Very grateful for this assistant coach for getting me in the recruiting spirit. Tis the season for pointing.

I just don’t see small OLinemen as projects if they have the frame for the weight. The reason being, as others have mentioned, true freshman linemen don’t normally play anyways. I suppose it can be called a project, but it’s time they were already going to be spending not playing in games. Eventually at Nebraska, I don’t expect redshirt freshmen or sophomore linemen to be playing a lot either, so bringing in more mobile/athletic guys with good frames for a lineman should not be an issue.

Who are the projects? Offensive line isn’t a position that usually gets instant starters. Usually the player needs to go through a year or two of conditioning and weights to see the field. Anderson seems to be a very formittable player. He seems to fit the mold of a redshirt sophomore player. Lynn is the #3 player in Colorado and also fits that exact same mold. Benhart is our highest ranked tackle in years. Bland could be an instant fit as a great guard. They just moved jurgens to center and could be a huge athletic relief. There are also multiple players in this class that could play either side. I don’t view 3 stars as projects, and frankly some of these players could be fantastic for us.

My take on who we have left on our big board. Offense 1 WR Houston and possibly a grad transfer if some young one's transfer 1 RB- Bivens is the only guy we could take imo. Might be given the green light in January depending on the numbers. 1 OL-possibly two with the Bland situation, but if he is good to go we take Fritzsche and we are good here. Defense 2-3 DL- Robinson and one more DE with one nose seems to be the consensus here. We need a young nose to go with Piper because he could play either spot on the D-line. 1-2 LB- We really need an outside linebacker who is ready to go. Could take two if we get someone we just cannot turn down. 2-3 DB- Probably one safety, one corner, and one hybrid I think it will be Gates/Bell, Wallace, and either Mayo or Starks. We do not have room for four at the moment unless we get someone who is a stud. It will also depend on who leaves and when. I believe after signing day we will see some people on the team move on. I would assume 4-5 or more could move on after Christmas break.

This game will be won on defense and intensity. Nebraska shot the lights out, that is usually not sustainable. If Nebraska locks in on the defensive end and keeps winning the 50/50 balls they should come out ahead.

We have the highest rated tackle recruit in at least 2 decades and now people complain about projects? Riley didn’t even take tackles? The only tackles they took they threw into the fold and said play. Frost and co are trying to build up tackle depth so if something were to happen we have capable backups. Matthew Anderson is a top 800 recruit? I would Say far from a project. This kid may be a project. But he’s 6”7 and has a strong work ethic. Let Duval put 40 on him and let’s see where it goes. Better than having no one.

The collection of recruit's individual ratings are summed, but not in a uniform way ( which it looks like many people are assuming). They are weighted using a Gaussian distribution, which may or may not be more valid. If 2 teams have the same number of recruits, and an identical average composite rating....they would be equal if the distribution was uniform. Since it is Gaussian, a team with more highly rated recruits is rewarded more than they are punished for having lower rated recruits. My best attempt at an explanation.

Absolutely. Though right now, I would not bet against this staff when they identify their top target. It's pretty fun to watch them work.

The Illini played the Zags close and had a chance to tie the game with 1 minute left...on a neutral court. The jays gave up 105 points and 65 in the second on their home court. I wouldn't take much from the game vs the Zags... KrumpleJ is horrible and the other center has knees made of pudding. This game, I think, will come down to how the refs call it. I think the skers are going to bump and grind (Like me on the dance floor) and if the refs let it go...NU wins.

It was an enjoyable game to watch last night. As a Minnesota fan, I'm always steeled for the worst, so I was pleasantly surprised at the comeback win. Both teams should find themselves dancing in March. As they said during the studio recap after the game, it wouldn't be surprising if the Big Ten puts 9 or 10 in the tournament. The conference is simply that strong. And what a fantastic gesture by Miles and the rest of the team to show solidarity with Dupree McBrayer. Total class. I've never not enjoyed my interactions with Nebraska fans, whether it be on line or in person (at football games - I haven't been to a basketball game in Lincoln yet).

I actually wouldnt mind adding both Texas and Oklahoma. It would rekindle some fun rivalries.

So the sellout streak isn't interesting to you. That's cool. Most everyone who thinks it's a neat thing understands the situation. They're cool with it. Tennis isn't really interesting to me. To some people it is. I don't go into conversations about tennis and tell everyone how boring I find it. Seems pretty odd to me that some people do.

It's not at all a farce, unless you don't know what sell out means. In which case, in your head, it's a farce. But not in reality.

Nebraska touts a sellout streak. A sellout counts tickets sold. You're talking about attendance. That's a different thing. Something else to note about this article and the inference Sam is making here. These stats are provided in a vacuum. We have no idea how this compares to tickets taken in 2007, 1997, 1987 or 1977. For all we know, this could be reasonably normal.
