This seems pretty fair, IMO. Ever notice how nasty and personal Repubicans get when they go after Democratic women? It seems to me at times that part of it is that they wish women knew their place - subordinate to men. You can argue with that if you want, but the GOP is more explicitly becoming the party of straight white men, and naturally that's going to put them at odds with anyone outside that group.2 points

McMullin badly misses the mark on the progressive view of the wealthy. Pointing out that the incredibly wealthy have disproportionate, damaging influence on our politics here is accurate and in no way comparable to the way Trump and his ilk treat Muslims, African Americans, Hispanics and other minorities and immigrants.2 points

I’m not a basketball expert by any means, but I’m surprised that there is so much vitriol in this thread defending low FT percentage. I didn’t realize that national averages and NBA averages were not higher, but I’m with BRB on this one. We shot worse than usual free throws in the game, which contributed to the loss. Is it not reasonable to want better, and more consistent, free throw shooting? Isn’t that a fundamental part of basketball that these players and coaches should be able to improve upon?2 points

Please get rid of the electoral college. The Midwestern states have way too much influence on the presidential elections and get more than their fair share of representation in the senate.2 points

I wouldn't read anything into the recent USC CB's. The two Texas guys who put in USC CB's have put in 112 and 236 CB's respectively for 2019 recruits. Kevin Ryan, the national guy who put in a crystal ball on 1/1/19 for Nebraska, has made 39 CB's and is 37/39 this year. I'll stick with Kevin's prediction.2 points

The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 43 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”. Nebraska's Mikaela Foecke was not among the 4 finalists for the 2018 volleyball season. Roni Jones-Perry of Brigham Young University, Stanford University’s Kathryn Plummer, Jordyn Poulter of the University of Illinois and Samantha Seliger-Swenson from the University of Minnesota are the four finalists for the Class of 2019 Honda Sport Award for Volleyball as announced today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA). Omitting Foecke negates any credibility this award has. Sort of pathetic, actually.1 point

https://n.rivals.com/news/all-american-bowl-whose-stock-is-on-the-move Stock up- "Throughout the week of practice it was obvious Robinson was going to have a key role in Saturday’s game with the play designs the coaching staff set up for the future Nebraska Cornhusker. Right off the bat Robinson made his impact felt, returning the opening kickoff out to the 37-yard line and then tucking and running for five yards on the game’s first offensive play after an attempted double-pass that broke down. Robinson would finish the game with four receptions for 91 yards."1 point

Wow - I am an outlier here. I think I probably call 911 5+ times a year. I do spend a lot of time on the road, so much of it is accident reports (when it's not safe to stop), loose dogs on highways, but have also reporter domestic violence, fire alarms going off in an empty house, drunk drivers, smouldering fires ... last time was about 2 weeks ago when I saw road rage play out on a major Boston highway - guy getting out of his car to confront another guy. I always feel weird about it, but ultimately decide I'd rather be cautious - I have nightmares about the Kitty Genovese situation.1 point

Agree with this. Agree with this, too. 1) Weed should be legal. C'mon. 2) Although it's stupid, weed is currently illegal. If it's going to get you in trouble, be smart and stay off the weed until it is. Doesn't seem like rocket surgery. :shrug:1 point

Looking back, it's amazing Adam Sandler was paid to star in Billy Madison. A truly terrible film. Happy Gilmore > any other early Sandler film, IMO. I'll die on this hill.1 point

ONE team stands in the way. The Huskers themselves. They stood in their own way all of last year. If they would stop beating themselves, we’re having a bowl game discussion. This is a good progression, if you think about it. They went from being beaten, to beating themselves. Once they get out of their own way, watch out!1 point

There are too many highly rated JuCos and JuCo players close to us to stop recruiting them just because one RB busted out, and another has had minor issues with the law. It's almost like some of you have forgotten where Randy Gregory, Lavonte David and Terrell Farley came from.1 point

I don't know about the others that reported drunk drivers but there's really no question when they're repeatedly going off both shoulders, hit a railing and the concrete barrier twice. Pretty sure it was much more than momentarily distracted. Lately I've noticed quite a few stoned drivers (oh yeah, you can tell) but they're usually driving so slow they aren't going to cause much of a problem...unless a drunk driver rear ends them and that's just karma.1 point

I think motivation and want-to can sometimes be a cop out, but, I believe it played a role in this game. This was a consolation game for Georgia after they failed (for the second year in a row) to beat Bama with everything on the line. Texas wasn't sniffing the CFP even if they had beaten Oklahoma last month, and then here was a chance to take on one of the best of the SEC and regain some national relevance. That's not to say Georgia players didn't want to win. I'm sure they did. But, I don't think they put the same level of care/attention/interest into this game as they did the Bama game.1 point

I would take another Randy Gregory again in a heartbeat. All Randy did was like to smoke pot. He wasn’t a danger to others and by all accounts well liked by his teammates.1 point

The one coach that is "on a pedestal" nearly left and many wanted fired because of how the seasons were going in the 70s. But I doubt they are as similar as you're making them out to be.1 point
