So much for that UNO bandwagon...
-
Ha! I know! I woke up last night and looked at the score and right away I was like "Well, that is lame" and I was totally over it. It would have been fun if they made it and it would have been crazy if they pulled an upset. Now, like most of us...I will forget about them until the next time they are in the conference final.

So, Weezer dropped an album full of covers, and I don't hate it? Start here:

So...are there no hotels in Arkansas that the Miami football team could stay in for a few days?

With a category 5 hurricane bearing down on Florida, I think it's reasonable to cancel the game so all the University of Miami students and employees (including the football team) to prepare to evacuate or get their stuff in order. Yes, it's unfortunate the game is cancelled, but life is bigger than football.

So...are we losing everything? Status updates? Rep points?

@JJ Husker Well shoot; I liked my firstborn.

@Cdog923 suck it up buttercup, this is about football

Someone else go vote in the "1999 vs. 1996" thread, so I don't have to come up with a way to break the tie.

Speaking of irritating: looks like Husker Headquarters is ripping BBB Printing off:

@Judoka is right. BBB Printing's shirt is an homage to that California Republic logo. But Husker HQ is ripping off BBB Printing's shirt, not offering an homage to it.

@Minnesota_husker Ripping already in progress.

Tate Martell is in the transfer portal.

@HuskerInLostWages that reminds me of Cam's sister in Modern Family. Her name is Pameron.
-
@ColoradoHuskThat is a hideous name, but to each their own. I also discovered that Tathen has a sister than looks just like him but with injected lips(heavily injected lips).

The hypocrisy at work with how some people are viewing the basketball "search" this year vs. the football search two years ago is staggering.

I think Riley and his team had already quit by the Minnesota game. Hard to really feel too much for a group that has packed it in. Miles crew is playing good basketball right now (for what they have personnel wise) and they are playing basketball the right way. Much easier to feel for him as he is on his way out. With that being said I see nothing wrong with how Moos has gotten Hoiberg if that actually happens. Cant let personal feelings get in the way of doing what is best for the university.
-
@Enhance Mike Schaefer peddling the Moos story on Sharp & Benning was where I first heard it, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if your bird theories have a ton of merit.

The USWNT running through Thailand like it's a mid-November SEC game.

The World Cup has convinced me that Alternate Uniforms are garbage.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I have almost zero interest in a winter football season.

@JJ Husker "The conference's only way to save face is for it to go horribly wrong for the SEC and ACC." Well, those schools have already started switching to online-only classes, so...

This team is awful. They will be good some day, but they are flat-out awful.

Tournament win next year or bust for Miles.

@Comfortably Numb That encompasses my point: at what point is it ok to have that expectation for basketball? Why can't we say "You have to go win a tournament game", especially with the talent returning to the team? If you continue to have low expectations for the program, you'll never be disappointed with a 5 seed in the NIT.
-
But sometimes it pays to be patient. When you fire your coach you can count on losing most of a year in recruiting. That puts the program in a huge hole for the next guy. When you fire two or three coaches in a decade it's hard to get traction in recruiting, and a base to build on. Eventually you get a rep as an unstable team. (This might hold true more for football than basketball.) That said, Miles has had several years now. So you'd hope his team would start showing results. /jmho
-
@Cdog923 I think we can have that expectation. I guess I'm agreeing with both of you to some extent. I think that should be the expectation this coming season but I also think, in reality, if Miles just makes the tournament that he probably won't be let go. And yes you are right, if we don't ratchet up the expectations for the program when it is warranted like it appears to be now, then we can expect to receive the same subpar results this program has always delivered.

Ts & Ps to anyone who cheered for Wisconsin tonight.

Were Spring Game ticket sales procedures changed this year? Did they block a day for season ticket holders last year?

What might have been had Miles figured out he had a bench in November rather than March...

Borchardt is averaging 18 minutes a game (skewed upward since the injury to Copeland, no doubt), Harris 11 minutes, Thor 9 minutes and Trueblood 5. The 5 starters? All over 30 minutes a game. It's being proven that there wasn't any reason why Borchardt couldn't have averaged 18 minutes all year spelling both Roby and Copeland, or why Thor and Trueblood couldn't have gotten 10-12 minutes a game to give Watson, Allen and Palmer some breathers. Harris is the one exception because he was sick, but still; if you take 2 minutes away from each of the five starters, who knows how deep the bench could have gotten (or how prepared for Copeland's injury they might have been).
-
So this all just really speaks to how it wouldn't have mattered anyway and Miles just isn't that great of a coach?
I mean I respect the heck out of the guy for giving it his all but he's consistently been outcached a lot in his tenure here despite getting some really talented players to Lincoln.
He just doesn't have that it factor that could potentially make Nebraska a perennial conference contender instead of a fun, scrappy underachiever.
