"Is Nebraska following up hiring the most sought after CFB coach by potentially hiring the biggest name CBB coach this cycle secretly a bad move by the Athletic Department? Subscribe Now!" -OWH Probably6 points

If you are a Husker fan all you need to worry about, if this is true, is all 10 pints of your blood rushing to your dong at one time. Don't worry about the NIT or dividing a locker or anything like that...just your dong.6 points

Moos can have all the damn c$%ktails he wants after Scott Frost then Fred Hoiburg.6 points

This hire is such a homerun that it is hard to even understand. 1. He coaches a fast fun entertaining type of offense 2. He doesn't really give a f#&% about defense but really who care as long as you score more points 3. Sure he hates recruiting but I am guessing 95% of coaches hate it, it doesn't mean he wasn't decent at it. 4. I am jealous of this hire, as an Illini fan, this makes me jealous.4 points

I'm not, but I'm also not too concerned with what the kids think of their coach being replaced as a result of being in the consolation bracket. Hey, I hope they win the whole damn thing! And the run in the B1G tournament was a blast.... I agree that Miles couldn't of handled this any better. I am a big fan of Miles, the person.3 points

This is a bigger hire than Frost. Everyone knew in the end Frost was the only one that the Skers wanted and I think most of us knew Moos would get him in the end. I bet most Husker fans did not think getting Fred would happen...but man this is huge.3 points

As usual, the only 2 conclusions that can be drawn are that Trump is dumber than a doorknob to have unknowingly surrounded himself with people doing foreign adversaries’ bidding and other s#!tty things, or he knew what they were up to. Either way, he should be nowhere near the presidency.3 points

If people don't think Hoiberg is the best guy we could get then you are delusional....3 points

In 2012-13 Iowa State had the #2 scoring offense in the country (Iona was #1). In 2013-14 they were #5. In 2014-15 they were #12. Only in 2014-15 were there any Power 5 schools ahead of them and they were still #3 among that group.3 points

During all of this coaching change, you always have to be interested/concerned about recruiting. I like the guys Miles has coming in....even though we still need one or two big guys. I think Hoiburg is the type of hire that can keep those guys excited about coming to Nebraska and hopefully go out and get some big guys.3 points

Dirk is very frustrating as a writer. He has the ability to put out the most in depth and best researched articles about Nebraska sports of anyone. But then he does things like this that just seem like he’s trying to create contravercy where there isn’t any.3 points

you do know that your info on uranium 1 is false...right?....right? russia didn't get 25% of our uranium...they got mines that could potentially produce 25% of our production if they were actually restarted again. and if they actually do start mining uranium from them....it is illegal to export uranium mined here out of the country. if they mine it they have to sell it to the US government. how does that give russia 25% of our uranium? unless donnie is letting them break U.S. law and export it to russia?2 points

This raid has absolutely nothing to do about any Trump business. Sounds like they are going after this guys just because he is associated with Trump. They really need to go after the Podesta brothers who were knee deep in the weeds with Manafort not to mention Hillary and the illegal deeds of the Uranium One deal of selling 25% of OUR Uranium to RUSSIA. I wonder how much the Clinton Foundation (SLUSH FUND) profited from that deal! Now there is your Russian Connection along with the unverified Dossier that she paid for that Christopher Steel was giving to the FBI to get a FISA warrant that's going to be putting a bunch of people in jail soon. Soon the liberals will be putting their heads in the sand and Trump Derangement Syndrome will be up in full force!2 points

If the Hoiberg hire is true, it's a massive step in the right direction for the basketball program. Proof that the program is being taken seriously by the administration. I still believe, when you consider the facilities and fan base, Nebraska basketball is a sleeping giant in college basketball.2 points

I too get frustrated when people think that all writers/media members are the same and have the same job responsibilities. In Nebraska print media, guys like Shatel, Sipple, and Chatelain are opinion guys. Their job is to write opinion articles or like Chatelain, do deep-dive stories, but not give wrote, factual data. The "beat" writers are McKewon, Heady, and Bland for OWH and Parker Gabriel and some other guy for LJS (after Brian Christopherson) left about a year ago. The beat writers are the guys who are supposed to give the factual data about the team, coaches, and players.2 points

