  1. Don't know why Campbell gets compared to Riley but doesn't get compared to Les Miles at Okie State or Saban at Michigan State.

  2. More disappointing revaluations coming out. Felt betrayed by Frost and other decisions need to be made about people who are "toxic down there". Mind boggling and can't comprehend they haven't been tackling in practice. As always, ST is measured, well spoken and a true Husker.

  3. From an OU fan that was at the game. Thoroughly enjoyed the first trip back to Lincoln in years, really wished it could have been a little better game, but OU fans know what bad football feels like from the dark years of the 90s. Most of us have a lot of respect for Nebraska, always enjoy winning in this rivalry, but hate seeing them so far down. Nebraska will get it figured out, the facilities and fanbase are top notch, no reason Nebraska can’t be a competitor in the big 10. Hope you guys win out

  4. There is absolutely no way Trev is losing his job next year unless he commits a crime on the job or there's a massive NCAA violation.

  5. Anyone still believe "Frost cared more than anyone!" just because he was from Nebraska? What you want to believe and what is true rarely line up.

  6. Matt Campbell is compared to Riley because Campbell has only been at Iowa State and hasn't won a Big 12 championship. Lance Liepold is just like Mike Riley because he's old (although I would prefer a coach a bit younger than Liepold, but it's not a huge strike against Liepold). I don't know who the next coach will be, and I don't even know if I have a strong opinion on anyone. All of the talk about Urban Meyer is giving me a headache. It's an unrealistic option, that fans want to hang onto and then just b!^@h and moan when it doesn't come true.

  7. Man... you fully went from "we NEED a splash big name bona fide all star head coach because we also NEED top 10 recruiting" to "I'd hire the G5 guy just so we can be weird and get the leftovers" in like 4 days

  8. Mike Riley was also trending down by the time he left Oregon State. Liepold won 6 DIII national championships, fastest in NCAA history to 100 wins regardless of level. Immediately improved Buffalo, who's trending down since he left, and has immediately improved the worst P5 program since he's stepped on their campus.

  9. kind of crazy he's still employed given that he only got the job from being scott's best friend and wasn't qualified at all.

  10. Davison neees to go. Hopefully, that will be done by Trev shortly after the season is done.

  13. I'm of the mind that outside of Trev, who has proven so far at least to be a professional, get everyone from the 90s away from the program outside of the nice little promotional stuff. Thank them for their contributions, obviously we will always appreciate what they did back then, but the program needs a hard reset and this sort of stuff is only holding the program back.

  14. OP, I hate to tell you, but we're easily the worst team in the Big Ten and one of the worst in the FBS.

  15. No one remembers or cares about your prediction. Weirdo.

  16. It's beginning to feel like getting Frost back was just an excuse for all the former Husker greats and former big timers to get together and have a huge party and not do anything remotely responsible or mature. It feels like they got back to their 20 year high school reunion dinner and just all agreed to stay and hang out for 5 years.

  17. Trev needs to hire a coach who can turn around the football program. Just because you may think it's an "underwhelming name" doesn't mean the hire won't end up being a good one.

  18. It has to happen or Trev loses his job next year. It falls on him so if it’s an underwhelming hire Trev seat gets hotter then the pit of a volcano

  19. I mean we lost to what looks to be a pretty terrible Northwestern team, you sure about that Clark?

  20. I understand Taylor's points on a lot of things except this one. Granted, this is a bad look for Frost but with the new coach I don't think I'm out of bounds when I say that....I don't really care about the input of players from 30+ years ago and I hope the new coach isn't forced to talk with them outside of an offseason golf thing (if that). Look, I get the argument that it's important to have the old guys tell about how things used to be to set the standard but guess what, that horse has left the barn, the barn has burned down and on the land where the barn stood, it's now a Whole Foods.

  21. Unfortunately it sounds like the cancer goes all the way to (some of) the Regents who knew of and permitted this stuff. Wonder if one of those cancers is actively politicking this fall...

  22. That seems like a really small pool to get recruits from...

  23. Why are some of you still talking about Urban? Trev is not going to hire him! Trev wants a drama-free, longer-term coach to firmly re-establish culture by leading and serving the players. Trev said he is not in a hurry and that he is more interested in getting the right guy. So, highly unlikely Trev takes a risk on Meyer, a 58 year old with heart issues whose best years are behind him and a family that does not want him coaching anymore to coach for a handful of years at most which gives Urban, and Trev, a short window for a "quick fix" after Trev stressed he is not going to rush things. Trev patiently waited to become AD and has probably thought about this decision for many years. He is not going to gamble this decision (i.e. Husker football), his job as AD and his reputation on a "quick fix" with baggage.

