  1. Heading to Vegas this evening.  Not sure I can buy the Huskers at 20-1.  Seems way overpriced.  But will probably jump on AMagic if he is > 20-1

Look for smaller books to take bets on certain games or winning the West. Better value there

    2. JJ Husker

Might be worth a small wager just cuz but you're right, I don't think the odds or our chances are good enough this year to warrant any serious wager on winning it all. Like Ern said, may be better value in winning the west or the conference but not the whole deal.

  2. Hit a new step of parenting today... My oldest has reached the age where he "needs" the $100 shoes instead of the $40 ones.

I found this guide for fitting shoes that looks helpful.  Getting the right shoes (regardless of price) could help prevent knee problems.  http://www.nwhealth.org/pubs/N-107.pdf

I guess I assumed you had a teenager - at 9, we might go through 3 or more sizes per year. Great Xmas idea tho

Meh. I like it and I like how it unnecessarily pisses off the state of iowa, their complex blossoms when it relates to Nebraska.

      JJ Husker

His nickname may hinge on his, his wife's and his mother's Twitter handles. Until they don't reference the Mayor, we may have to accept it. Personally, I kinda like it and as @Savage Husker said, bonus if it pisses off Iowegans.

  5. How many countries have you been to?  And I go by the FIFA definition of countries (so most territories count as countries).

  6. I AM SEEING AN ADD FOR A CROSS PROMOTION OF CU AND JERSEY MIKES SUBS ON A NEBRASKA MESSAGE BOARD.  THE ADD ALGORITHM NEEDS TO GET SMARTER.

i THOUGHT THAT MIGHT BE THE CASE BUT CAPS LOCK FRIDAY MADE IT DIFFICULT TO TELL.

  7. I don’t think refs are biased against NU, I just think they are incompetent.

  8. I just want to say that its amazing that we are living in a time where you can watch basically any sporting event via a hand held personal computer that is also a phone and camera.

Kid has soccer games at 8, noon, and 2, so I should be able to catch parts of the game, but probably not the end...

GF has a coed softball tourney all afternoon. I'm in the same boat.

  9. I know it was cold, but Lovie wearing 2 stocking hats seemed aggressive.

  10. I never realized (or I guess maybe I forgot) that Travis Fisher played 90 games over 8 years in the NFL. He had 9 careers interceptions, including 2 returned for TDs in 2003.

He was the Rams 2nd round draft choice in 2002.  The Rams 3rd round pick that year?  Eric Crouch.

    1. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

I didn't realize that either.  That's probably why he is a UCF legend, as he was one of their first players (besides Dante Culpepper) to make it big in the NFL.

  11. I thought the game was a 2:30 kick and only found out it was a 1:30 kick when I saw a 50 yard Iowa TD highlight on the Texas/Tech game. Then I turned over just in time to see a 2nd 50 yard TD run.

Fan apathy, it’s a real thing.

  12. I’m glad Cook took Eichorst’s advice and went to FB practice to watch how Diaco (aka “the best coach at UNL”) conducted things.

  14. If the CFP committee is going to rank Penn St above Clemson, then Penn St also needs to be above Bama.  Penn St has 2 top 25 wins, while Clemson and Bama have 0.

    2. swmohusker

      swmohusker

The 1 point win over UNC is probably what has them lower.  Bama has been pretty dominant.

    3. Red Five

      Red Five

Bama’s schedule to this point has been terrible.  Their opponents win % is .459 (Penn St is at .630). And Penn St and Bama have very similar average margin of victories (33.4 vs 28.9).

So if you are looking at games played to this point, Penn St deserves to be above Bama because they have much better wins.

    4. ActualCornHusker

      ActualCornHusker

Agreed. But it will all play out. Let's just hope LSU beats Bama, and for good measure, hopefully Auburn beats Bama as well...

  15. In sports with replay, there needs to be a "clock" on the replay time.  If you can't figure it out w/in 1 or 2 minutes, the video shuts off, and the call stands.  Looking frame by frame at video is just ridiculous.  And I said the same thing on the pinkie touch that helped us win vs Illinois.

  16. In Vegas for a conference. Haven’t seen a number posted yet for Saturday (I saw the +13 tweets) . But I’m pretty sure I’ll be on Wisky and the points...

Wiscy?  Well, the Huskers beat Illinois.  And Illinois beat Wiscy.  So ... Transitivity theory!!!

I could really go off on how absolutely stupid these gender reveals, couples engagement showers, etc. have become. It's just people wanting to feel more important than they are and one upping others on social media. It's stupid, please stop. But the thing that gets me in this story is that some writer chose to say they "inadvertently" detonated a pipe bomb.  They may have inadvertently killed Nana but I'm quite sure they fully intended to set off the bomb they obviously built for the event. I'd call it a Darwin moment but I'm guessing it didn't kill the correct person(s).

    4. ZRod

      ZRod

One family's pyrotechnic is another families pipe bomb.

  18. Is there anything more stoopid than “preseason player of the year” or “preseason all American/all conference” polls?

    1. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

Wouldn't preseason player of the year automatically have to be the prior seasons player of the year? And yes it's Stoopid....that player may be out of eligibility.

Glad to see no OU in playoff.  Their defense is not playoff caliber and they’d get blown out against other top teams.  That offense is flashy and covers a lot for stinky defense. #Exposed.
