I agree that we often take our historically privileged position for granted. Maybe we're even spoiled. Horribly spoiled. But please. Her anecdotal observations in a coffee shop where she is admittedly scrapping for something to write about, is the definition of shallow, and the moment she hangs this on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she exposes her one-note agenda. I'm 59, and I'm genuinely sorry for the s#!t my generation has laid at the feet of Millennials. Income inequity is most definitely a thing. The next generation will be spending a third or more of their income on healthcare --- that's a different America and it's insane. They will likely make less money and die younger than their parents, the first generation in modern times to regress. America is tumbling down the first world standings on any number of things, mostly troublingly in how we educate and treat our children. The same children who are at a statistically higher risk of being killed by gunfire than active U.S. service members. That's neither good, nor normal. The definition of "prosperity" has also shifted dramatically, and that's where the 1% vs 99% thing comes in. Her publishers at Alpha News court working and middle class Americans to feel sorry for the real victims of class warfare --- the billionaires. Again: insane. We also f#&%ed up the Earth pretty bad, but by her reasoning if you can afford a latte and a cell phone you have no room to complain. And if you really want to dig into this, her "universal truths" about America's greatness are not necessarily universal or truthful. Interestingly enough, it was Donald Trump who ran on the platform "The American Dream is Dead!" Look it up, coffee shop girl.

This is the dumbest kind of conservative propaganda, but the kind grandma and grandpa eat up and forward on because it's all "Rah! Rah! 'MERICA!" and stuff. Because America is more prosperous than poverty-stricken countries, no one in America can be downtrodden? Because some impoverished countries have small income inequality, Americans can't be adversely affected by income inequality, or income inequality isn't a problem? Because some socialist countries have had tyranny and suffering, it will always lead to that, while (the implication is) capitalism won't? Sweden and Iceland say hello from the world of socialism. Greece and Portugal say hello from the world of capitalism. These kinds of absolute statements are stupid. But, consider the source:

It honestly reads as someone who can't or won't tolerate any critique of capitalism whatsoever. We can only consider the good aspects of capitalism and the bad aspects of socialism. The free market itself, left alone, will forgive all sins and provide all that we need. Pieces like this are meant to head off any legitimate criticism of American capitalism, because the flaws and imperfections are becoming more and more apparent.

Negative and just flat out wrong. No elected politician is attempting to "Destroy the free market" like she says. I was in a border state this week for work, and had a cab driver from PR. I asked him how he feels about his island getting the right to vote. To say I was shocked at his response is an understatement. He immediately said, "No. We contribute nothing to the US why should we have the opportunity to vote?" Then he went on to spout the Fox News/Trump diatribe. "The news isnt' telling the truth. PR is taking US dollars and not using them for helping rebuild. There are people that can work that don't and they take welfare support .... etc" I had to really check myself, and so I didn't ask any more questions. But I can just not fathom how people that are directly impacted by this administration's policies and disgusting comments can fall in line. I have a business colleague who's parents are middle eastern immigrants and they voted for and continue to support Trump. What the heck kind of world is this now?

We beat Iowa this year. Book it. It's the 375th Sellout. Nebraska has won all but one sellout milestone game since 1962. The only blemish on that record was Colorado in 1990 - the year they won their national championship. Iowa is not a national-championship caliber football team, and while Nebraska may not be top-ten material like we were in 1990, the Football Gods won't allow anything other than a great team to mar this milestone. This game's a win, it's over, write it down, end of story.

After 7 years of undisciplined play and sometimes players afraid to be out of position, then three years of rainbows and sprinkles and players not being invested, I think the culture change will show that the Huskers are better across the board and we won't be talking about Northwestern getting lucky...we should've won last year FFS I do think Pat F is a good coach and LOVE it when we come out on top

I think the main thing with this is that Frost now has his three guys he can keep fresh. On top of that, he can put Wandale and M. Jones to get some carries as well. This is assuming that MoWa is good to go which who knows what will happen with him. Having fresh legs allows your running backs to be able to sustain hits and get adequate rest for the season. It also allows an opportunity for the hot hand to get more carries depending on who has it during the game. Being able to find those mismatches on LB'ers with our Robinson, Jones, Washington and potentially Johnson will put lots of stress on the defense. Not being able to substitute either is something we need to see more of this year as teams won't be able to adjust their personnel. We may not have Stan or Ozigbo back this year, but we should have more weapons on the field with more depth this year. For as good as our rushing numbers were last year, I think they will be better in 2019. One of the other big questions is the interior O-line. Will we be better there or worse inside this year replacing some seniors? That could be a factor in how good our rushing numbers will be in 2019.

Just think of it as posting and you are hoping for more +1's, trophies, haha-faces and smiley-faces and less frowny faces. Only...it is real life and clearly your advancement at your work depends on it...so you know...exactly the same level of importance.

As a Gen-Xer, my grandma lived through all of that. But she didn't work her a$$ off on a farm with no A/C and raise four kids so she could pull the ladder up behind her when she got somewhere and achieved something through her hard work. I don't know why the generation she raised did that. It wasn't through direct efforts on the part of the Greatest Generation. Maybe it was benevolent ignorance. But the kids that generation raised - the Boomers - should be better than they are. Instead a ton of them are gullible ignoramuses that too easily blame the children they raised for the troubles they caused. All I know is, I have no beef with Millennials. I like avocado toast. And I'm raising the next generation to be ready to work their a$$ off more than their grandparents, more than me, more than Millennials. Because they're going to have to if they're going to raise grandkids of their own.

I had a question about that. I haven't sat in south since I was a student, but Moos is talking about renovations to it as if crowd control is an issue. I don't really remember it being one. But, I have sat in north a few times in the last 10 years, and it's abysmal trying to get out of there. I would've thought north would be more of a priority, but perhaps that will be part of the expected facilities upgrades in north? Or maybe south really is bad, too?

Without knowing how well Rahmir will be as a receiving threat, I’d strongly disagree. Robinson and Washington amplify each other because they both can run routes you simply don’t see out of the backfield, and they can do it out of two back. Together they require teams to either substitute LBs or play mostly zone. Given we play in a LB dominant division, that’s a big deal. This offense with all of the screens, floods, and quads is extremely difficult to zone. That’s why if we can put more threats on the field, even if none are as good as Stan, we’ll be far more dangerous. Teams could play a lot of man last year.

There are so many Nebraska Fans right in my own neighborhood that we have watching parties. When the Husker play here in Minnesota, they sell the stadium out and we have a sea of red in the maroon and gold. My neighbors son is a senior in high school this year and he and his best friend have chosen to go to school in Lincoln at the University of Nebraska. We blood red here. Doesn't hurt that his dad was premed at NU, did his residency in Omaha at the University of Nebraska Med Center and was a boyhood friend of Charlie McBride's son!