Editorialism is opinionated or persuasive writing, and columnists usually write persuasive commentaries or op-eds. These are core industry concepts. Google them if you don't believe me. If you want to criticize his opinions, have at it, because that's his job to be opinionated. But, there's a difference between this Dirk article (which is more of a commentary) vs. what reporters write (which are news articles). You're criticizing him for being opinionated when that's literally part of his job.2 points

I’ve posted these numbers before, but it’s telling how much they’ve benefited from schedule since Nebraska joined in 2011. Below are number of games against the Top 4 East schools since 2011. Record against in parenthesis. PSU 5 (1-4) Last win in 2011. 1 CCG meeting. MSU 4 (2-2) One meeting since 2012. 1 CCG meeting. OSU 6 (0-6) 2 CCG meeting MICH 3 (1-2). Didn’t play from 2010-2016. Total - 18 games (4-14). 14 Regular Season Games. For comparison, here is Nebraska. PSU 4 (3-1) MSU 6 (4-2) OSU 5 (1-4) MICH 4 (2-2) Total - 19 games (10-9), 19 Regular Season Games Wisconsin does play against 3 such opponents this year before returning to only Michigan in 2020. Wisconsin has been a division bully, and props to them for an outstanding division record, but they’ve struggled against the better teams in the East, and they don’t even bother OOC. As this financial windfall has kicked in allowing the division access to better coaches, support staff, facilities and the like, it raises the competitive level. This has to be seen as a concern for Wisconsin.2 points

Forgive my bluntness, as I'm not trying to be rude, but I don't think you're understanding why I pointed this all out. Dirk is a columnist, which is not the same thing as a reporter. It may seem like semantics but it's not. It's his job to be opinionated. I don't have a problem disagreeing with his opinions - that's fair game. But, you can't use editorialism as an indictment against journalism in this way. Dirk's job is to write persuasive pieces based on fact.2 points

I was born in the 60s. I can attest, the potty training was very stressful.1 point

If a millennial says life is more stressful now than ever, I don't put much stock in that. They lack the perspective of understanding the good times and bad times of other eras. And that list of stressors is mostly ridiculous. Today's socio/political climate is crazy, yet kids are more stressed about all this trivial nonsense. Not all the millennials' fault, though. The generation that raised today's millennials did a poor job of equipping these kids to deal with real problems on their own. The pendulum swings.1 point

I think that's how it usually works, but with social media these days things spread like wildfire. Moos has also always said he will let coaches play out the season in full, doesn't like to fire ppl with games left, even though they technically are gone.1 point

I finally saw Infinity War this weekend and your overall view of the movie is pretty close to mine, I think. I wasn't necessarily disinterested after 10 minutes, but I walked away thinking it was all just a little too much. Too much story, too much convenience. It's like Landlord said - their greatest strength is their greatest weakness, and that's the abundance of content available in their playground. Some elements of it were really, really good, but I never felt a strong sense of congruency with all of the moving pieces. But, that's the direction they've taken the series, and the only way they're going to maintain overall fan interest is to keep increasing the stakes and the flashiness. I'm mostly there, too. I've liked several of the Marvel movies. Many of them have been great but, similar to what I said in relation to Ulty, they just all keep going to sort of outrageous heights. It's a side effect of how much content they've produced and the need to satisfy a pretty robust fan base. I don't really fault them for it but, at the same time, I can't really get into it that deeply either.1 point

But he has a long track record of being a d bag when it comes to the big red, no matter the sport.1 point

This is a general comment, because it isn’t just you, but I don’t understand why people get attached to certain players before they ever do anything on the college level. Maybe he just sucks at this level. Or maybe he’s gonna be really good this year. But he hasn’t done anything, so I don’t get why quite a few people ask about him. At least with the kbb candyman guy Taylor was from his high school.1 point
