Was this sarcasm? I couldn't tell. You've got the saying wrong first of all, it's "no news is good news." We could be hearing about arrests, hospitalizations, fights, etc. No news seems more like they are focused and aren't exactly looking for attention right now. I like it. I'd much rather go into the season underrated than overrated. Also, I like to hear team news, but I completely understand the desire to push all the reporters out for awhile. The coaches have work to do and they don't need unnecessary distractions.7 points

I think this video was in response to a video put out by the Syracuse weights coach where one of his lifters had hoisted a total weight 95 pounds less and Duval couldn't resist.4 points

The problem with this reasoning is far too often people use it to justify poor defense even in the modern context. We're not ranked 30th/90th/whatever because the game has changed. We're ranked that because there's 30-90 better defenses. The only thing stopping Nebraska from being elite on defense over the last 7 seasons has been Nebraska.4 points

Diaco took over a defense that was ranked 30th. Chinander is taking over a defense that was ranked 101st. Chin's short-term task is much, much easier. Plus he gets to ride the coattails of the best offensive coordinator in the nation. Dude has it made.3 points

Well, there has been uproar about trying to stop it from happening again. That's part of the reason for the investigation. We need to know who and how they did it before we can stop them from doing it again. Problem is, the leader of our country does not support the investigation and STILL is trying to convince America that it's some DEEP STATE conspiracy theory and a huge which hunt. So....it makes it harder for the sane people in our government to actually work to make it not happen again when our dear leader (their boss) does nothing but fight them and ridicule them in public for their hard work. His protests on this issue pretty much tells me where his loyalties are......hint.....it's not America.3 points

Not a Trump follower, nor a fan of Hillary... but have a legitimate issue with some of this: No where have I seen that the Russians made up, falsified, or planted, any of the material from the DNC or Hillary's staff, they just hacked in and released it. Was all of the released material genuine? Why the uproar over whether there was collusion, and barely a whimper about stopping it from happening again? We seem to be more worried about who is to blame (the Russians) than making sure it doesn't affect future elections... ...back to my lurking, and thanks in advance.3 points

If Colorado could ever get it together again they could become a giant thorn in Nebraska's side. Boulder is an absolutely breathtaking campus. Plus, you know the herb.2 points

With an #827 National Rank and #76 OT Rank he is not a "must" in my 2020 class or at the position at this time. If we take three OT I think he is the lowest rank of them all. I'll at least hope for that. Based on rankings alone ... we have to do better then this. I'd be curious to see the Frost OT board and where this guy sits on it. I don't think he is the top guy at all ... thus, not a "must".2 points

We never get that kind of information, nor did we in the 90s from what I recall. I read pretty much every OWH article back then. Nor do we need to have the information. We're fans. Besides that, we've gotten plenty of little tidbits from Duval including videos. Not sure what you're wanting - we've seen some squat numbers, we've seen players improve their jumping height. What exactly are you looking for here?2 points

Agreed. I think we are thin in certain places but the players just weren't coached well, not to mention other problems. Delaware as a hair gel salesman2 points

Maybe he's just plain bad and was a little lucky at OSU with his good seasons. Or maybe he thought Nebraska would he smooth sailing because be got a big boost in talent so he didn't put as much effort in. That or course doesn't explain all the boneheaded game management, which goes back to being bad at coaching.2 points

I like that these uniforms are named after sh*tty steak sauce, though I can't articulate why.2 points

Improving on what Diaco did will satisfy most fans in the short term. Chinander has one of the easiest jobs in America. However, now that I realize he vaguely resembles Ben Aflac, he's on a short leash.2 points

So I wanted to share my good deed for the week. I was at work and stepped out for a smoke... And i noticed a dude in his early 20s pushing a stroller wearing shoes that were coming apart at the seams. I stopped him to try to figure out what type of person he was. I noticed his son was properly dressed and the stroller happened to be a higher end stroller. So he goes on to say his son is his world and he doesn't have the time or money to worry about his self or his appearance because his son gets all of his attention and extra money he has. Now I'm thinking, this is a good dude and i want to help this man out. I reach into my pockets, pulled out 2 wads of cash, removed the rubber bands, and then i gave him the rubber bands to help him hold his shoes together. Good karma coming my way soon! Stay humble!2 points

