  1. 2012 Wisconsin is the hands down winner here. Nebraska had no business losing by 40+ points to a 7-5 Wisconsin team that backed its way into a conference championship game because of tOSU's ineligibility. Not only was the performance uninspired but NU's defense was embarrassingly torched by some of the same plays over and over. On paper, that was BP's best chance to win a conference championship and he couldn't get it done. I'm still completely flustered by that game to this day. As a side note, 2014 Wisconsin is an interesting choice to consider because this loss was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I felt it was time for BP to be let go after that game.

  2. There are certain things in history that simply can't be undone. Are we going to just have everyone who isn't native American not own any land in the US and probably have to move out of the country so all the native Americans can have their land back? Obviously not. There is no way for that to actually take place. What white people did to the native Americans is deplorable and should never have happened. BUT...let's not pretend that before that, native American tribes were living here in peace and harmony. They were brutal to each other taking land and territories from each other.

  3. Statistically, it's 2012 Wisconsin part 2....by a mile. You can't get much more embarrassing than that. Personally the 2010 Texas game when we were ranked 5th in the country, hadn't trailed in a game yet on the scoreboard, revenge for the 2009 title game, were playing at home, and were playing a Texas team that finished 5-7........that was just the biggest kick in the crotch imaginable.

  8. We seem to be behind if we are serious with this kid. Says Washington and Northwestern are his leaders. Should add those two to the voting poll. Talks Washington as well as his tendinitis issues. Says wants to commit by end of June. https://247sports.com/college/washington/Article/The-Washington-Huskies-are-one-of-2019-George-Ranch-Richmond-Tx-DE-Peter-Mpagis-top-schools-now-that-theyve-offered-118113064

  9. If Bo was as nice a guy as Mike Riley then Bo might be here also. If Bo could recruit like Callahan and was as nice as Mike Riley, we might've had another Tom Osborne.

  10. In the thread about Pelini’s best win, I was reminded that there were so many exciting moments during the Pelini years, but then this thread comes along and reminds of all the gut-punches and flabbergasting disappointments. Some losses to bad teams simply should not have been, but others were defeats snatched from the jaws of victory that prevented us from taking that next step toward relevancy and/or hardware in the trophy case: Think about the title games vs Texas and OU, and our series against V Tech. Not to mention Texas A&M. So much frustration. Makes ya want to swing a hat at a ref.

  11. 2012 Badger game and it’s not even close imo. That was the worst effort I’ve ever seen a team give in a meaningful game. There is no reason whatsoever for Nebraska to give up 600 yards rushing to a 7-5 team.

  15. Still the best summary of the America's gun control debate (or lack thereof): Ever since then, I watch each one of these tragedies as someone who supports moderate gun control efforts to at least stem the tide of dead children and have to just shrug. The problem is there is no amount of gun control that's acceptable to gun enthusiasts & gun rights folks, so what are the rest of us to do? The structure of the House ensures they have more representation that won't budge.

  16. In his six years, Frank Solich only had one season that wouldn't have been welcome on Tom Osborne's resume. But man....that 7-7 season hit Nebraska fans like a Callahan/Riley sandwich back in the day. Of course we should welcome the man back. Some forget that Frank was also the toughest 160 pound fullback you've ever seen.

  17. The 2012 Loss to Wisconsin was the worst loss, for a couple of reasons IMO. It was in the CCG and the fact that they looked completely lost are big reasons. They just got annihilated. I would not have been surprised at losing to Wisconsin it was just the manner at which it happened. It reminded me of the 2001 game against Colorado. NU limped into that game and had nothing left in the tank. They were beat up and had a lot of hurt guys and Wisconsin was getting all their guys healthy and they were just hungry to beat Nebraska. The game plan was terrible the adjustments were terrible. Just an awful game.

  18. I agree. I have to rank conference title game losses as worse than other losses because of their greater significance. The fact that Nebraska got blown out by that 2012 Wisconsin team makes it by far the worst conference title game loss in the Pelini Era.

  20. Good poll with some tough choices. I went with Whisky 2, Electric Bugaloo but I came really, really close to picking 2010 Texas. Don't get me wrong, the beatdown losses stink but after a while you just block it out. Nebraska hyped that game against Texas to the Nth degree (no pun intended) and Nebraska came out and laid an absolute egg against Texas. It was maddeningly frustrating. I can still picture Rex Burkhead and Brandon Kinnie dropping sure TDs passes. Plus....Texas.

  21. It's hard to play football when you're still blasted from the night before. At least that game was on the players. Wisky '12 was primarily on the coaches.

  22. Completely agree with you here and I do understand your sentiment in the original post. As you said, it isn't easy. In the end it won't be fair to someone and they will have to decide it doesn't matter and be bigger than that. I think many inviduals are willing to do so, but it will take everyone. That is the problem we face. Hate is much more easily perpetuated than love. Ultimately the systems now in place must be broken down to their basic premises and reestablished as inclusive and fair. Greed and stubbornness will greatly resist this process. It is a complex issue and as you said we will not come up with a solution here on huskerboard. It will take real dedicated collaborative problem solving and alot of patience and understanding.

  24. I'm not going to assume anything of the sort if it's people who back Trump who are looking into it. It's intuitively obvious it wasn't politically motivated. If it had been, as has been said hundreds of times, the news of the investigation would have come out in October or November. Yet they came out with the news on Clinton.

  25. I think that statement was an effort to not look politically motivated. OF COURSE everyone should agree that the FBI should not be investigating anyone for political purposes. So, they will go through the motions of the investigation and then come out with a statement at some time in the future stating that there were no political motivations in the investigation.

  28. Terrible example. There's plenty of land for all of us, whereas not everybody can drive one car at the same time. I was born here just like they were, so the "car" is just as much mine as theirs. Such a hypocritical Theory, considering the liberal stance on immigration, and how they have every right to be here.

  29. This is along the same line of the point I was trying to make earlier. That's just the way the world worked, and white people certainly didn't have the market cornered.

  30. Personally, I can admit that what my ancestors did was disgusting, but also understand that I had no part in it, and that I have just as much right as any Native American to live/own land here.

  31. Frost said earlier this week that there may be "a couple more". So possibly Ward and Decker are the last but you never know. We're down to 84 now (assuming Brokop is actually gone). Which is still 7 better than we were a year ago.

  34. I think it's hard to trust the integrity of this poll for two reasons: 1) recency bias and 2) Sam just tweeted out three 'unpopular sports opinions' on May 11 and said the 1999 team would've won a national title if TO was still the coach. I think it's influencing a lot of his followers to vote for '99. In fact, I almost voted for it myself (because I had remembered seeing his tweet) but then I thought about it and said wait... no... 1983 has to be it. Here's the tweet:
