  1. Chinander is my favorite just because of the "do I hold it?" joke

  2. not entirely relevant to this topic, but I just thought this tweet was on the same lines of “poor me” as the others posted earlier. Sam, you cover sports. I understand it’s your job, but at the end of the day I hight doubt you’re covering something so earth shattering that you have “off the record” conversations all the time. Get a grip, man. The only time that I’d argue an off the record conversation is sports is meaningful, or that you’d get annoyed if it was off the record, is if it’s related to some sort of scandal or cover up (Baylor, Michigan State, etc.). Other than that, I don’t really see how people could be missing out on off the record conversations. Highly doubt it’s “worse” than other areas in life.

  3. It's hard not getting fired up listening to Tanner Farmer's interview.

  4. Pelini generally recruited at about the same rank as his teams ended up in the polls. Riley's results were worse than his recruiting ranks. So far Frost has shown that he can achieve much better on field results than his recruiting ranks - and going off his first year of recruiting, he'll recruit just as well or better than Pelini/Riley. If he can recruit in the top 25 I think we'll see top 15 seasons, and maybe have a really great season occasionally.

  8. With a decent amount of interviews so far (and no actual on field performance to gauge), which assistant coach is your favorite on the new staff? I’ll start out with Walters. I think he does a great job of explaining and seems to have a ton of passion for coaching. Like him more and more the more I hear him talk.

  12. Dewitt - i can't wait for the day when he's trying explain things and the guys aren't quite getting it, so he can say, "This isn't rocket science fellas!!" but seriously - i do like the guy a A LOT.

  15. Well you're clearly viewing it wrong. The only way to watch the movie is with 30 years of fan boy day dreams and 10 ideas of how YOU would have written the movie.

  17. It’s not the local media’s job to be the positive voice for the program. You do understand that they aren’t affiliated with the NU athletic program right?

  18. Also... Sam has been going from one of my favorites (when he wasn't at the OWH), to less liked. He was a "toxic culture" excuse maker for Riley's tenure, and even up until late last season, was trying to pin things on the previous staff. Hey Sam, maybe, just maybe it wasn't "sabotage" against the program. Maybe, the fact that most everyone didn't like Shawn "Bob Diaco's the greatest coach at the school" Eichorst, was because he shouldn't have been here, and they were trying to save the program from being run further into the ground. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  19. Heaven forbid these guys actually have to work at developing sources again versus having carte blanche to stroll about. The line about bi$%^ing about wanting more access to quell the message board rumors is hysterical to me. The media could have 100% access and we would still go nuts speculating on things. We're insane people and we all know it.

  23. I agree with the author of this article. It seems to me that these republican religitards are doing what they can to install their own "christian" version of sharia law. I fundamentally agree that stopping human trafficking and sexual slavery are noble goals that we should work towards. However, as the author correctly points out, the scope is far too broad and will just push it more "underground." This is what happens when you give idiotic religious bigots carte blanche power. Didn't it used to republicans who were against legislation like this because it meant government was getting too involved in citizens lives? But now, with them in complete power, their fascist tendencies are truly showing. What's the over/under until some right-wing, religious bigot gets busted because of these new laws because he was trolling for gay men? Not many people do #Hypocrisy better than religious republicans.

  28. I voted Walters. He seems, IMO, to have the most interviews.....I also really like Held. He says what needs to be said. He gets it. I really like Fisher and his attitude. Gotta be a dog on the backend, gotta hit, 24 hour rule etc.....Refreshing across the board to have such a competent staff.

  31. I would have to think this is a moot conversation as long as California sticks with their guns. Like Moiraine said, this will only last 6.5 more years at worst. Ford and GM aren't going to roll out two versions of a car for that time. It would be cheaper to make the "more expensive' one and sell it to everybody.

  32. I'm usually behind the things Sam writes/says but I think he's pretty far off on this. I think a more open approach to practice is bad at programs like Nebraska, Alabama or tOSU, where the craze and hunger for news is insatiable. If anything, it creates more hype and less substance. It also breeds a lot of difficult to digest information. Last year was a prime example: we had reporter after reporter talking about what they were seeing in practice, good plays made by certain players, other players struggling with things, etc. It built up a sense that last year's Nebraska team was going to pretty good and had finally figured a lot of things out. The exact opposite was true. But, most importantly, I think Frost said it best: players at this level shouldn't be afraid to fail. Dozens of media members camping out on the practice field, sending tweets about good plays and bad plays in practice, is dicey. I want to hear and see everything about this team as much as the next fan but I think there can be too much of a good thing. Some fans need to be protected from themselves.

  34. To be fair, those quotes could have been used for 75% of the people on this board. Also, McKewon was very pessimistic going into 2017, and most people hated him for it.

  35. Also true with the receivers. Backs define the personnel, but receivers better define what play it will be. The exact personnel, spacing and depth, combined with how the defense initially aligns, are your big indicators as to the exact play. It's a very hard offense for a defense to anticipate, and even when they do, there are just so many other options built in. So much fun to watch.

  36. Was transferring the best decision for her? Sure; she's at a better program and in the Final Four. Would she have been alright on this year's team? Probably; they were a tournament team without her. Was transferring mutually beneficial for all parties involved? Probably so. Can I only write posts with questions in them? We'll see? #PerdHaply

  37. The plot hasn't advanced because it's the same as it was at the end of TFA: the Resistance is running from the First Order after blowing up a big, bad space weapon. All the questions about the characters have basically been made moot: Who is Snoke? (doesn't matter) Who are Rey's parents? (doesn't matter) How does Luke fit into the story? (dead) What's Luke going to do with Rey? (nothing) What's there to even be curious about? At the end of Empire, the Rebels had been routed from their Hoth base, Han was frozen in carbonite and sent to Jabba, and Vader claimed to be Luke's father. Those were plot lines that we were eager to see how they were resolved. And while Star Wars is fictional, it still has to be good and it's going to get criticized on it's weaker parts. The Last Jedi was to Star Wars what Man of Steel was to Superman - a destruction of the themes and motivations that made those fictional universes and characters work. And Last Jedi is a bigger error because it's episode 8 in a series whereas Man of Steel is a re-imagining of an origin story. Abandoning everything that was setup in episode 7 just makes no sense.

  40. Okay so now that I have talked about all the positives of TLJ, there are questions: 1) How did Hux get the Resistance "tied to a string?" How did that occur? 2) After Holdo jumped to lightspeed and split Snoke's ship in half, how did Finn and Rose survive? (Because clearly that went right through where they were.) 3) We see Captain Phasma marching towards Finn after the ship split. I feel like there is a least one, possibly two scenes missing there. 4) How did Finn and Rose transition from that scout walker, to the shuttle, and fly out of there? That entire hanger was exploding and it just seems a little ex-machina for them to make it out. 5) On the surface of the ice/salt planet, Leia is standing there watching a shuttle and tie fighters come towards the big blast door and she says to close it. Why wasn't it closed already? 6) The gold dice on the chain, first seen in the Millenium Falcon, where did that come from and what was it's significance? Oh and one more note: The scene where Chewie had roasted some ¿Porgs? and they look at him with those wide eyes...I would have taken a bite, several bites, while maintaining direct eye contact.