  24. He's been 'reassigned', he's no longer Associate AD for Football. Basically now he's only employed for radio broadcasts and fundraising.

  25. I have made it known that I don’t have a preferred coach. There are a number of coaches who think would make good candidates. I just don’t go around crapping on so many other candidates like you seem to be doing, and I don’t think Urban would have the automatic success at NU that you think he will.

  26. Mickey was named interim because he was given the associate head coach title to lure him here this offseason. I dont think trev really had a choice as to who would be interim when you're given that title before frosty was even canned. That being said, unless we land an urban or a stoops, id rather roll with mickey as HC and build out a staff of excellent recruiters with a long resume of success at P5 schools. Perhaps Mickey can get his brother to lead the defense and stack the coaching room with asst coaches with actual smarts and credibility. Above all else, id love to have a staff for a change that all know how to recruit because we f'n need it

  27. If we didn't suck at tackling, I wouldn't care. But, then how can you know if you suck or not if you don't do it? We didn't find out until it was too late in Dublin.

  28. I have a question for you. Do you truly believe this is "slander"? Additionally, since Scott has stated to multiple players that he wasn't being supported by them, do you believe that was also "slander"? Finally, was it the right call by Frost to not show up for that olayer gathering that both TO and Trev appeared at, alo g with many former players?
    4 points
  29. Slandering Frost, and anyone else associated with Nebraska Football, is a lot easier than trying to explain why this didn't work. The reality is most don't have a good explanation. I truly felt Frost cared and gave 100% effort for the first few years. I think he began to question things early last year- the stress of the situation really showed last year. He knew his time was up so likely checked out a bit towards the end. I frankly could care less and won't give any of these articles or videos a click to reward them. Here is to the next chapter - GBR

  31. Again, I don't have a strong opinion on one or two specific coaches, but I am trying to think about this realistically and pragmatically. Here would be my thoughts on what the next head coach should bring to the table: Experienced head coach with a track record of a winning program (not high on first-time head coaches who would be learning on the job) A head coach who is familiar with the Big Ten -- I know I make fun of the Big Ten teams plenty for their boring games and the lack of success outside of the conference, but the first step for NU to get back to a winning program, starts with having success in the Big Ten. I know NU fans have grand thoughts of competing nationally, but the first step is within the division and then conference A head coach who can recruit locally/regionally for the guys in the trenches, and then develop them. This goes in alignment with the previous thought, but there should be plenty of guys available in the 500-mile radius of Lincoln who can fit what needs to be successful offensive and defensive linemen. I have seen some people saying that NU needs to recruit nationally, and that is true to an extent. NU needs to build the program with regional talent and then go from there. We don't need Calibraska, or the Florida pipeline to be the base of the recruiting area, especially with free transfers now. A head coach who will hire a diverse staff with different skills and abilities. Having a stud recruiter (Mickey Joseph-type) or two who can go grab stud skill players from the South, Texas, or other areas known for speed. We have also seen head coaches who have brought a lot of their previous staff or friends to fill out the staff. I would hope that the next head coach would be trying to bring in the best group of assistants that he can find. I know some of them will probably have worked with the head coach in the past, but it shouldn't have to be a requirement A head coach who is going to own coaching the full team. I don't care if the guy will have offense or defense experience, but I don't want the coach to be calling the plays for the offense or defense. I want him to be the over-seer of the entire program, not just one side of the ball. A head coach who doesn't bring extra drama or concerns to the athletic department. Basically, I just want a guy who is going to be a professional, and not an embarrassment to the University

  32. My current thoughts from my post in the What did we learn - Okla Sooner game: I learned that one of our own did more damage to the Husker program and brand than Bo, Riley, or BC combined. I learned that this was just a money play for him, he took advantage of us and his undisciplined personal life and coaching was reflected in how the team was developed (wasn't ) and how it played on game day. We need to 'write off' the last 5 years as a lesson learned. Burn it down. Start completely over. I don't care if it is a slow moving turtle like Campbell who slowly builds culture and develops players or a big name like Urb who MIGHT be able to rebuild quickly by drawing in top players. Either way it is a total rebuild. It is doubtful that a big name like Urb wants to take on this mess. The next coach needs to rebuild culture, teach basic football fundamentals, motivate and develop. We will need to be patient with whoever it is. Frost kept saying that the 'rebuild' he inherited was worse than what we all knew. Wrong, he was given every advantage that one could hope for and he squandered it while raping the program and its fans. The more I hear about his 'junk' and the more I see how the current team plays, I hope he stays far away from Nebraska for some time. Frankly he reminds me of a certain former president. An opportunist plain and simple.