It is amazing that Riley was/is so respected for getting the most out of less...when it is so clear that the opposite is true.2 points

Happening right now. Whether there was collusion or not, there can no longer be a denial that the Russians influenced the 2016 election. If this had happened and Clinton had won, the Russians would have disclosed it to cast doubt on the legitimacy of her presidency. But since Trump won, there's been no such claim. I wonder why...1 point

Yup, I won't go crazy over the pickup and actually think Anderson is a better prospect but we need 3 HS guys.1 point
-
1. He's a 2019 recruit. 2. He's higher rated than Anderson right now. 3. Keeps the Colo pipeline live and well. 4. I don't think he's at the top of the board, but he's an option. Maybe not a must get, but he'd be a welcome addition.1 point

Just read that yes, Article 5 would be pertinent. And no he shouldn't meet with him, but he especially shouldn't do so alone. And I have a feeling he will do both. We should all be fearful of what will happen in that room. I can only hope that our men and women in the CIA/FBI etc have the capability to record what happens there and use it to protect the United States. I have no doubt whatever is discussed is not good for us citizens.1 point

I'm sure there will be some growing pains but I do not think this defense is nearly as devoid of talent as you seem to keep making it out to be.1 point

I agree, definitely. A professor I TA'd for was like that. He was a genius but he had trouble relating to 18-22 year olds because either he never went through a time of being confused about the subject or it was so long ago he couldn't remember what it was like or what the tougher parts were. Whereas I was only a year or two removed from being confused about some of the things in the class I was helping with.1 point

One thing I did notice is that it seems many commentators and prognosticators don't seem to taking into account the schedules of our opponents in the three weeks PRIOR to our game with each. Many of them have some tough schedules themselves which can easily destroy a given team's morale, confidence, injuries, etc. There are some opportunities for several of the teams forecast to beat NU to fall flat before we play them. We have chances against teams that will come off losses etc. as well.1 point

Wow, it must be most impressive being the fifth winningest coach in the B1G with a 59.6 winning percentage. Apparently, you must coach in the B1G for at least 20 years in order to even qualify for this honor. Heck, Bo won over 70% of his games. Urban Meyer has won over 90% of his games while in the B1G. Dantonio has coached in the B1G for 11 years, and his winning percentage is almost 10 points higher than Ferentz. It appears to me that Ferentz made the list simply by putting 20 years in the B1G.1 point

The tariffs are hitting some people hard. Examples are the ones that need to buy imported aluminum and steel. Farmers aren't being hit hard yet with the nose dive of commodity prices because the crops are still in the field. Some have already forward sold their crops before the nose dive. The rest won't feel the pain till they actually sell their crops this winter. The economy actually is doing very well and it's not just at the Wall Street level. This good economy started building about 8-9 years ago. We have seen it continue over 18 months of the Trump administration. The fear is that what he is doing with tariffs and trade will eventually destroy what has been building. Companies buy back stock for a few different reasons. You bring up some good points in that they usually do it when they feel the stock is undervalued and have extra cash. Consider it like paying down a line of credit. If they have a big project in the future or need to raise capital because of hard times, they need to have stock to sell. So, many companies will buy back stocks in times like this so they have the reserve of stocks to sell in the future. Hopefully, they buy them back at a relatively cheap price. I'm not as outraged about the stock buybacks as some because I look at it as a normal financial transaction companies use to secure their ability to raise capital when needed. We are also seeing wages rise due to the tight labor market. You gotta love Republican's fiscal conservatism....don't ya???1 point

Thanks. That explains more about lack of JUCOs. I was once under the impression that recruiting, or not recruiting, JUCOs was more of an athletic department decision. Interesting how things appear to have changed since new direction of leadership, and happy they are willing to take on riskier kids. Sounds like they are more committed to winning.1 point
