  1. So a community in a more diverse city is actually more accepting and welcoming to new people (who may be "different") than other cities or areas of the state which are more singular in a "way of life"? Color me shocked.

  3. I grew up in small town Nebraska and have lived in West Omaha for the past 15 years. I feel my Omaha communities that I've lived in are more accepting of new people moving in than my small town ever was. I also lived in Lincoln for 5 years after graduating from UNK. Lincoln always felt "stuffy" to me.

  4. Frost is a high level coordinator. His issue has been he surrounded himself with people who had far too many flaws and weaknesses that he wasnt able to cover up at the P5 level in my opinion.

  5. He would be even better if he got into good enough shape to be an every down back. He has major ability. Not near his potential.

  6. The same staff that just went undefeated and beat auburn in the post season. Get real. Easy to criticize after the fact but the reality is nobody could have predicted the last 4 years. BM may have sucked at parts of his job but he brought in staffs that were, on paper, awesome. That's all any AD can do.

  7. Republicans and McConnell nuked the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees during the Trump administration or back when they were trying to quickly get Gorsuch appointed so this time around confirmation only takes a simple majority vote.

  8. I cannot count how many times I have witnessed a beautiful play call that was ruined because of an error by a player somewhere on the field. Missed block, incorrect read, poor throw etc.

  9. It's a negative for Husker recruiting. Not as the people themselves. In short, I think it's tougher to make them happy and not always the coaches fault.

  10. I don't disagree that Omahans are different than people in the rest of the state. But, you are treating it as a negative, and that's what I don't agree with.

  11. Kind of reminds me of Tulsa vs OKC. Up until the mid to late 1990s, OKC was considered the 'cow town' while Tulsa was the classy sophisticated town. OKC had the big state fair and Tulsa had the world class museums. Then OKC implemented their MAPS development program and they flew by Tulsa. Finally Tulsa got their act together and now has several world class attractions and is back on par with OKC from an destination perspective. OKC is about 150k bigger in population.

  12. I'll give the staff credit. I think they absolutely did the best they possibility could with landing players from the portal. I don't think they could've reasonably done better. Will that be good enough? I personally don't think so. Without improved OLine play, it doesn't matter what talent we have at receiver or QB. If our starting QB is running for his life every 3rd passing attempt, we're going to struggle.

  13. It's definitely being run in Omaha so I assume it's in Lincoln, as well. I saw it during one of the NFL playoff games two weeks ago. And the 'tool' thing came up over the weekend at a wedding, specifically because of this ad and for very similar reasons that you outlined. Basically that pulling this ad out felt like a clear call to MAGA people. More personally... the whole thing is idiotic. Having a shotgun and cocking it (nothing to do with hunting despite the appearances). Making America Great Again references. Dunking on Fauci. Just dumb low-hanging fruit BS that I'm tired of Republican political candidates pugging because they're afraid of not doing so.

  22. The best definition(s) I ever heard were: If you feel energized by talking to people, you’re an extrovert. If you feel drained, you’re an introvert. You can be extremely charismatic and funny, and still be introverted. I am definitely an introvert. I have fun with groups of people, but I always have to make an excuse to leave the room periodically just to recharge. Even around family and friends that I’ve known for years.

  27. Born and raised in Omaha. Graduated from an Omaha high school and went to UNL. Been living outside of Nebraska for 20+ years, but I still have siblings in Omaha and visit them regularly, and my wife is from Hastings so we go there too. I also try to stay up to date with the local news and events in Omaha. I read Omaha.com regularly, and check out the OWH sports podcasts and 1620 regularly. I think I tend to know the Nebraska area well, despite not living there for 20+ years.

  29. Not at all. Posters are complaining about recruiting in Omaha. I'm just saying that most people in Omaha are not like the rest of the state. They do not live & die red. I deal with customers across the US and from my experience 75% of my Omaha customers are not as down to earth as the rest of the state. In fact, my favorite customers are the good Ole boys in Oklahoma, Texas & Arizona. Minneapolis & the Northeast are my least favorite. I know I will upset someone but never stopped me before. They are just odd ducks.

  31. I dunno, he's pretty cut. At some point it would become a detriment more than anything. I think he's about right where he needs to be. Especially if he's in good enough shape for 7 yards a carry. Let the other backs worry about getting into that kind of shape, and until then give Yant the ball more without all the lame excuses.

  32. In the 2nd tweet, feels very fitting. We just give up so many dang runs. Which is definitely a defensive issue at times but 11-0 runs are also due to lack of execution on offense too.

  35. I agree that Omaha residence have different values than the rest of the state. Nebraska is primarily agriculture and Omaha is not. Doesn’t mean they think they are better. Omaha wants to be a big city and Lincoln tries so hard to keep small town values. There are so many differences but I promise you…. Omaha doesn’t think they are better. as a matter of fact, when I was moving from Lincoln to Omaha, most all Lincoln friends snubbed their nose to it. It’s almost like everyone has a problem with Omaha and doesn’t know why? who knows??? …edited to fix my terrible grammatical errors.

  36. People act like we haven't had any success recently recruiting out of Omaha/Council Bluffs area. Just in 2021, we got the top 4 players out of the area. The year before, we got Betts. This year was a struggle. I admit that. But, it's not like Frost and his staff have been total failures in the area.

  38. But you come on here and act like kids from Omaha are supposed to owe it to the state and come to NU to play football. They don't owe the state anything. People on here have laid out valid demographic, population, and recruiting reasons on why Omaha kids are more likely to consider schools other than UNL, and yet you come on here and just trash on the Omaha metro area based on your own opinions and prejudices.

  39. Man, for me the DL is the issue. Nelson is at best a Indiana type player The Polar Bear is not going to do much. Tannor is going to be the lames 10 year starter in history The good news is that the schedule is very nice and NU might be favored or even in most games all year.

  42. He does deserve credit, especially considering the coaches he hired. While Frost and Hoiberg haven't worked out as everyone has hoped, they each had near unanimous approval from the fans. Now, some will say "well, it wasn't hard to get everyone's top choice". That may be true to an extent, but he still had to convince Frost, Hoiberg, and Bolt to come to NU. Nebraska fans would have revolted in 2017/18 if Frost had gone to another school or stayed at UCF. That's the pressure which was on Moos at the time.

  43. Moos's approach was to hire the coaches, and then let them do their jobs. Most coaches would like that from an AD. Unfortunately, based on rumors on the football staff front, it sounds like some of the football coaches took advantage of that freedom, and weren't as professional as they probably should have been. Regarding the administration of the Athletic Department, again he let his Assistant AD's handle the bulk of the work without micro-management. That can work a lot of the times, but during COVID, with the uncertainty going around the University and Athletic Department, Moos probably needed to be more hands-on. He took the opposite approach, which led to his "early retirement".
