be really, really fun to be playing Iowa at the end of the year with a chance at Bowl eligility... Don't shoot the messenger.

  35. I have heard Democratic Presidential candidates say over and over that Republicans want tax cuts for the rich and are not concerned about the poorest Americans....I have heard some of these same candidates who say Republicans lack compassion when it comes to DACA or illegals. The 2016 Democratic Presidential candidate....which really speaks for the party's platform, listed the basket of deplorables which included references to those agreeing with Trump or the GOP agenda as racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, etc... Are you saying that Democratic politicians have not said any of what I just shared?

  36. We do need to vilify it when it can set us back. “With great power” etc. There is real harm that can be done by a Black person saying slavery was a choice, imo. It perpetuates the idea that Blacks are lazy. Having it said by a Black man is far worse because it’s held up as an example that “even they think it’s true, see.” It’s somewhat similar to the potential harm that could come if holocaust deniers increase in number except it isn’t Jews saying it. It reminds me of women saying they aren’t feminists and that feminism is wrong and that women should be happy with what they have. That does harm in my opinion, and it would be worse if it came from a famous woman. I constantly see men who are sexist using this to argue their sexist viewpoints. “This woman I know said it was okay so it is obviously okay” and they think it ends the discussion and they’ve won. Nothing else matters except that 1 woman defended their viewpoint about women. With Kanye it’s even worse because he is famous. He has the right to support Trump and say everything he’s said, but I see no reason people should hold back when he says things like the slavery comment

  37. Sorry, that was poorly-worded by me. I was trying to say the one game against Wisconsin *each year* really made the stats for that year look much worse. Wisconsin had figured out how to formation and motion us into a bad alignment and take advantage of it. And we were apparently too stubborn to change. But the rest of the time, we weren't all that bad. 2012 was they year they figured us out. In the first game - like you said - we were very good against them. But they figured something out before the CCG and never looked back. In 2012, we were #96 in the country in yards allowed per rush at 4.76. But if you take out the Wisconsin CCG game, it would drop to 4.17 ypc which would have been #65. In 2013, we were #32 in the country at 3.78. We didn't play Wisconsin that year. In 2014, we were #91 in the country at 4.74. Minus Wisconsin we would have been 3.80 which would have been #33. So one year we would have been 31 spots better minus the Wisconsin game. The other two years we were a Top 35 rushing defense (ypc) other than when we played Wisconsin. Not great but definitely serviceable for a defense that was designed to stop the pass first and prevent the big play.

  40. You're just not looking. Obama Condemns 'Criminal' Ferguson Violence "There are productive ways of responding... and there are destructive ways of responding... those are criminal acts. People should be prosecuted if they engage in criminal acts." Obama Condemns 'Vicious, Calculated and Despicable' Dallas Shootings “We are horrified over these events and we stand united with the people and the police department in Dallas,” he continued. The U.S. police have “an extraordinarily difficult job,” ge said, and “today is a wrenching reminder of the sacrifices they make for us.” Obama: 'Nothing justifies violence against law enforcement' "President Obama said the fatal shootings of three Louisiana police were "the work of cowards who speak for no one," telling reporters late Sunday afternoon, "Nothing justifies violence against law enforcement.” He added, "My fellow Americans, only we can prove, through words and through deeds, that we will not be divided, and we’re going to have to keep doing it again and again and again. That’s how this country gets united. That’s how we bring people of good will together." In the statement, Obama condemned the attacks "in the strongest sense of the word. These are attacks on public servants, on the rule of law, and on civilized society, and they have to stop," Obama said." Obama condemns violence at Trump rally "We saw in San Jose these protesters starting to pelt stuff [at] Trump supporters. That's not what our democracy is about," Obama said. "That's not what you do. There's no room for violence. There's no place for shouting. There's no room for a politics that fails to at least listen to the other side — even if you vehemently disagree. Because I believe if you've got the better argument, then you don't need to do that. Just go out there and organize and persuade." Black Lives Matter condemns Dallas, pushes forward with protests '"Black activists have raised the call for an end to violence, not an escalation of it. Yesterday's attack was the result of the actions of a lone gunman. To assign the actions of one person to an entire movement is dangerous and irresponsible. We continue our efforts to bring about a better world for all of us," BLM wrote.' ‘Shooting police is not a civil rights tactic’: Activists condemn killing of officers “There are more questions right now than answers,” Mckesson said of the shooting in Baton Rouge. “The movement began as a response to violence, it was a call to end violence, and that call to end violence was true two years ago, was true 10 days ago, and is true today. Our call has been a call for justice, a living breathing justice,” he said. “A just world is a world where people don’t experience the trauma in the first place.” “We all denounce the killing of police officers,” Al Sharpton said. “We don’t want to see this movement, which began with the killing of Eric Garner, smeared as an anti-police movement. We certainly don’t condone violence.” Black Lives Matter Leader Condemns Violence at St. Paul Protest Rashad Turner, who leads Black Lives Matter in St. Paul, tells TIME that he blames much of the violence on people who he says weren’t from the area. “There were people outside of the community I didn’t recognize,” he says. “They were doing stupid stuff, and it’s something we don’t tolerate.” Pelosi condemns ‘violent actions’ of antifa protesters “Our democracy has no room for inciting violence or endangering the public, no matter the ideology of those who commit such acts,” Pelosi said in a statement released late Tuesday. “The violent actions of people calling themselves antifa in Berkeley this weekend deserve unequivocal condemnation, and the perpetrators should be arrested and prosecuted.” Bernie Sanders Condemns Threats Against Ann Coulter Speech At Berkeley “To me, it’s a sign of intellectual weakness,” he said. “If you can’t ask Ann Coulter in a polite way questions which expose the weakness of her arguments, if all you can do is boo, or shut her down, or prevent her from coming, what does that tell the world?” “What are you afraid of ― her ideas? Ask her the hard questions,” he concluded. “Confront her intellectually. Booing people down, or intimidating people, or shutting down events, I don’t think that that works in any way.” Clinton condemns attacks on Trump supporters “I condemn all violence in our political arena,” Clinton told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview broadcast Friday. “I condemned it when Donald Trump was inciting it and congratulating people who were engaging in it. I condemn it by those who are taking violent protests to physical assault against Donald Trump.” Clinton said the violence has to end but accused the real estate mogul of setting “a very bad example.” Trump has called his rallies “lovefests,” though he has also encouraged his supporters to “knock the crap out of” anyone they see carrying tomatoes and offered to pay the legal fees of supporters who are charged with violence at his rallies.
