I think I'm in the minority with this train of thought, but I don't necessarily view kids who transfer as quitters. They're adults who get to make decisions, just in the same way that if you have the chance at moving to a different job where the pay is the same but the opportunities far outweigh your current position's possibilities, nobody ever says you're a quitter in the workplace for moving to the other job. I think we just see it as "being a quitter" as emotional fans of our teams. That said, I don't believe Luke will unseat a healthy Martinez at any point. And that'll be fine for Luke, because he'll then have the opportunity to be a two-year starter of a good program with a lot of experience under his belt (as long as Smothers doesn't beat him out).

Seems like Frost is playing his cards in order to avoid another Gebbia situation. The chances seem high that Luke will be the starter by year's end.

Therefore, regardless of the "free year" this year, Luke will get two years of eligibility even after Martinez plays a hypothetical super senior fifth year...right? huskers.com lists Luke as a redshirt freshman.

I honestly think this team starts to turn a slight corner. But this year is sooo goofy, I dont know if that will equal to wins. Ohio State - L Wisconsin - L Northwestern - W Penn St. - L Illinois - W Iowa - L Purdue - W Minnesota - W 4-4 would be a success in my mind. You have to win the 3 games you can win/ NW, IL, PUr. Iowa/MN/WI could all be potential wins if our offense can be explosive. This could also very easily be a 1-7 season.

If it makes you feel better the odds you run into a cougar are next to none. I've lived in Montana and Wyoming my entire life and camp a ton and I think I've seen two off in the distance. Also, this cougar isn't stalking that guy it's likely a mother trying to scare him away from her babies hidden somewhere. If a cougar is stalking you, you'll never even know until it's too late.

I'll be honest Our D vs OSUs Offense scares the s#!t out of me. We haven't been particularly stout on defense since Frost arrived and this OSU offense has the chance to be a legit all time great offense. They have 3 offensive lineman on the 2021 top 100 draft prospect list, the other two starters happen to be 5 stars that aren't draft eligible. They have the #3 RB on the 2021 top 100 draft prospect list (his back up ran for 800 yds and 4 Td last year. They have a receiver that's top 50 on the 2021 NFL prospect list. And oh yeah, and they have a Heisman favorite and potential top 5 draft pick at QB. This isn't a shot at Nebraska, just saying this OSU team could hang 40+ on any team in the country. Let alone if we get them on a night they're clicking and we're working out some kinks...

Before signing day in February of 2019, I can guarantee you McCaffrey’s dad and trusted mentors advised him that Martinez would likely be a four year starter and that there was a decent chance he would only see significant game time if Adrian got hurt prior to him (Martinez) graduating. If Luke pouted and transferred because Frost didn’t give him the starting job at this point, I would genuinely point, laugh, and say “see ya.”
