  1. I think we can say you are a broken record. Seriously man, give it a rest. His job is on the line. Everyone knows that without you repeating how much he sucks for the 50th time. He will do his best to put the best guy under center. It will either be good enough or not.

  2. I’m guessing this blogger is somewhat well connected in football circles around Omaha and also to NU. He reported what he’s learned as the truth. I have no problem with that. And I’m pro-Frost. Sometimes it takes uncomfortable truths coming out to help spearhead change. At the end of the day, HCSF is making some changes to hopefully right the ship. I think he will.

  3. So what I hear people saying is that if Nebraska had won two more games, we could have been Rutgers. Ouch.

  4. I think one of the worst things that happened for Frost's development as a coach was UCF's perfect season. It was a great accomplishment, but it got him thinking that everything they did needed to be replicated exactly. One of those things was the pace of practice and just getting more reps in rather than fixing anything the same day. It's unfortunate that it's taken this long to adjust.

  5. I read this last night and decided to sleep on it. This morning I'm just lost. If what SSO is saying is true in his post, it points to a complete s#!t show of coaching on the offensive side of the ball. You wonder why it took so long to cut bait with some of those guys. You have players not being coached up with instant feedback but rather hoping mistakes will be addressed later, on film á la the Callahan years. That might work in the NFL but college kids are a different story. You have coaches not wanting to recruit even within the borders of Nebraska. How can a team that has the cards stacked against them in recruiting employee any coaches that aren't into, or aren't any good at, recruiting? Then you have coaches being buddy buddy with players. It's like a hodgepodge of the worst mistakes from our previous three or four coaches. Will this program ever figure it out? The alarming part is all this is was happening on Frost's watch. His calling card was supposed to be an offense that dominated while the defense held up long enough to get the offense the ball back. Instead it's been the other way around. It's just head scratching that Frost allowed this kind of "commitment" to the job to go on while his product was burning down all around him. He either couldn't see it or wouldn't address it. Either way it makes me wonder even more about all the little decisions we've all seen from Frost. For all the talk of fixing the culture in the locker room it's sounds like the culture in the coaching offices needed to also be addressed. Hopefully that happened this fall but is common sense learned or is it innate?

  6. Lol too easy. You can cut to the chase and be very rude Chick: "I'm thinking about being a vegetarian.." Me: "That's cool. Do you give head?" Plus winter ball in Puerto Rico was amazing

  7. I know you won't like this and you will argue it with links that no one clicks on...but if you want to go to college cheap, you can. In any state...period. I get people hate being wrong but you said before you admit when you are wrong, so you should be okay with it. I also get that you are trying to disprove every possible scenario and if I was in your posting shoes I would do that as well...but clearly you don't need to do that. Online (especially) education has changed EVERYTHING. And if these other countries that some of you love so much would just let...ANYONE take their classes for free...my gosh, just think!

  8. What, better to bury your head in the sand and pretend everything is A-OK in Huskerland? I appreciate someone trying to explain why in the hell, under HCSF's leadership, this program has sunk to one of the worst teams in the B1G that finished dead last in recruiting this year. We went from a pretty decent program under Bo, to a .500 program under Riley, to a bottom feeder under Frost. Yep, all is well.

  11. You think they feel really good about a true freshman coming off a major knee injury? They feel better about him than the guy who started our last game and would have won if not for another major special teams blunder? Im skeptical.

  12. The fact that we're talking about a 6-win season being "progress" just makes me even more depressed. So sad how far our standards have fallen.
    3 points
  13. These are two different things, which is what I said in my post. Six wins and a bowl game is undeniable progress. Now, that might not be that impressive for year five. But there is no possible way that can be construed as not progress. It is undeniably better than anything in the last five years.

  14. Logan is fine. His arm strength is fine. We throw quick short routes and medium routes. Reading the defense, timing throws, accuracy, wise decision making, and getting rid of the football quickly is the utmost importance of a QB to be efficient. Noodle arm (lol, ok), holding the ball to long, scrambling, bad decisions, taking sacks, fumbling, running to soon when you could have thrown the ball to an receiver, won't do much for the offense to be efficient. Noodle arm lol. Who says that after 1 game? Against a top 20 defense

  15. Yes and of course Yes. Center field during the 7th inning stretch is the greatest moment ever. Or at 3rd base. And Bus rides get exhausting very quickly. And you better know some spanish

  16. Yeah, or go the junior college route, get associate, then to a university. Or just get smart growing up. Both of my brother's kids got academic scholarships - 4 years full ride. The oldest daughter will graduate this year at Texas State with a nursing degree before she turns 22 in August. She already been working in hospital killing it $$$. Now considering TCU for her masters. The younger daughter is a 19yr old sophomore at Texas. She the smartest among the fam. Or be good in sports. I had lots of scholarship offers in baseball but signed pro out of HS when got drafted instead. After 7 years in the minors, having to retire from a bean ball, I eventually went to college. It took me 6 years to get my associates degree lol. But I was working and of course, financially set.

  17. Unfortunately, it's been that way for years for the majority of our fans. One thing I've learned is that our fans don't respond well to any sort of negativity or criticism of any kind. If you comment with even a hint of negativity, you're told that you're "not a true fan" and "maybe you should find another team to cheer for." For a while, I was the odd man out, the only one to voice any sort of warranted criticism. However, over the past year or two there have been many, many more who have started to speak up. I know the high standards this program once had and I'm not sorry for refusing to lower my expectations. It can't be rainbows and unicorns all the time, and the fan base needs to start realizing that. I have supported Frost to this point but it's time for him to s**t or get off the pot, so to speak.

