  1. The difference between the orange and red lines is the difference between how productive US workers are and how much they are compensated. The rich are taking everyone else's hard work without giving them any of the increases in their own productivity. If you're going to complain about taking money from the rich, then you should also complain about the rich taking that money from their workers in the first place.

  4. I will never understand how people can defend a system where 0.1% of the people control 90% of the wealth in this country. These people have robbed peter and paul blind to make that much money and folks defend them like they are a family member. These people rig the system in their favor to keep control of all the wealth and we call that "working hard" Give me a break. Greed, buying off politicans and screwing people (employees and consumers) are what these people are good at. f#&% them.

  6. Two people walk into a fancy restaurant. One is dressed like a bum and one is dressed in a nice suit and tie. Who do you think is treated better? I have to deal with what Moraine is saying every day being in the medical field. Nebraska medicine has in peoples charts, I kid you not, as VIP patients aka big donors. When they are on the schedule I have gotten emails sent out to me to give this person "preferential treatment".

  7. Top game ever was the 1996 Fiesta Bowl. We spent the entire day at the stadium prior to the game at the "Tostitos" tailgate and the game was unreal. NU fans came and represented well that night. The 1988 NU vs Colorado game in Lincoln was awesome. We won 7-0 on a very cold day. Eric Biennemy was running for a TD and dropped the ball with no one close to him. NU shut that drive down an won a slobber knocker of a game. Best away game: 1995 game at KU. They were ranked (maybe undefeated) and felt they were going to get the W. Not even close. 2nd best away game: 1983 game at OU. Was soaked from the rain, won the game to go play in the Orange Bowl vs Miami. By most of the comments, you can really tell how young most of those on this board really are. No offense, but any game over the last 20 years is nothing to get excited about, sorry to say.

  11. The amount of compensation one receives, and how valuable their contribution to society is, is very out of whack in my opinion . School teachers, social workers, military people , cops, etc are highly skilled/educated and perform very valuable services to millions of people, but aren't compensated accordingly. Kylie Jenner looks good in her underwear and is a billionaire, Singers sing a (kinda) good song or two and make millions, and others are born into money and make no contribution to society, and have no skills, (Kardashians, Paris Hilton etc) but have millions too. I don't think anyone is saying everyone should be compensated the same, but the disparity between what one does/skill set and value to society, vs compensation level is way off.

  15. I guess I kind of think it's more likely that he ends up here now. He hasn't decommitted so it would seem that he wants to be here. One way or another we ended up with spots left - we are currently at 85 spots without him so assuming even one guys leaves after this semester (which always happens) we have a spot to take him. Both he and the staff seem content to wait. If we would have told him we're not taking him he would have decommitted. If he didn't like that we aren't letting him sign, he would have decommitted. He would have had a lot more options if he would have decommitted a month ago and found somewhere else to go. But that didn't happen. So I think both sides really want it tow work out. Just my $0.02

  18. It's not really an argument. It's an undeniable yes. Although it is a different topic than taxation. One could be for low taxes and want a lot of the policies that benefit only the wealthy be changed. Like bailing them out because they're "too big to fail," removing regulations that keep people safe, putting a cap on what corporations can be sued for, letting them schmooze politicians and help write policy (which is how much of the former happens), letting them off easy when they break the law because they're only committing "white collar" crimes. IMO, no one should want taxes to be lowered until the other stuff is fixed. Nice related read here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikecollins/2015/07/14/the-big-bank-bailout/#776729a32d83

  19. Munson tried to reach him last night and the person who answered said he had the wrong number. They haven’t been able to make contact with him in quite a while. All they know is he is not signing today however he will be kept on the commit list with an outside chance he makes it. Doesn’t look good at the moment though.

  23. There is definitely a shifting definition of radical. I'd say avidly supporting dumping billions of dollars into a wall on the Southern border because it feels good is radical. It's also largely unpopular with the public. On the other hand, Trump and Republicans call things like raising tax rates on wealthy people and universal healthcare "radical" because they know they lose the argument on the merits and can only resort to name calling. They're also incredibly popular with the public. The problem is the GOP has a really sh#tty definition of "radical."

  26. I believe she has been an outstanding senator for my state. Her campaigns have been clean. She doesn't attack he opponent with scare tactic ads. She, to my knowledge, is free of any real controversy. She is able to pass a lot of legislation which means she has the ability to work in a bi-partisan way. She is honest, level-headed, and direct. She doesn't shriek her policies at people and doesn't make a spectacle of herself with her time in front of the camera. I think she truly has the interests of ALL people in mind when she makes or considers legislation.

  27. Didn’t want to make a new topic. But I wanted to post about the “You just hate Trump” crowd. This argument gets used a lot by his defenders, including in this forum. Although some of those claim to not like him. It’s amazing how many people don’t like him but defend him. Their sentiment is that because there are a lot of criticisms of Trump, it must be because people hate him. And this is used as an attempt to nullify all arguments against his fitness to be president. Sarah Sanders: This has to be the s#!ttiest and dumbest defense of a politician I’ve heard on my lifetime. People are critical of Trump more often than of any previous presidents because he does and says more things that are worthy of criticism than any other president before him. People are trying to treat it like it all started with people hating him, as if nothing Trump does or says actually causes the criticism. It’s idiotic. It’s also crazy the things people will do to shut their brains off so they can continue supporting him.

  28. He played well everywhere he went including Chicago. Tough as nails (fractured his spine in 2 places only to come back into the game against the Patriots last year) and was thought of as another o line coach by the coaching staff when he went on injured reserve with the Colts this season. Played in all 16 games in 6 of his 9 active seasons in the NFL. Warrior.
