Harbaugh’s clock management didn’t cost Michigan any time, once TCU got the initial first down of that late possession. Whether he took the timeout immediately after TCU achieved the first down or waited like he did, there was always going to be 50-60 seconds left when TCU was punting the ball away.11 points

If anyone is judging defensive schemes from yesterday’s playoff games, then the top 4 teams in the country all have crappy defenses then.6 points

Harbaugh played it exactly right. Michigan has all 3 time outs if they get the 3rd down stop at 1:40. Much better situation than getting a 3rd down stop with no TOs and 2:45 on the clock. Harbaugh's onside kick was another well played gambit5 points

Jesus dude. Why do you get so nitpicky and s#!tty about stuff? It’s a conversation ffs. Am I on the stand here giving testimony. For the record your honor I could see him going late in the draft or being a contributor as an UDFA. As has been previously mentioned who the hell knows. Other than you of course. You know all. d!(k5 points

He actually saved them about 10 seconds not taking the TO when TCU got the 1st down. The clock stops there until the chains are set, so only 30ish seconds run off the clock.4 points

What? You seem very negative towards everything right now. So, are you upset we even hired Rhule?3 points

Barney Cotton got a bad rap. He probably had a lot more influence over the offense during the Pelini years than many would like to believe. Not to mention the offensive line has only gotten worse and worse and worse since he was railroaded out of the OL coach position.3 points
-
Of course he's not. Apparently he's not even a good enough football coach to barely improve an underachieving football team with an entire offseason to do it. Nobody is expecting miracles here. It's literally 2 more wins than last year. If Rhule considers bowling the minimum, then we should as well.3 points

I really hope you’re kidding. just in case you’re not…..uh simply stated, Frost can’t coach. That wasn’t going to change at NU. He can craft some impressive offensive plays, but the day to day CEO part was just too much for his abilities. Maybe some day he’ll figure out some things and work his way up to a good HC job again, but I’m not seeing it. He’s better suited as an OC IMO. We need a reset with Rhule and again, in my opinion, have no business expecting a bowl game in year 1.3 points

I like this hire more and more. I knew he was a builder, but he also is showing to be very good recruiter and has a very aggressive recruiting staff.2 points

It is difficult for me to comprehend how there are people adamantly opposed to this hire. I don't know what others experiences are. I've had people throw fits, sulk and be reluctant to communicating. It is just terrible...This "guy" doesn't know what he's doing. One convinced himself that Mickey Joseph was set up as part of a conspiracy. Matt Rhule is a good coach! And one that I think is a very good fit for us. Everyone has to prove himself of coarse. I don't know what it is, if it's that he lived on the east coast, they're not impressed with what he's accomplished or something else. It's a small minority. Maybe it's because they've made a financial contribution and deem themselves entitled to call the shots. He simply wasn't their guy. I think that if it were so upsetting of a coach being hired and I were that against him coaching here, I'd quietly excuse myself and move on elsewhere to what would bring me satisfaction. The vast majority of the fan base is at least encouraged by the hiring of coach Rhule. The doom and gloom and temper tantrums are silly. Laugh if it makes you feel better.2 points

The vaccine mandate was for particular occupations and traveling in confined spaces - activities that put many different people close together including those most susceptible to covid. Regardless, the problem is that covid is not just an individual risk/reward - if it was then I'd agree with you - but we live in a society and when individual freedoms intersect with societal freedoms then compromises must be made. Getting a vaccine is perhaps the easiest compromise of all time.2 points

My experience is that range extenders work a little, but can't overcome an outdated/bad router. Get a good router and you may not need the extenders.2 points

It’s coming to an end. Saban retiring soon, Bama as a program isn’t the same dominant force it was a few years ago. Georgia on a nice run but they too don’t feel the same as Bama did during the last decade.. the dawgs almost lost to an Ohio state team missing its whole receiver room, quite a few who will be playing on Sundays. Solid teams and best conference for sure but I feel like the sport is heading to a place of more contenders which is great2 points

I agree as our schedule is not daunting, but it's not the end of the world if he does not gets us there.2 points

