  1. So I'm watching the Panthers vs Saints this afternoon and I continue to have the same thoughts I had all this season with the Huskers. The Saints hit a home run with Taysom Hill. IF 2AM wins the QB race for 2020, why not use Luke like the Saints to Taysom. Taysom is listed as 6'2/221 and Luke is listed as 6'2/200...They use him as a receiver, slot receiver, QB, wildcat QB, RB etc......He is a playmaker and makes things happen. Watching Luke in limited duty last season, he is a tough runner and took some hits. Another season of lifting and he gets bigger and more durable. IMHO, he is too dynamic to sit on the bench the entire season. Again, maybe 10-12 snaps per game in the positions mentioned above.....Give DC's something else to think about in that he might be a decoy, might get the direct snap, double pass etc......It's off season.....What can I say.

  2. I know a good QB is a significant difference maker for a team’s success. It’s very possible that Burrow could have gotten NU to 7-5, 8-4, or 9-3. However, I think you are mistaken on how badly Martinez played this year. You seem to focus only on the negatives Martinez brought in each game. Yes, he did struggle in games, but he also made significant positive plays in those same games. I think it’s laughable that you think Vedral would have done better than Martinez at QB. NU was 0-2 with Vedral at starter. Vedral made a back breaking mistake against Indiana, yet you give him the benefit of the doubt, and think he’s better than Martinez. You seem to have a personal agenda against Adrian, and your posts for the past number of weeks have had the same tone. You make wide, negative comments about the guy, and think he is the sole reason for NU’s struggles. Yes, Martinez could have played better in 2019, but the same could be said for the entire team. I don’t know if you are one of those small town Nebraskans who simply don’t like Martinez because of his last name or skin-tone, but you make it easy to make that assumption.

  3. I can't be the only one who sees the irony in this statement, can I? Someone lumping a group of people together and saying they don't like them because said people supposedly lump a group of people together and don't like them? How small a town in Nebraska does it have to be to qualify for this stigma, by the way?

  4. I think the frustration has less to do with how good Burrow is, and more to do with how bad Adrian is (now). At the time of Frosts decision it seemed to be the right one. But mentally Burrow is on a completely different level than Adrian right now. You cant blame his shoulder injury on his NON-THROWING shoulder past the halfway point in the season. If im honest, and not trying to spare someones feelings, AM is as off mentally as i have EVER seen a starting QB. You could heal all his injuries, put LSU's offensive line in front of him, give him LSU's receivers, and he STILL will not time the throws right, not see open guys, hesitate on his decisions, and often miss open receivers even when he DOES see them, including simple screen passes that will not hit the runner in stride. I dont know what the kid is going through, and its nothing about Character, but even with plenty of fans admitting how off Martinez was this entire year, overall i dont think most of our fan base on here at least realizes just how bad he was. It amazes me how many people will blame the OL, the Receivers, and the defense more than the QB, or blame injuries, some phantom sophmore slump theory, anything other than how mentally god aweful he was. Its just the truth. Someone mentioned how much of a difference 1 really good player makes. Especially at QB. With a healthy Vedral (a halfway decent QB) we are 7-5 this year instead of 5-7. With a Joe Burrow level QB (and dont tell me Adrian was much faster than burrow or could buy any more time than Burrow with his legs this year) even if he is not a supposed dual threat QB, we are 9-3 this year. Thats how much difference a very good QB vs a bad QB can make.

  5. I'm not trying to take anything away from Joe Burrow. But when you can just throw it up and let your receivers go get it, it makes things a ton easier. Same thing watching Notre Dame just lob it up to Claypool over and over again earlier today. Hopefully Manning and Betts can fill that role for us for the next few years and make our offense look a lot different.

  6. Question: If Martinez is hesitant throwing the ball on a pass play because all of the receivers are covered, is that.....bad?

  7. Imagine all the ineffective side to side passes they could dream up with two QBs in the game. I hope there is an honest QB competition for next year.

  9. Not only do I agree ... but I would think that this idea/though/concept would/could/should carry to Smothers as well. Heck, rather than create a QB controversy, it might do well to make AM and LM interchangeable more than a few set plays ... that is ... if the confidence of AM and/or a clear cut leader doesn't emerge. As well, AM night actually be very dangerous in the position you are suggesting for LM. Great off-season thought. Grateful to see another off-season to see if AM can really gain his confidence back. I expect that too happen ... but I am certainly wanting Luke to be more involved regardless, even with all the new WR and RB additions.

  10. The whole root for your conference is dumb. Ohio State winning a national championship does not help Nebraska at all. It just ensures that most recruits we are competing for are going to choose them over Nebraska.