  33. Already have two 's to this statement. No surprise here. What makes me even bigger is that prior, your view was probably 9-3, 8-4 or 7-5 ... and now your number is probably 2-10, 3-9 or 4-8. Wow, what a swing for folks who were so confident and slamming others view of 5-7 at the beginning of the season. When we said that the OL was horrid ... you also . Actually, it was like ... . No one knows what the rest of the season will look like. Two weeks is a long ways away and Rutgers, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Minni, Wisky and Iowa seem to me like opportunities for Wins if MJ can resurrect this from the "Frost Effect". Sure, we may not win another game ... but Wow, what DOOM and GLOOM by "the greatest fans on earth". I'm going to believe that we can win 4 of 7 of those games and not changed my prediction. It's all a soap opera anymore ... so keep your 's coming. Go Big Red and hopefully we can do this together in however many Wins we earn!!

  35. Sadly Iowa is saying 'Nebraska's defense is so bad that if we...' This is what happens when a completely stoppable force (Iowa's offense) meets a very movable object (Husker defense).

  36. Urban Meyer is the same age. Does hiring anyone over 55 now feel like Mike Riley all over again? Just because of their age? Man, it's going to be a long few months until the new HC is announced.

  37. I suspect there's some folks who are slightly out of touch with what Nebraska football is in 2022 if they think we can just open up the checkbook and have top tier coaches fall at our feet. I also suspect maybe we should be thankful we still have the clout to lure coaches away from the likes of the Kansases or Iowa States, if we do indeed have that much clout.

  38. Some pretty harsh words from Taylor. Questioning Frost's integrity as a man, saying he betrayed the university and the program. Frost skipped Taylor's reunion with a bunch of former players who had previously felt disconnected from the program. Taylor says there are other toxic coaches (presuming Frost/Chinander are as well) that may need to be let go. The radio guys miss a huge opportunity by not asking Taylor who he means. Taylor says it's mind-boggling to him that they haven't been tackling in practice. He says he's been hearing things about the administration over the past five years that blow him away. Of course, he doesn't elaborate, and the hosts don't push him on that. Disappointing.

  39. We're only 3 games in to the season. Let's say Kansas finishes 5-7. Then what? He was 37-33 at Buffalo, with one 10-4 season where they didn't beat anyone of merit and lost 52-17 to Solich's Ohio team. Wouldn't call that "success." I'm not sold on him.

  43. I understand the allure of Urban Meyer, I really do. He's won at every college stop in his career, and he's done it quickly. Part of me would love to have that guarantee of a quick turnaround at NU, even if it's just for short time. I just don't think the situation at NU is a "quick fix" regardless of Urban's history, and the Nebraska job is nothing like Florida or Ohio State. I honestly think the odds of Urban being a big winner at NU is the same as him flaming out within 1-year. If I am Trev, and I'm looking to build a long-term program, I would look outside Urban. Petersen is an intriguing name, but his success was at West Coast schools, and who knows if he would want the grind of a program rebuild in an unfamiliar place.

  44. Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately not only did the game kind of make it a crumby day but I lost a little respect for the OU fans sitting by me, while they were nice people I found it very disrespectful to change the words of the national anthem to "HOME OF THE SOONERS". I can tell you the veterans sitting near me glared a hole threw them. Other then that and the game everything else was great

  47. National CFB writer Bruce Feldman: "From talking to coaches there you see how wildly disorganized the Scott Frost era was". Mickey gave the coaches a schedule after he started that said "6:30am - Arrival in Office" because coaches would be rolling into the facility at 6:59 for a 7:00 meeting. First clip is about the coaches schedule and not tackling. 2nd clip he says Frost missed a staff meeting in Ireland.
