He seems like a great guy and will be the first African American commisioner of a Power 5 conference. Since he is a football guy let's hope he can help bring in more talent and positive coverage for all BIG football teams including the Huskers. Just adding some new links and tweets. The charges might not amount to much, legally, but at this point you have to at least consider Washington unreliable because his decisonmaking is suspect. We need to have somebody ready to step up as the new #1, at the start of the season or at any time Washington is here.

As an ex-narcotics agent, less than one ounce of marijuana is an infraction in Nebraska. That is equal to a parking ticket. It isn’t even a misdemeanor. IMO, Frost should kick people off the team for parking tickets if he is going to do it for marijuana use. He could be afraid of the stigma it would put on his program if he doesn’t. If he kicks him off the team “to prepare the players for the NFL’s rules” , I wouldn’t agree with that because the NFL will allow marijuana use after the next union contract is negotiated. If he kicks him off because no drug use is a team rule, then I am all for it. Be a part of the team and a leader. Just depends on how Frost spins this one on whether most people will agree or not agree with the punishment.

Thanks. So if he is cleared from his issues in California, the only legal strike against him is a minor drug citation. That's not worthy of being kicked off the team, in my opinion. This violation isn't nearly as bad as stealing bikes or getting a DUI (which a coach was able to keep his job).

Why are people so quick to think that Mo will be kicked off the team? I am not saying he won't be, but it's a relatively minor citation. Yes, it's on top of his current legal situation, and not a smart look for Mo, but do we know if Frost has a hard stance against pot?

I agree. I dont know what the actual number is we should spend. But I think we should pay to play with the big boys. We have the College World Series in our back yard. I think its crazy to not pay for the right guy to get you there a couple times a decade.

The law isn't ridiculous. IMO, cases like this weren't the intent of the law (he sent the video to her, not to other people), but the law should exist. Revenge porn can do a lot of damage to a person and there should be serious consequences for it.

It's true that there's a humanitarian crisis right now at the U.S. border, not unlike other countries faced with an influx of refugees and no good alternatives. It's not quite the same as ongoing immigration policy. One of the problems is Americans who can look at desperate mothers and children and see only Democrat voters.

I know people are balking at mentions of Will Bolt, with the primary concern being that we shouldn't only be going after people with Husker ties. Bolt is a pretty qualified coach. Here's a bit of his resume from the Texas A&M website:

To be fair, mistakes made in your past can and often will be held against you in the present. How many celebrities and politicians do we have to look at for this evidence? Frost would be well within his right to issue some of kind team-related punishment. At the very least, he brought negative publicity to the program and his teammates, along with a slew of other logistical and PR headaches. But, neither of them were facing a felony and misdemeanor charge for a separate crime. I think we have to be cognizant and realistic about what the law currently says about marijuana in Nebraska, and MW violated that law. Add this into the California case and it's just a big a$$ face palm. Personally, I don't care if people smoke weed recreationally, but this is a pretty dumb move on MW's part. IMO he has to be better than that given his whole situation.

If Frost found out a player did something awful before joining the team, it would be perfectly reasonable at that point to kick him off the team because he found out the player wasn't who he thought he was. You could argue the player misrepresented himself or lied by omission.

I live in a border state and have my entire life and nothing about this is true. RedDenver summed it up perfectly. Why don't you just be honest about the real reason you think their is a immigration crisis.

Of course I don't think that. Did he need to carry things with him? Couldn't he smoke at home for a few years until he isn't playing football anymore? You aren't seeing the forest for the trees. He is under investigation and he chose to continue behaviors that could make the situation worse. That shows a me first attitude and goes against the team culture being created. He didn't learn anything. If Frost wants culture change and to create accountability, here's an opportunity to drive it home.

Hate to see him go, but with both safety spots potentially tied up this year and next imo, along with the safety haul we got, I'm not too worried. Thought he'd be a good player for us though, but wish him all the best in his future. Keep recruiting.

It is not race specific, although black players made up a large portion of it. Now just to throw it out there, I am a person of color myself, and see it all throughout my own community. I had to deal with Polynesian, Mexican, White, and Mixed kids as well. It had more to do with where you were from, and not so much with the skin color. We had African American kids on our team who were model citizens and students. With the LP comparison, it's not comparing weed to physical assault, or even revenge porn to physical assault and attempted murder. The fact is that both are self destructive by nature. The odds are higher that in two years, Mo will be a detriment to himself as opposed to getting a college degree. Frost has to be feeling a lot like how Osborne did in the sense of weighing what might happen if Maurice doesn't have Nebraska. When I heard his story, watched him on national television, found out about him being expelled, seeing and hearing about him being very weird at times, finding out that he associates himself with the crips in stockton, the revenge porn, and now this trivial but dumb decision; I have seen this episode before (and on a loop). It's worse when it gets magnified by how talented he is.

