i'd guess they think martinez is not playing. even if he's 99%,  i'd imagine he's probably going to sit this week.

Troy is 1-1 on the season. Losing to Boise St badly and winning big over Fla A & M.  They have a habit of making life miserable for P5 teams.  We are 1 injury away from starting another true freshman at QB who has only been practicing for 5 weeks.  Their QB is completing 65% of his passes.

  2. Huskers are -43 this weekend.

  3. Huskers might lose their BTT game by 30...Man...By the way...Tim Miles is good on set...Prediction...he will be Dickie V of the Pre-Post game shows.

Would love to see Miles make good at his booth gig.   I always liked him, and didn't think he should've been fired.

I think he will find his groove in the booth/set and I think he will end up liking it a lot more than coaching.

Had some bad luck with some Top 100 guys, but lets be an optimist here and say the last one we had was Adrian Martinez.  He is pretty good.  Cheers to the new Nebraska!

  5. I already miss the old owner of the board...even though I did not know there was an old owner.

  6. I am curious to see what it will be like in Lincoln for the Indiana game.  At team that most fans to really care about it, they won't have many fans making the trip.  The game time could impact things. Do we start to see a little slide in attendance?

When I say "dead", I mean absolutely no excitement.  No energy like typically before a Husker game down town.  The stadium was still full at kickoff.

That is sort of how I imagine it will be for the Indiana game.  It is a "blah" game.

  7. I get the crying but I think for basketball we all expected this, maybe not that loss but a huge struggle.

  10. I know a lot of you like to pretend that Iowa is not a rivalry game...but guess what...this win today just made it one.  If the Skers win Friday...and then win a bowl game...that is a great way to end this season.

I'm probably the biggest proponent of the "Not a rivalry" side, but even I'm coming around.

It just took time, and games with something on the line. Rivalries should be organic, not forced like this was early, or Colorado in the 80s.

Lincoln will be rocking on Friday.  Especially if the weather is decent.

Zoo, are those things amazing?  I have heard soooo many good things about the instapot.

    3. Huskerzoo

      Huskerzoo

@teachercd we like ours, got it as a gift for the wedding. A bit of a learn curve, but it cooks crockpot recipes so fast. It's with my wife right now so she plays with it a bit more than I do.

    4. RedDenver

      RedDenver

The Instapot is really good as an automated pressure cooker, but it's never going to produce really tender meat like a long, slow cooking time will. So for stew I'd stick with the crock pot (or a dutch oven if you have the time to do it on the stove).

  12. I know poker is not as big as it was about 10 years ago...but do any of you have a bad beat (or great win) story?

At an old job, co-workers and I would have a monthly game, my boss and a lot of mid and upper management and me, a direct report at the time.  Not a hug buy in for them, for me at the time it was a decent one, played one table tourneys and we'll play multiple a night.   First game, first hand, I get AK in the hole.   Flop comes A-K-7.   I bet a decent bet and get an immediate call and the other 5 fold.  So now it's heads up.   Next card, a dead card, can't remember what it is.   River card comes, another king.  So I'm sitting full house, Kings over aces.  I go all in, guy calls right away.  Flip my hand start going to collect my chips, he flips his hand.  He had A-A in the hole.  He wins with a full house Aces over kings.  Had to sit and stew for an hour and half waiting for them to finish the game

A baseball mother on one of old teams won the bad beat at a small Indian  casino a few years back- 160000 I think. Her husband was also at the table and won a little chunk as well

I don’t have a bad beat that I can think of in a loss, but we played almost daily in high school and one friend we invited to the table lost bad so we kept inviting him back and he would continue to lose a lot of money. We would invite him and he kept coming back to the games, but then eventually that s.o.b. hung around so much he would catch the river or runner-runner so often that bad beats was renamed to “getting Chad’d.” Effin Chads, man lol. That guy lived on the river and ended up winning so often.

If you want to distill alcohol but not make it consumable, then there's a way to do it legally. Look up how to get a Federal Fuel Alcohol Permit. It's much easier to get than one for human consumption.

Also, it's legal to distill non-alcoholic substances like water and oil without any permit.

What bar doesn't over serve? Why don't authorities work with bars and patrons to just get everyone home safely. It would be better for all.

@ZRod or maybe the Governor could actually work to allow ride share apps like Lyft/Uber to work in Nebraska unfettered instead of kowtowing to taxi services that overcharge and underdeliver (except when it comes to campaign donations).

The Big 12 had a nice rotation that worked. It was predictable, fair, and allowed schools to plan ahead. I think such a thing would greatly benefit the Big Ten as a whole.