I never said that and don't bring race into it. It has nothing to do with having faith in Rhule or not. Nebraska tends to play down to their opponents and just bc Colorado was really bad this year doesn't mean they will be next year. They might have their struggles during the season but since the game is in Boulder they will have home field advantage. Like I said before and I will say it again Nebraska has to take all their opponents serious.2 points

I know he is well respected as a high school coach and he does help us with recruiting down in Texas but how does he help teach high school tight ends to make them better overall? This isn't to downgrade the hire just trying to understand the hire bc usually you hire a experience coach for a specific position. Not saying he won't do good either bc he seems very driven to succeed and hungry but you could say that about all college coaches.2 points

While it might not take as long as some think, next season could be pretty rough for us.2 points

The absolute stupidity of this lying, ignorant, Narcissistic, megalomaniac, bottom dweller cannot be measured. He, and his mafioso thugs, belong behind bars for the rest of their lives.2 points

Because football lasts more than 1 year? Because it takes times to turn around a bad program and he's done that? Seems like a silly question. You really can't figure out what the point of firing Frost was?2 points

SF is still well regarded as an offensive mind. If/when he is ready to get back in, he will at a minimum lane a good OC job somewhere, of that I have no doubt.2 points

Winning high school coaches know what they are talking about. They do not just win because they get lucky. Yes, some have unbelievable talent, but you have to know what you are doing to win like he has. Rhule made this hire to get us into Texas with a guy who is well connected and he can coach Tight ends which is a good starting position for him for college ball. I wonder if he played or preferred to coach that position and he will also help out with special teams. Having two eyes on that is better than none like Nebraska had with Frost until year 5. I think this is a solid hire when you get a staff of 10 assistants and it helps that his son is coming here. Remember, Joey McGuire was hired by Rhule and is now a head coach. I will trust the guys he hires to the staff.1 point

Sure. But, in the grand scheme of things, they have always been meaningless other than one or two per year.1 point

This is in my opinion just a terrible take. We have been pushing the last narative for the last 20 years. Everyone who has coached here has been Vaguely competent at coaching football. And as far as the flashy black guy comment, Being black has nothing to do with this.1 point

Got to teach football players about clock management bc Georgia didn't even run the clock down and I believe scored to quickly against Ohio State. Ohio State has 43 seconds remaining to kick a field goal Got to love college football.1 point

@The Dude is right. If we can't make a bowl next year, what was the point of hiring Rhule? firing Frost?1 point

He wants to win long term, not just next year. You can't build a team long term via the portal, only supplement. You have to build from within, and that will take time. We aren't going to make a bowl next year, don't be expecting that.1 point

I never said they would show that. We already know they got millions from China and Saudi. I don’t need the returns for that. What I figured is that they would show he’s a pathetic businessman. Which, I was basically right.1 point

I think the good thing is that Rhule isn’t doing that. He’s using the portal, but it’s not his main strategy.1 point

First point is spot on. I honestly would expect an announcement in the next 2 months, if he's gonna come to N it benefits him to commit soon to better our odds at other top flight players who would take a look at us with a qb like that. On the callahan part, hard to say it never panned out- that class included a starting qb for a few years in zac taylor, a pretty filthy rb in marlon lucky, quite a few multi year starters and legit guys along the ol and dl, and this dude named suh who ended up being an all time unstoppable force and arguably the best defensive player in cfb history.... no a bad haul.....1 point

Ah okay, gotcha. Just a wild guess but I’m thinking the repubs are prob why they couldn’t get it passed. They seem to be opposed to anything healthcare related that might actually help somebody.1 point

I've thought about that. And, the only thing I can hope for is that the way practices were ran, didn't give linemen a chance to know what they were supposed to do. Maybe this and strength and conditioning were things that Raiola talked to Rhule about and why it didn't work last year. Maybe he had ideas on how to improve both areas that aligned with what Rhule wants.1 point

Taylor had a vintage Husker defense in 2010 - 9th in the nation in points allowed. We would have been Big XII champs if it wasn't for Mike Caputo stomping on his ankle in the A&M game. Then we would've played UCONN in the Fiesta Bowl - likely a 12-2 season.1 point