  18. We're at the March level of the off season already where the 3rd & 4th stringers could do so much better than QB1.

  19. I get that, I do...I am 100% fine with it being free (so long as they do not drop and in fact raise profs pay). Hahaha! So I called about starting my PhD...and they were like...yeah you have to do this and that and this...and I was like "I will call you back" That was like 10 years ago!

  21. I would say that the things in that article line up with what we have seen and heard. The recruiting incompetence is probably the most alarming thing I read, and these changes are probably 2 years behind, but Frost is still learning on the job, and tbh I'm pretty encouraged that it seems Frost is willing to make tough decisions to right the ship. This is why I'm still pro Frost - because if he can get this thing headed the right direction, I do feel that he's going to keep adjusting till we're consistently competing for championships year in and year out.

  22. Yes he has. When a school claims it takes 20,000 per year to attend and you get out with anything anywhere close to 80,000 debt, you did something horribly wrong. so, that student couldn’t get a job while going to school? Summer jobs? My kids were responsible for all living expenses. They all got through under grad with no debt. So, if we weren’t helping them, their only debt would maybe be tuition. Several of us have shown ways to cut the debt way down.

  23. What type of person who has ties to the program writes anonymous blogs s#!tting on the program? I mean, whether they’re right or wrong about what they disseminate, just seems odd and another sign of dysfunction within an organization. Or it’s just full of s#!t.

  24. Over a 4 year span, Frost has one of the worst records in FBS football. Unsure of "in history", but not many kept after 4 losing seasons. 6 wins and a bowl should have been a 2-3 year benchmark. Not year 5. He should have been fired. The only thing I think that prevented that was Trev knew of the potential openings at big name programs and knew it'd be an arms race to hire a good coach, Trev did the renegotiation to save money and to allow Frost to actually see what he could do to either realize this will work or to make sure that not one single fan, regent, admn etc would be in his corner after another losing season. I still still see 5-7 as the best case scenario next year. But that's me. If his name wasn't Frost, he'd have already been gone. I do think that "wins" has nothing to do if Frost gets another year after 2022 or not. I'll be interested to see how it all plays out.

  25. Six wins isn’t our dream scenario but it is undeniable progress in the win column which I think we can all agree is the most important progress we want to see. Six is a higher number than anything else in the Frost era. Therefor it is progress. Moving on.

  27. This conversation started because I stated that I didn’t think the government should just forgive everyone’s student loans. Some disagreed and so I asked, how and why does someone even rack up huge debt going to college? If someone is concerned about paying it back, then figure out how to go to college without much debt. It’s possible.

  33. First, on-line school doesn’t add additional living expenses. Those expenses are already occurring whether someone goes to school or not. That’s different than moving on campus and incurring additional living expenses. Second, you don’t have to live in Kansas to get that on-line rate so yes it applies everywhere so it does address the issue.

  34. Will be interesting. Isnt Smothers dad a high school coach (specifically Logan's)? Is he the type of earn it coach\dad and asks Logan to stick it out or does he see Nebraska as failing and is already working to find his boy a new school

  36. If you want to make college expensive, you can. If you want to make it really cheap or affordable, you can. People have to be trying really hard to not accept that. Should it be free? Sure, why not, makes sense to me. But to think that you can't make it cheap on your own is insane. This is not the old days of grabbing a Barron's College Guide Book and trying to figure s#!t out on your own.

  37. I understand the ‘close’ of so many games this year and it has some merits but that same thing can probably be said about most coaches who lose jobs after perennial losing careers (we are certainly in a serious trend for Frost). To get to even a 65% career record he needs serious sustained success. He has several wins vs pathetic opponents (Fordam, Bethune Cookman, etc) that almost don’t mean much more that winning the spring game. But, he gave Michigan, OU good battles and that cannot be dismissed. As a lifelong diehard fan, I will pull for my team, win or lose, no matter who the coaches and players may be. I will also have my 50 years of experience watching many teams, coaches, players, schemes, levels etc. Husker football is still the best game for me and nothing else comes close. That said, I really want them to win and would prefer they do it in a tough, hard fought, never say die, fundamental first, blocking and tackling, good sportsmanlike way. I see some improvement in many of those areas, under Frost, but his scheme is the least entertaining offense, imo. I know I am in the minority, it seems, so I will defer to Trev and his directors. They are inside and seeing the day to day activities in the team. I like the players’ attitude (except the quitters), so that is a very very positive sign. GO BIG RED - Forever!

  38. But Frost declares he is VERY selective in his QB recruiting and R Torres is the right QB for next year. But we are (maybe anyway) still being very selective from the portal too. Ultimately Frost is Head Coach and decides who gets recruited and scholarships and who doesn’t. He decides who plays and where, when, why and how. He IS the Director in this movie. His job to be the closer. Once here, he’s in charge of the team and all things therein. He has everything including a massive new construction project to excite and attract new talent, fans who come and cheer, win or lose a lot, rain or shine, etc. And QB is the single most Frost managed/recruited spot clearly. Or mismanaged? Lots of not so successful guys have come & gone , early and often. Basically only one guy has played enough to honestly evaluate and could muster the team to wins against the weakest of opponents, a third of the time. Worst in 50 years! Is Frost not very good at selecting? Coaching? Relating? Recruiting? Managing? All of the above? He has a history with Milton but he wasn’t the QB’s HC. I think we can say that HCSF is not “the QB whisperer”.

  44. But I’ve just shown you how a high schooler can go to school debt free and you just blow it off like those options don’t exist. So many kids choose on-line school and live at home. So many kids also go to community college (for very cheap) the first two years and then off to a four year school (on line or in person). It doesn’t take affluent parents or taking on loads of debt. It takes smart personal choices. Think outside the box and just the traditional way of doing college in order to reduce the cost.
