  1. Currently, Iowa is a rival. Just like Colorado was a rivalry in the late 80s to mid 90s. You may think Colorado was a forced rivalry, but that was a rivalry built on the 2 teams and fan bases hating each other, and the conference coming down to those games games each year. There is nothing wrong with having a similar rivalry with Iowa and their fan base.

  2. A Nebraska and Iowa rivalry is an interesting concept that hasn't been contemplated before. I'll have to ponder on the subject for a bit.

  3. Apparently someone finally talked some sense into him and let him know that he actually has to live in Lubbock when going to Texas Tech. Have any of y'all actually been to Lubbock?? It's Dante's 9 Circles of Hell bad. Lubbock sucks. *End scene*

  4. I think part of it was trying to figure out who was going to step up and really change games with good play, and then injuries wound up throwing it all out the window. Then at that point really nobody was playing good football except for Mo until we got our s*** together against Ohio State. There was a total lack of consistency from both a personnel and decision making standpoint at the position throughout roughly 10 of our 12 games. To your point, I'm hoping that fall camp leaves the starters at OLB clear as day, and I also hope those guys have been hitting their squats and cleans because frankly they got their a$$es handed to them consistently last year.

  6. I absolutely do not want to be where Iowa is as a program. That'd be quite disappointing if that was our ceiling.

  8. Iowa is even less of a rival than Colorado was. The difference between them is that Iowa has never been as good as early 90s Colorado, and Iowa's fans aren't as s#!tty as Colorado's.

  9. I don't get the thought of NU fans not "wanting" a rivalry with Iowa. "Rivalry games" are fun games for the team and fans to get excited about and mean a little more. If you want to have the opinion of "NU doesn't have a true rival" then do you get more excited for any games on the schedule, or do you look forward to certain games on the schedule? I know all the games are important, but more often than not, the Big Ten West is going to come down to games against Iowa and Wisconsin. When you add the hatred/dislike between fan bases and the results of the past few years, I don't think there is anything wrong with NU fans embracing a rivalry with Iowa. I get sick of NU fans having the opinion that "Iowa isn't worth having a rivalry with". I get it, Iowa hasn't done much on the national stage, but It's been a long time since Nebraska has either (as shown by Scratchtown's post). I know we all want NU to get back to national prominence, but let's start with getting back to prominence within our own division.

  10. I'm sorry but most of us hate Iowa. To me its a rival, not because of the current situation but embracing the longevity that it will be. It doesn't have to stay on Black Friday. Nebraska isn't changing conferences again so think about the schools you absolutely want to piss pound. That's Iowa, and Wisconsin in my opinion. I can't freaking stand either of these two schools. Minnesota, Purdue and the rest of the west division is so irrelevant to me. Kansas was more relevant to me. Since 2000 (Only current Power 5 + Notre Dame teams included =65) Wins Nebraska is 21st with 154 Iowa is 24th with 151 Conference Titles Nebraska has 0 Iowa has 2 BCS Bowls / New Years 6 Bowls (non playoff games or championship games) Nebraska has 0 Iowa has 3 (EDIT) National Championship Appearances Nebraska 1 (2001 season) Iowa 0 Neither has a Playoff appearance. Nebraska vs Iowa (Since 2000) (average score Neb 22 Iowa 28) 2000 - Nebraska 42 Iowa 13 2011 - Nebraska 20 Iowa 7 2012 - Nebraska 13 Iowa 7 2013 - Iowa 38 Nebraska 17 2014 - Nebraska 37 Iowa 34 (OT) 2015 - Iowa 28 Nebraska 20 2016 - Iowa 40 Nebraska 10 2017 - Iowa 56 Nebraska 14 2018 - Iowa 31 Nebraska 28

  11. Made a new ramp for our three-year-old doggo. Super proud of how it turned out! He was born with a disability that limits the use of one of his legs, and so we felt that the dog stairs he used to jump into the bed were going to be more challenging as he grew older. The Harry Potter reference wasn't planned initially, but as we were making cuts for the base board, we realized one of the major ones had to be precisely 9 and 3/4" which was sort of a funny little moment. So, we figured we'd add a little decoration to the side. Of course, he has NO freakin' clue what to do with it and is wondering what the heck we did with his stairs . He'll figure it out. He didn't understand the stairs at first either.

  12. They're no more our rival than any other B1G West team is. Well, I guess they're more our rival than Illinois. The Illini are more rivals for MAC teams.

  17. This is what Frost’s offense did last year vs Big Ten West opponents (yds per game). 582 518 482 659 606 400 UCF (2016) had conference high games of 400 and 402. Their all comps season average was 351. There really is no comparison.

  23. More on Dewitt's interview: https://247sports.com/Article/Nebraska-Huskers-2019-preview-outside-linebackers-Jovan-Dewitt-134060576/ I certainly hope SOMEBODY steps up at OLB. I don't care who, but we really need a lot more production at that position.

  24. He committed here but it was too late to sign a letter of intent. So he can still enroll anywhere he wants. He really wanted to play in the SEC but can't due to a rule forbidding online JUCO classes. So we grabbed him late but then he visited Texas Tech so now people think he might end up there instead. Not exactly the "south" that he supposedly wants to stay in but might be close enough. Apparently no one really knows until he shows up on a campus.

  28. Interesting list. I didn't LOL until I got to Terry Crews (not that his is necessarily the funniest) but he always makes me laugh. @GSG smartly took the homer pick so now it feels weird to go with Tom Osborne. So my pick is..... Will Smith

  29. The Nebraska and Iowa game doesn't mean anything. When Nebraska had Oklahoma as a rival, it was because the winner usually became the Big 12 champs and might play for a national championship. It ruined the year for the loser of that game. When both teams are relevant - decide the division and play for championships - They could become rivals. Iowa/Iowa State is a rival game. Michigan/Ohio State is a rival game. Wisconsin/Minnesota is a rival game. Nebraska really doesn't have any rivals. With Scott Frost coaching Nebraska to relevance - we just might find a rival in the Big Ten.

  32. Good point, swapped them and Purdue in my head for some reason. Brohm is really an incomplete too - looks like he'll be good, but he's only had two years in the Big Ten.

  35. Cali pumps out good players every year and I think it would be a mistake to abandon it but to B.E.'s point, I think it makes more sense to lockdown the midwest. Plus there's definitely something to be said about some of those players being soft. You're not typically gonna get a Hutmacher type of kid out of Cali.

  36. If it weren't for Martinez I could care less about recrutiing California. I'm honestly tired of the coaches wasting their time out there. IMO we need to be the best in the Midwest and the staff is doing a good job of that. I think we would have better success (and have) in the S/E than the softies out West.

  37. I agree. I fully understand that this is a huge decision for these kids. But, at some point, you just have to make a decision and go with it. When you are less than 10 days out from going to camp, it appears your focus isn't on being ready for camp when you still don't know where you're going to camp.
