  1. First Statement: Moos' Statement: Updated Statement: I really don't see how any of this contradicts itself.

  3. Trump is stating his intent to declare an "emergency" so he can force American taxpayers to pay for his racist money pit. Remember, if you're in favor of this stunt by Trump, you're saying you'd have been OK with any other president bypassing congress to get their pet project done. For example, if Obama had just declared a national emergency and funded Obamacare rather than vet it through months of congressional discussion. The powers you allow those in office today will be used by people you oppose tomorrow.

  5. It's gross that you're attempting to oversimplify this and ignore relevant details. a) He likely didn't know it was a video of an alleged sex assault. No one else viewing it, including the police and the school, seems to have come to the conclusion it was a video of sex assault. b) Even the law differentiates between the punishments for child porn depending on how old you are in many states (including Nebraska, btw). I'm sorry if this rationalization is gross to you, but an 18 year old having a video of his ex girlfriend when she was 15 that he received when he was 16 is not the same as a 60 year old having child porn videos of 8 year olds. But you're lumping them together by saying it's gross to add nuance to the discussion and that "child porn sex assault" should be the end of it.

  6. Ok but saying child porn makes this sound way worse than it actually is would you not agree? While it is child porn in the legal sense there is a difference between this and what you would typically think of when you hear 'child porn'. As I've consistently stated, what Washington did was wrong make no mistake. But it all comes down to fitting the punishment for the crime.

  7. I can't wait until 2028 when President Ocasio-Cortez declares a national emergency and enacts the Green New Deal and all the conservatives are like, "Yep, that's what the president can do." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  9. So much this. Everyone wants to try to pick sides that he did or did not assault her. Maurice did or did not know that it was assault. The University and AD did or did not lie. Blah, blah, blah. Just let it be until all the facts come out and then MAYBE you will have enough information to make an informed decision what "side" to be on. The semantics and people trying to read into things in this whole situation are ridiculous.

  10. It's troubling because if they don't suppress it, it sets a legal precedent that future Presidents can then use. When Donald and his ilk are ejected from office, that is going to bite them in the a$$. But the misuse of those powers is setting up the office of President for being a jumping off point for totalitarianism as well, regardless of party affiliation. I guess the question is, what does the modern day GOP care for more--the future of Democracy and this country, or sucking at the financial teat of Putin and Russian oligarchs at the expense of our country's sovereignty and future?

  13. I don;t think any one has said he's facing the death penalty but I am somewhat appalled at some of the posters not taking this offense serious enough. Its been made clear he was not involved in the actual event but his decision to send that video (if what is being reported is accurate) is an incredible example of poor judgement by someone and I don't believe this can be just chalked up to age and a young person making a mistake. I'll also be very interested to see how the coaching staff handles this on top of any legal punishment. I'll be upfront in admitting I have no idea if Frost ran into any of these types of situations at UCF and how he responded but he has consistently preached the importance of leaders both on the field and off and molding young adults into people of character. From a distance, this situation reeks of someone with minimal regard to others and toes the line that some rules don't apply to all. Perhaps I am being too harsh and jumping to conclusions before all facts are known but on the surface I find this whole situation appalling and the act itself to be very disturbing.

  14. Can you imagine the kicking and screaming temper tantrum people on the right would be throwing if obama would have stolen money from the military for a bulls#!t project that wouldn't solve a problem

  15. To add to this. Usually on outdoor track lane 7 is a disadvantage but I have run my fastest times in lane 7 indoor because with the staggered start you only have 1/2 the curve first then later get another curve that isn't as sharp. I think Rahmir is going to be a sleeper on this team with his speed and quick acceleration.

  21. So is Rubio just going to issue this statement and then shrink away like he normally does, or is he going to finally grow a set of balls in the Senate and lead the way out of this mess?

  25. It is my understanding that Congress can undo a state of emergency with a veto proof resolution. Let’s see how this plays out on the right.

  26. They know what would happen if they lied during that first statement and that all the info would soon be present. What purpose would they have to even think about lying? At this point people are just reading too much into it to be drawing conclusions like this

  34. Aside from all of the other stupid $h!t Trump has said and done, I hope that this is what finally leads to a reckoning of some sort with Congress and the Courts. The Constitution quite explicitly sets up the separation of powers and checks & balances so a President, or anyone else, can't simply do whatever the hell they want. Up until now, many on the right have simply ignored their moral, ethical, and professional obligations to stand up to this a$$. Now, they will have a Constitutional obligation to get in the way.
