So a walk on is leaving and a 4 year 2nd team All-Conference Defensive lineman is declaring for the draft and the sky is falling? I don’t see it.5 points
-
I mean ... he was second-team all-conference. In case you haven't noticed we haven't exactly had those guys growing on trees lately.5 points

These videos always crack me up. The music, the tear jerking "I don't get to see my family" bit...even though you can watch film from anywhere and pretty much every state has maximum hours you are allowed to practice. I could only imagine what thee "day in the life of a fireman" looks like.4 points

My hot take: These aren't hot takes. A hot take is unpopular because its provocative. Most of these takes are unpopular because they're uninteresting.4 points

Who are you talking to? I honestly don't remember a time when it wasn't okay to call the Taliban a$$h@!es. I've never met a single person who comes to their defense.3 points

Heinrich was terrible last year. All the way until he got hurt. Were you able to watch the games?3 points

Well about 21 of 24 days in the life of a fireman would show you that they are barely actually a fireman. Doing stuff around their house, yardwork, making extra money as a contractor….shopping for a new truck One used to live next door to us. First responder? More like never a responder because he only worked a few days a month.3 points

Not sure if this is good or bad but he apparently gets after it.3 points

This has worked out extremely well for McGuire - who is now the Head Coach at Texas Tech and just got an extension. If Wager works half as well it will be a great hire.3 points

Wisconsin loading up on another QB. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/tanner-mordecai-transfers-to-wisconsin-former-star-smu-qb-in-line-to-lead-offensive-revamp-under-luke-fickell/amp/2 points

Yea.. And if you had a chance to watch the games you’d know the two guys playing behind him are gone. So like him or not I’m guessing he’s the next best we have and it’s probably not particularly close.2 points

Texas High School coaches recruit. They just have to do it through unconventional means- similar to the way colleges are poaching players off of other teams. 90 hours is likely an exaggeration but 60-70 is probably the norm for the top schools coaches through a good portion of the year.2 points
-
Ok…..what does a hs coach do in 90 hours per week? I can maybe see it during the season. But, that’s 4 months out of the year? They don’t have to recruit year round like college. They don’t have to pour over hours of recruit video…etc. So, in March, or June….what are they doing then?2 points
-
Texas HS football is a ….different animal. IMO if you’re a HS football coach, working 90 hours a week, and hardly ever seeing your family, you’ve made some questionable choices and it’s probably not a good thing. I mean I’ll take the dedication but some perspective and risk/reward analysis would be helpful. I wonder what the ratio is of guys who parlay that into a bigger gig compared to all the lost family time.2 points

He absolutely was the most important guy to keep happy, glad they made him a priority. Reimer and Heinrich are 2a and 2b in my opinion.2 points

Ok. No punctuation made it confusing.2 points

I've been reading some OU boards. Man, there's a whole lot of copium being passed around, trying to rationalize their first losing season since John Blake in 1998. 0-5 in 1-score games, I saw one poster call Venables "Brent Frost".2 points

Yes, range extenders work. Slightly better is getting a mesh network; for example, the Google Wifi routers that I bought a few years ago.1 point

I have no idea but based in what I think I know about Texas High School football (and TX sports in general) I imagine they create crap to do year round to build and maintain their little dynasties. Played against some TX softball and volleyball teams when my daughter was doing the travel ball thing and the Texas teams and fans were just effin ridiculous. Not a healthy environment for the kids imo.1 point

I first read this as Michael Irving from Dallas TX and thought there's no way he's not going to Miami.1 point

Way to go Huskers! That's outstanding! It's a mystery to me how we beat or go neck and neck with some really good teams, but lay an egg against some not so great teams. We have some players on this team...I hope we can get some consistency the rest of the season. Regardless, they're a fun team to watch.1 point
-
Yes, but more likely then not they have family that stay behind, and they are sending money back to their home country for their family. Often that's US dollars.1 point
-
This is a really good point. I think one thing to also remember is that people in countries that "want it better" look for the solution that best helps them, so that usually means to leave.1 point

Is it possible, that the new staff sees something that we as fans do not?1 point

He’s going to buy the nicest place e he can find in the area. It’s not like he’s going to take the next 18 months to build something even bigger. And, seriously, what else do they need?1 point

Well the only way the Republican tent and voter base remains this large is because a clear majority of Republicans will roll their eyes and vote for the fraudsters simply as a means of maintaining power. Many sincerely believe deception and cheating is justified to prevent the greater danger of a socialist takeover. I could kinda sorta respect that if there was a populist fraud leading a mass of lemmings off a cliff, but the irony is that this describes Donald Trump moreso than any Marxist strawman.1 point

He legitimately said out loud on the record that he was proud of his handling of the 2020 season and if he had to do it over again wouldn't change a thing. Said this.....out loud....in front of people whom he knew would quote him..... That alone should be a fireable offense.1 point
