  2. Well, I don’t quite agree with you, either. I don’t like it when fans don’t want to give credit to their team. That’s part of the game, and we capitalized. We’re good enough to do that now. 4-5 weeks ago we weren’t. Not aiming this at you in particular but speaking in general - It seems like a lot of fans say Nebraska deserved to lose if they turned it over a bunch and lost, then they say Nebraska deserved to lose when the other team turned it over a bunch and we won. It shouldn’t work both ways.

  3. The young people of the 1920s were the drunkest, laziest, and most entitled America had ever seen. And all the adults piled into the stock market uninformed and wanting to get something for nothing. That didn't work out so well. The Greatest Generation was Great because they didn't have a choice. They had the Depression and World War II thrust upon them. The teens and twenty somethings in the 1960s probably did set the precedent for what we have today, but some of that is a profound improvement. This has been going on forever. The only thing new is the term "snowflake" which also describes the millions of people throughout history who didn't take criticism well.

  6. well, I learned the following, starting with the positive first: (1) We have a very special offense and we can play with the best of them. We can score on anyone. (2) Adrian Martinez is a STUD and he will only get better. He might be our best shot to have another Heisman winner in almost two decades. (3) Spielman and Stanley are NFL caliber receivers and we will be seeing Stanley in the NFL next year. (4) We can actually block a punt...yeah (5) Our defense is horrible against the run...they are really struggling and that has cost us a few games this year. We simply struggle to stop good running backs even when we know they will be carrying the ball. (6) Saying that our kicker is bad is an understatement of the year...WE NEED A DECENT KICKER VERY SOON. (7) Our special teams are still work in progress but they showed some improvements today. (8) We need our defense to show up next week early because if we let Michigan State start quick, it will be hard for us to score on their defense. (9) We still commit too many penalties with some being silly with bad timing. (10) I never thought I would be so happy and hopeful with a 3-7 record but this is the most exciting 3-7 team in the country. Go Big Red!

  7. What? Mills isn't big enough but Mazour is gonna fill his spot? That makes no sense. Also people need to give up on mazour turning into rex burkhead. What? 10. wait...you are the expert on everything and you have to ask me? i would think someone who knows more about the law than the lawyers do, more about economics than the economists do, more about science than the scientist do, and more about google than google does, wouldn't have to ask me that question.

  14. I’m not a professor, and I never did any of those things. I demerit anecdotes when people use them incorrectly. They can used to prove something wrong. E.g. if someone says eggs never crack, I can hand them a broken egg and one example works to prove it wrong. If someone tries to compare one generation of teenagers to some other undefined generation of teenagers and says something like “One time I saw this kid wearing his pants funny and he rolled his eyes at me. Kids these days!” to prove that kids these days in general are bad then it is absolutely worthless. Of course they shape a person’s worldview, but if you know what they are you don’t use them as proof of anything which is what you’re doing. I used anecdotes myself when saying most of the ones I’ve been around are fine. This isn’t proof they’re all fine or even most are but I’m not the one whining about a generation of people in a football forum based on a few anecdotes. The most likely reality is every generation of old farts pisses and moans like “snowflakes” over those darned young people. Also, the term “snowflakes” usually precedes a bunch of drivel and gives me an idea of where you got your ideas on this age group from. Btw, I looked up college football transfer rates and they are basically flat for the past 14 years. They are 0.6% higher now than they were in 2004. I couldn’t find data from before that.

  16. When did the "lock down, Blackshirt" defense come? Because "more than a few" we're ready to run Charlie McBride out of town once upon a time. Chinander has coached less than one full season at Nebraska as of today. Please enlighten us......

  17. Defensive approach is fine, we just need athletes to fill certain positions. With this offense, the idea will be to bend and not break, and get turnovers to put the ball back in the offense's hands. Talent needs to be improved at NT, OLB, CB and Safety; in other terms: upgrades are needed at a ton of positions.

  19. The problem with that is 90+% of your claims turn out to be false and therefore the burden of proof shouldn't be on others to verify which of the small % of your claims is true.

  30. I believe around 5% of it is lately and it’ll increase slightly. Once the boomers die it could probably easily be fully funded by SS tax again. But I was going to make a similar comment. People who think SS is some huge problem that’s dragging the country down (“The number one long term liability facing our country our entitelement programs like Social Security and Medicare”) can’t possibly understand how it works. And the reduction in payments could be pushed back many years, and the % from the general fund reduced to 0, if they got rid of the cap on the tax.

  38. Disrespecting the military only counts if you're a self deprecating comedian on SNL.....if you're a commander-in-chief or acting attorney general, it's okay to scam veterans, attack the parents of a deceased bronze star veteran, and mock a POW for being captured. Did you even take civics class????? Day one stuff.

  40. Presidential Debate Strategy I was having a discussion with a friend yesterday about this; I think Democrats absolutely need someone who can handle their own in the debate. I'm not saying out-Trump Donald's WWF antics. But they need to be informed, blunt, and somewhat entertaining. By all accounts, HRC dominated Trump on policy, facts, and logic. But that isn't what people saw. The highlights were 10-second antics (mostly lies). You have to be able to combat that. For example, if law enforcement is the topic: "I support our boys in blue. He attacks our FBI for doing their job. Campaign Chair, CONVICTED 8X. National security advise, PLED GUILTY. Foreign policy adviser, PLED GUILTY. Campaign Aide, PLED GUILTY. His own attorney pled guilty and accused him of federal crimes. Trump doesn't support law enforcement, because he runs a criminal enterprise." Long eloquent speeches and policy wonk talk don't cut it in that arena. Unfortunately, we live in a reality TV era and people want to be entertained, not educated.