I am in terms of behavior. Mo cannot be left alone, and will self-destruct if he is. I am not comparing his charges to the same things that LP did.

At the risk of reliving the old MW thread, I don't. These charges, in a vacuum, aren't anything. Run some stadium steps, maybe a couple dickbusters, and be done with it. On top of the issues he has in Cali, I think his tenure on the team is certainly in limbo.

I have zero issue with marijuana in a vacuum; I think it should be legalized and taxed. However, on top of his previous charges, this probably doesn't bode well for him.

Maybe I have lived in Colorado for too long, but this drug paraphernalia citation is very minor. Isn't it just a fine?

Just to add onto @Cdog923's post, I read a couple of other things related to this. First, the Red Skull guarding the Soul stone isn't really the same entity that fought Cap. This one has a sole purpose - to guard the Soul stone and impart the knowledge of how to get it upon those seeking it. It's possible he may not even remember what happened between he and Cap; or, if he does remember, he would treat it almost as if it happened in a different life or didn't happen at all, and is therefore irrelevant to the situation. As for Black Widow, Gamora, and any other poor soul that has been sacrificed to obtain it, the 'contract' is binding. That person's life is traded in order to acquire the stone. In some ways, it's almost like the life powers the stone or becomes part of the stone. Returning it would simply mean another person needs to make a sacrifice in order to obtain it.

But is that because of Erstad or because of Nebraska baseball's ceiling? I agree that the expectations have been unrealistic, not just in baseball but in a lot of areas. But I'd argue Moos is showing us that the only reason those expectations have been unrealistic has because we've had B or C level coaches and commitment while expecting A level results. Moos is now giving A level commitment and resources. As far as I know this is really the first time our University has ever really done that.

That is a good benchmark. A little tidbit ....Mike Anderson was my backyard neighbor before he left Greeley for Lincoln.

I think Mike Anderson's tenure at Nebraska should be a good benchmark. Averaged 15 games over .500. One losing season out of nine (3 games below .500), and that can be attributed to injury or bad luck. Finished 4th or better in conference about half the time (4 of 9 years). Won the conference twice. Four Regional appearances. One CWS appearance. Finished the season ranked five out of nine seasons (once in the top ten/four times in top 15). That's a pretty decent tenure at a northern school. I think where people were getting wore down with Erstad's tenure is that he never really had a breakout season, and he finished under .500 twice in eight seasons. By comparison, John Sanders finished under .500 twice in 20 seasons. Anderson benefited from inheriting Dave Van Horn's excellent program, then faded at the end (finishing 10th, 9th & 9th in conference his last three years), but overall, his is a good example of doing a good job at Nebraska.

Your initial baselines are extremely sensible, CH. I don't think anyone would settle for anything less than that unless they just don't care about NU baseball at all. Would like to third the notion it's silly to expect no weird losses in baseball. They happen all the time. Some days even the best teams get in a funk they can't get out of. We're going to have some goofy losses to teams we should beat. My goal would always to strive for LESS of these. One or two a season would be ideal. I would challenge your response to tfmr. The Van Horn years were the golden years for NU baseball. He showed that the right coach with the right players can achieve very high levels of success here. I don't know why we shouldn't strive for that again. My expectations aren't really numbers based but rather just to win again. I want to win a Big 10 tourney for once. I would like to win a regional, and a super regional, and a CWS game. Hosting a regional in Lincoln at Haymarket again would be amazing. Turning TD Ameritrade into a Sea of Red with NU in the CWS! I don't think this is easy by any stretch, given some of the disadvantages we face that have already been mentioned (namely, weather and recruiting). But I think it's what we should be striving to return to. Heck, I just want NU baseball to be more than an afterthought for most people again. To get there we've got to experience a high degree of success on the diamond. Oh, and an ancillary goal: A model coach who represents us well, as Estrad did. It still chaps my buns how much of a joke we became during the Pelini era strictly due to his conduct.

Erstad won 1 Conference Championship due to both Minnesota and Michigan losing and Nebraska beating a very bad Penn State team. It’s not like Nebraska caked walked through the conference to win it they needed a lot of help to win the Conference. In 8 years at Nebraska resume in such a “tough” baseball conference 1 Conference Championship 2-8 in Regionals 0-3 in B1G Tourney Championships 12-13 in B1G Tournament Missed the B1G Tourney in 18’ Never made it to a Super Regional Team batting average has went down every year after Bolt left I believe (2015-Present) The ONLY reason people are upset about Erstad resigning is because he played Football and Baseball at Nebraska. Had he been some Joe Schmoe that had no connection with Nebraska, Husker baseball fans would be calling for him to be fired with his career resume at Nebraska
