1. TG was arranging practices for and with other players when there was NO head coach. The prior staff said he was always working and studying film. The current staff said he was always working and studying film. All the comments about "hearing" this and that negative thing about him now is junior high-level, sour-grapes BS and is an embarrassment to this fan base. 2. If you believe that TG is some combination of an entitled, lazy, spoiled, skinny, noodle arm and you don't care if the door hits him on the way out, then the fact that he was in a race down to the wire with a player seemingly tailor-made for Frost's offense means your expectations for this season are way too high. I don't care what they are, they are too high. 3. AM is the Huskers QB. Kickoff is Saturday. God speed & good health to AM and GBR.10 points

HOL guys really giving the impression that Gebbia didn't really have intentions to leave at first and that it was family that talked him into it. Which makes a lot of sense when you hear the coaches talking about how he took it really well at first and then seemed to have a completely different attitude the next day. Still can't really blame him for leaving. If he was going to leave he had to leave now.8 points

The day is upon us... If most of us are honest with ourselves, this feeling has been dormant for 3 years. The excitement, the passion, the anticipation, the nerves, the optimism, the pessimism, the wonder, the goosebumps and the cold tickle on the back of your neck when Nebraska begins their march towards the field for the first time in a year while 90,000 lose their collective minds. Yes we have endured some trying times. And many of us tried remaining calm as the fire engulfed what we once enjoyed. Today, August 31st 2018 is the last day of "The Calm". Tomorrow, is a new beginning. As fresh a start as a program of this caliber fallen on hard times can get. The hometown hero, the prodigy is officially home to right the wrongs and steer the ship back on course. A tall task for even the mightiest of men, but one met head on by what could truly be the next in a short list of whose who dynasty coaches. When Nebraska takes the field tomorrow night, lose your collective minds and get lost in the moment. Relish how good that feeling once again feels. Regardless of where you are, whether it be Memorial Stadium to your couch, remember those emotions that sweep over you. For those are once in a lifetime feelings. The obsession with college football, and the thrill we get from Nebraska playing aren't something to take lightly. Personally those feelings haven't been felt since the Fall of 2014. But tomorrow night the forecast reads "WARNING, FROST ADVISORY". Today is the last day of "The Calm", the final stage of being indifferent towards something we once felt perhaps overly passionate about. The future is here...7 points

I'm not a meteorologist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Seriously, I learned to read weather models and Forecast Discussions when I was actively chasing storms. Here is what the latest Forecast Discussion says about Saturday night: So, the feature you want to be looking at is the cold front location on Saturday, which is like a bulldozer pushing the less dense air ahead of it and causing lift that becomes convective storms. Models can only guess at the location, but the day of the event you need to watch the real conditions. I like to use the SPC Composite Map and click the box on the left showing the Fronts (it updates once an hour). The problem with the language is that they don't know if it is going to stall or sink south. Here is what where one model shows the cold front at game time. The models are showing a TON of gunpowder in the area and more SW of Lincoln (which could be bad because the storms will be moving SW to NE that day). The (possibly) good news is that the storms should be supercells. Forecast language will be for "isolated storms" which means territory between the cells. If you are in the path of a supercell, not so good with hail and high wind being the main threat tomorrow unless you are in the Grand Island to York areas. But if you are not in the direct path of a cell you may not see anything until later in the evening when the discreet supercells merge and become a big MCS (widespread storms/rain over a large area). There are lots of model runs to go between now and gametime. And there will be differences between models. Gametime is JUST becoming available on the HRRR shortrange model, which goes out 36 hrs on the twelves (Zulu time). I'll update this post with the simulated reflectivity of that model run when it gets to hour 36. The last run it was showing the convective line being well south of Lincoln. Let's hope that trend continues.6 points

Khaake, I am most likely not the right person to be discussing this with. 26 years in the Marine Corps, had my best friend from high school die in my arms in Vietnam. You have your oppinions and that is fine, that is what this country is about. But the trivial amount of time at a football event or any event paying respect to those that gave their lives, and their families affected by that loss is a very minimal. Let me be the first to apologize to you for the loss of those precious seconds you have suffered thru.5 points

I just want it to be fun. That's why the timing of this is so good, because the guys hit rock bottom and Frost comes in like some elf in a Christmas movie showing them the spirit of football.4 points

I may end up looking like a fool (wouldn't be the first time) but this feels like it's getting ready to explode....right out of the gates.4 points

That's a big statement. I do think Frost will do great things, but to put him in Saban territory before even coaching a single game here is premature and feels like someone looking to say something outlandish on a show.4 points

Do you see a difference between the military buying an advertisement during a game and the military paying teams to stage a homecoming of a soldier or paying a team $45,000 to sing God Bless America when the public doesn't know that those events were payed for or staged by the department of defense?4 points

40% higher? I'm going to need you to prove that one. Also, are you just lumping veterans who have become in some way disabled from their service in that group? EDIT: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics from 2017 Veteran unemployment is 3.7% and non-Veteran is 4.2%, meaning that it is 12% LOWER.4 points

However it is fine for popular products that tug at American heart strings (products owned by corporations that avoid paying taxes, outsource jobs, and intentionally deceive the public about their profits) to advertise everywhere during games. It isn't okay for the military to advertise by paying places to showcase what they can do for today's youth as far as paying for college and superior job training? Holy double standard, Batman.4 points

I love all the comments about Gebbia not having a strong arm but yet, Frost said one of Gebbia's best traits is his arm strength.4 points

'Scott Frost will be the greatest, most influential coaching hire in college football since Nick Saban was hired at Alabama," FOX Sports college football commentator Tim Brando said on Ferrall on the Bench.' https://cbssports.radio.com/articles/nebraskas-scott-frost-greatest-hire-nick-saban-alabama Quite a proclamation. If Frost weren't a native Nebraskan, would you still feel like he was a home run hire? I can't complain. The postive and free press might boost recruiting this year. Maybe a top 15 ranked class is around the corner?3 points

This will change, so don't treat this as Gospel, but the most recent run of the HRRR model shows that the radar would look like this. Starts at 5 PM on Saturday and ends at 11 PM. (Wanted to include the drive to/from Lincoln for those that need it.) The date stamp in the upper left should read Sun ... 00z = gametime (7 PM CDT) The good news is that the price of Akron game tickets may be dropping quickly.3 points

If he weren't a native Nebraskan that won a real national championship SEARS trophy, it wouldn't have nearly the same buzz around it. But take that factor out of it: -Coached QB and Offense during Oregon's best run -Took an 0-12 UCF team and made them 13-0 in 2 years -Was courted by multiple top coaching spots but chose Nebraska We would still all be pretty damn jazzed about it even if he never left Stanford.3 points

Remember he can't remember anything except for when he is coaching. I can't believe he is still talking.3 points

There is a major difference between politizing and honoring. The ones concerned about honoring are the target audience. I guess the ones that think it is politicizing can put their hands over their ears and put their heads down as not to be offended. Maybe memorial stadium can provide some safe spaces...3 points

Verdral and Neal followed Frost to NU. And I think a couple of players follow Pelini to Youngstown. I'm sure it happens all the time, and rightfully so, so unless something really shady took place then I'm not sure I care. But there are plenty of examples where students followed coaches to other programs without anything shady having taken place. I'll give them all the benefit of the doubt on this.3 points
