  1. Was back home at my parents’ for my sister’s funeral this weekend in northeast NE. My nieces are bi-racial and one had her black boyfriend with her. The night before they were to bury their mother, a car with some high school aged (17-20 y.o.) drove by a MINIMUM of 6 times screaming the n-word at them. We did get plates and were actually even able to address them the next night because they were brazen enough to do it again. My dad, brother, cousins, myself were fuming! The sad part: my niece’s boyfriend actually acted like it wasn’t that big of deal. Not because he wasn’t mad, he said he’s “just used to it” because he’s lived in predominately white areas most of his life. He is 24 years old, he didn’t grow up in the “old days”… f#&%ed up!

  3. TCU? The 41st-most-watched team in the country in 2021? The seventh most watched team in the Big 12 last year? The team that averaged about 700,000 fewer viewers per game than Purdue? That TCU? https://medium.com/run-it-back-with-zach/which-college-football-programs-were-the-most-watched-in-2021-49ef4f315858

  4. I’m from a small town. I think abortion is killing a human but I think it’s worse to force a rape victim to carry her rapist’s child than to kill a human that hasn’t been born. I think the life of the mother is more important. I don’t like any of the extreme pro-life takes on abortion. E.g. giving a pre-teen only 6 weeks to understand what’s happening to her body or to decide how safe it is to tell an adult she’s pregnant when it was an adult that hurt her. I don’t think the government should be very involved in regulating abortion (I.e. making it illegal) other than maybe a few restrictions. Not every sin/“sin” needs to be governed. And there is no way in hell contraception should have regulations. I don’t like the extreme pro-choice takes either, e.g. people saying my body my choice and thinking it’s that simple. The people you are arguing with believe there is another human involved besides the mother. Stop pretending you don’t realize that. So I’m not pro-life politically I’m just pro-life in thinking it’s killing a human.

  5. What you just heard should be all the reason a person needs to know that certain weapons and high capacity mags need to be restricted and heavily regulated if not completely outlawed. Just picture yourself on a nice calm day with your family at a parade and then…….. 2nd Amendment rights mean very little if you or your loved ones can be gunned down that easily. Signed- An AR owner who would happily turn it in to not have this occur again and again and again.

  7. I get that, but would the B1G wanting a slice of the Texas market come as a huge shock to anyone? This after all is about money and adding 900k viewers you previously did not have probably is not a bad thing.

  11. Easiest way to improve our talent is to give the head coach the power to make coaching hiring and firing decisions for the state high school coaches. Put coaches in those positions that steer players to the program, not away from it. Then get the high schools running Nebraska's most often used plays and being taught the Nebraska defensive style and offensive line blocking methods. The population is not large so you need every in state kid being interested in going to the program and already have a basic understanding of the playboook and terminology.

  13. From a strictly personal standpoint it wouldn't bother me a bit if they added CU, KSU, KU & ISU and made them our core games so we could play them every year. I know it makes now sense in this only thing that matters is money world we live in but I grew up with the Big 8 and having those derivable games every year against old foes would be fun.

  15. I don't think so. I'd be willing to be they end up getting an invite somewhere in the grand scheme of it because of the Colorado base. There's no other university there that's even an option. I think Colorado is in a better position than Duke is.

  20. Cmdr. Chris O'Neill from the Highland Park Police said that law enforcement is still searching for the suspect. O'Neill provided the following description: "The suspect is currently described as a male White, approximately 18 to 20 years old, with longer black hair, a small build, and wearing a white or blue t-shirt," he said. O'Neill said a firearm has been recovered from the scene of the shooting. The police commander urged individuals in the area to shelter in place at this time.

  21. I mean ... there does seem to be a pretty obvious distinction between teams that seem to be pretty likely candidates to be added and a team that had to back-door their way into a P5 conference in the first place and no one is talking about making another move.

  22. I think divisions are out. Probably out everywhere. The three protected games seems to be the rage right now. But I'm not sure they work with that many teams. The idea is to protect the most important rivalries but still get to play everyone else every-other year. I guess you could still do 4-5-5-5 with four protected games then play the other 15 teams every three years. But that's basically a pods system. I actually think the pods you posted look pretty good. But I've been a fan of pods for awhile.

  25. Too many responses to cover everything…summary…. It sounds like people think oil companies like the Republicans better because Republican policies help the stock price and year end bonus versus the Democrat policies. Sounds reasonable. That means we might agree that Democrat policies do not favor the long term interests/profits of oil and gas companies. I would agree with this. Back to the original post. This is the second time Bezos has blasted Biden on Twitter for his actions and comments on inflation. This time he accused them of either not knowing economics or playing games. He seems concerned, and seems to think there are solutions the administration can implement to help. Maybe someone with Twitter should ask Bezos what those solutions are. Last I heard, Bezos was a Democrat.

  26. Scott Frost probably thought the same thing about the two dozen other WRs he's recruited out of high school to come to Nebraska, none of whom have made an impact, with the highest rated ones transferring. Our recruiting is frankly not good enough. Considering the resources put into this program and NIL money spent, it's been flat out embarrassing what they've accomplished recruiting out of high school last year and so far this season. The level of talent acquisition is a joke.

  30. Remember that this a decision by the university presidents, not the athletic directors. Stanford brings in a TON of grant and research money (something like $2 billion a year), which could end up bringing in more money for the Big Ten Academic Alliance (formerly the CIC) than the any other school brings in athletically (or not - I'm not sure of the value to the other schools in the BTAA), and Stanford is more prestigious academically than any of the B10 schools (despite what Michigan and few other schools might think).

  36. I hear VJJ may not be safe either. We'll also lose Manning and Martin after this year and depending on how the season goes for Palmer he may not be around long. 5 definitely isn't out of the question. Yeah the last successful recruited WRs were Morgan and Speilman. What makes it different this time is that Mickey's track record is much better than Walter's and Lubick's.

  40. In regards to the 14th amendment, I agree 100%. Unfortunately we lost that protection a few days ago. At least gun owners get to keep their guns. ps: I think a lot of women would welcome the chance to share why they had “abortions”. My wife would! I also think most gun owners could easily justify what guns they have and what they use them for.