  12. After this season I assume Frost is only wondering how we can figure him into a bubble screen.

  13. The swing pass doesn’t work very well when there is no deep threat to keep the defense deep and in the middle of the field. Iowa was playing their safety 5 yards from the LOS because they weren’t afraid of anyone burning them deep. That’s why they had success defending NU’s swing passes. Plus, they are a very good tackling team.

  16. Again, correlation vs causation. How is Ohio State playing 9 conference games plus Cincinnati that much more of an obstacle than Clemson playing 8 conference games plus Texas A&M and South Carolina? Other than the rest of Clemson's conference is garbage. The Big XII got selected for the playoff once in the first three years. Then they added a CCG (another obstacle) and has now made it the last three years. So the only direct evidence we have on that actually shows the opposite of that argument. That argument gets repeated a lot. But I don't think it really holds up. But if you say something often enough and loud enough....

  19. 5-7 in the Big isn't the same as 5-7 in the PAC. Nothing you will say will convince me otherwise. If you play better opponents then you are better than someone with the same record against a worse schedule plain and simple. We aren't depending on anyone. It isn't about depending on someone. It makes us look better if we play in the best conference plain and simple. 13-0 against a great schedule is better than 13-0 against cupcakes. A better conference helps you out no matter how good you are.

  20. I don’t want to depend on other teams to make Nebraska look better. I want Nebraska to do that on our own. I would prefer teams that we play don’t do as well. The better they play, the more likely better recruits go to those teams and not Nebraska.

  21. Wanting our conference to be the best conference is dumb? How so?

  22. For the most part, yes, the problem was the players who saw the field. But, it’s a numbers game. If you continually cull off the players at the bottom that will never see the field, then you cycle through more players to find the difference makers on the field. So, theoretically, you end up with more difference makers.

  24. Anyone else find it interesting in the halftime talk with both coaches they knew what happened in the first half on both sides of the ball. Frosts responses thru the season, "I don't know what happened I'll have to watch the tape". This is the difference between a coach who is engaged fully in the whole team compared to Frost who is paying attention to his offense, and letting his defensive coaches pay attention to the D. Head coaches are responsible for all aspects of the game

  25. Great post.....best on this board in a LONG time. As Nebraska lost itself, the game changed, the whole thing changed and we will continue to chase a phantom as what many Kool Aid drinkers on here want just doesn’t exist anymore.

  27. Did you guys miss the point that both teams are running a 3-4 and they are in the playoffs? One of those teams is holding Jalen Hurts to 14 points, 149 yards, 5-18 passing for 90 yards.

  28. Recruits want to play in competitive conferences. If your conference sucks that hurts your recruiting as well

  33. So we’re talking 25-35 5 stars each year and overall about 350-400 4 and 5 stars combined.. the fact that someone would think that these top tier kids and their family’s aren’t offered some sort of incentive is insane! I have ties to Salpointe Catholic in AZ. They pay families and/or offer housing so their kids can commute/ attend the private school. This school has produced many 3-5 star kids including 2020 5star rb bijan Robinson signed to Texas. He was recruited and paid as a middle schooler to attend this HS. So the thought that the top 350 kids nationwide aren’t offered something to play for a big time college program is absolutely insane. Doesn’t mean they all take it but there are 100% cash bribes, job offers to “work” and get paid way above average salary, relocation incentives, donations to family businesses, etc. Bag men doesn’t just mean these kids get bags of cash but the top kids are bribed in some fashion for sure

  34. A few sentences into the read, you find that this is applied to the $EC ... so your issue of 100% and 80% seems to be applied to ALL teams, which the article does not state ... this is his insight into the $EC. If this article is true, an interesting thought is what is happening with Clemson and all their 5* signings. They seem to be attracting the top recruits by being the best ... not through a bag man. At least, that is how it feels to me.

  36. Other than political leveraging, what was the purpose of an announcement!?! Again, "he didn't actually have to do them" (the investigations). With a straight face, you're saying Donald Trump cares about corruption!?! Is there any evidence of that? Narrator: no, none. Vindman, Williams, and Volker (off the top of my head, there may be even more) all testified that there was no credible evidence of this conspiracy theory. Don't you see the false equivalency? If not, that is exactly the willful ignorance I mentioned above. I am all for an good-faith political debate on the facts; you don't appear to be here for that.

  38. Nancy's got his number - whatever she does is because of the reaction it will get from him as well as what it means in the long game vs. the senate. We are so fortunate that she remained speaker. We'd be screwed if anybody else had stepped in, her experience has been incredibly important, and I think at her age she's dealt with a lot of difficult folks, she's manhandling him.
