  1. Well, this 'We Suck "Megathread"'...sucks.

  2. Man.... I don't even care. If it takes Scott Frost 2 years to get a locker room full of kids who think and speak and act like Tre Neal... man, we're going to be alright. We'll be just fine.

  4. Whatever narrative fans concocted doesn't really matter. What matters is what the team does. Fans can (and should) change their narrative based off the information we have. Here's my narrative. It seems pretty plausible to me. After nine months of hard work and raised expectations, we stumbled out of the gate and then righted ourselves. Things were going well until the 2nd half when Colorado's coaching staff made some good adjustments, and it was a back-and-forth game. Martinez gets hurt, Bunch comes in cold from the bench, and the last-second win didn't happen. Just like with Riley, we start 0-1. And doubt seeps in. These players have had three head coaches in five years. Four defensive coordinators, three or four offensive coordinators. They're resilient but not made of stone. Then Troy comes in, experienced in giant-slaying, and they punch us in the mouth. We get sloppy with the ball and the O Line gets whipped, and boom! we're in another deficit. We try to claw back, but Troy is game enough to hold us off. 0-2, and all the feel-good stuff from the offseason is gone. Then we travel to Michigan, who's flat better than we are right now, and ONCE AGAIN we have a turnover, and all those doubts pile on again. Michigan's guys were clear - our guys didn't look like they wanted to be there after their first touchdown. We lost that game physically, but the blowout was due to losing the game mentally. So now we're 0-3, these guys aren't robots, and it's hard to go to work every day when your work doesn't seem to be paying off. We have a tough game coming up - a tough schedule - and a bowl game is looking harder and harder to achieve. That's not a bunch of excuses, it's a bunch of reasons why we're seeing what we're seeing.

  5. You know, if you're the guy setting the bar, you've got to be willing to jump over it yourself. Zero sympathy for this guy. Go prove you belong on the highest court and answer the questions you thought should be asked of the other guy.

  6. This is a silly thread. I mean we're young and looking to improve. Why focus so hard on the negative? It's one thing to discuss things that we need to work on and areas of weakness but damn people...relax.

  7. My senior year of high school, I took this AP Calculus class that was totally kicking my ass. I was a 4.0 student in HS, but halfway thru the year, I was barely pulling a C in the class and had even failed a couple quizzes for the first time in my life. My parents didn't want me to take the AP test at the end of the year, the first time they had ever expressed doubt about my academic ability. It was miserable. But at some point in the spring, my brain figured it out, and it was like a light switch had suddenly flipped. I aced the remaining work that year and crushed the AP test. Scott Frost has a bunch of nervous young kids in his Calculus class right now. But that light switch might get flipped any week now.

  8. Having 132 total yards of offense and giving up almost 500 yards on defense and saying that it was merely bad technique and missed assignments and physicality not at all being attributed is laughable.

  9. Nope. I just thought Riley deserved a chance. I gave him one for 2.2 seasons. There's really nothing laughable about this season, but there is something vaguely amusing about certain posters doing a 180 on Nebraska's talent level, the quality of our opposition, the single plays that could have won the game, and the patience required to turn this thing around. We're all in on Scott Frost. That's going to make this easier.. But there has been some goalpost moving to accommodate this unfortunate start.

  10. When your a home dog to a 1-3 Purdue team. That is a sad day

  11. Well, we'll find out this Friday when they play UCLA. *looks at UCLA football results* Okay...well, we'll find out next Saturday when they play Arizona State.

  12. People who bet on sports care about the line. Nebraska opening as a home underdog doesn't happen very often, opening as a home underdog to Purdue is an eclipse level event and It's definitely threadworthy. If betting on sports isn't your thing, that's cool, just realize there is a subset of the population that enjoys it.

  13. Here’s pretty much my thought on guys that are willing to leave the team because frost is head coach and Riley isn’t.... f#&% EM.

  15. I rarely create threads but wanted a discussion around this particular topic. Here we are again. Michigan blocked and executed well yesterday; I think they have to get credit there for sure. But here's their first play from scrimmage on offense: Yes, I realize that we edge blitzed and that it was a bit unlucky there because then there's one less guy in the flat for run support. But seriously...there's Dedrick Young again. Biting into a spot where nothing is happening. Looking flat-footed. And then just jogging towards the play (at first) when he thinks the guy is past him and that somebody else will make the tackle. Then he speeds up...but it's too late. This is pretty much the same formation that we were lined up in on Troy's last two plays where not having three linebackers between the hashes is risky. So they found this play that just zips through the B gap. And then they did it over and over and humiliated us with it. I've asked this question of anyone that will listen now for 5+ seasons - Why can't we look at the film of what every other team in the top half of the conference does on defense to stop the run and emulate that? When I watch Purdue, for example, I see a team who coaches their linebackers to stay in position in the center of the field. This is a run-centric conference, after all. And Michigan is a run-first, hit-you-with-play-action team. I don't claim to know more than Chinander and Frost about drawing up a defense. But I can watch the film and see what's happening. If we don't do something different against Wisconsin, they will do the same thing. This is partially a scheme issue and not just an effort issue (but there are some guys on defense where effort is a problem).

  16. This soul crushing heartache and yearning, it’s going to be so worth it as this thing starts to turn around and then takes off. It’s going to be every bit as exhilarating as the mid 90’s. It might not ever be as flat out successful, but being in the wagon as it starts to ascend will be something we will be able to be unbelievably proud of. Our boys, our state, our coach, our team. It’ll start slow, and there will be moments of happiness combined with setbacks and more heartbreaks. But the good moments will start happening more and more and the heartaches less and less. And eventually, we will look out at the field again and find ourselves waiting to see what our team will do next instead of worrying about how many ways they can choke it away. Being a fan right now kind of sucks, it’s been a long decade, but maybe it’s the best time to be a fan? This is going to be fun.

  17. Update per 24/7 on his Alabama update : It's us and Alabama at the top of the list. Frost and Held continue to talk to him and he is considering visiting Kentucky or Ohio State for his last official. He plans to commit sometime during the middle of October.

  18. I am 1000% percent in on Frost and willing to go 7 years for him to show a good turnaround. At the same time, I'm removed enough to see a bit of irony in the fact that Frost and his secondary mentor (T.O. being first) are both 0-3 so far this year. Neither uses a fullback. So we need to bring Frank back for a celebration, bring back the fullback (at least one trap play per game) and sacrifice a chicken. Then we'll be right as rain. Or we just wait for the turnaround to take hold.

  19. Holy crap you can't be serious right now.... Did We Fire (pick favorite coach) too soon? This can't refer to Scott Frost because he hasn't been fired, THEREFORE this thread has ZERO to do with him. (pick favorite coach) pretty obviously refers to the 4 former coaches we fired before Frost, ie. pick your favorite of the 4 we fired. Please tell me you understand this now

  20. Some of the quotes from Frost today really don't sit too well and are scary. "we aren't that far off" "the film wasn't as bad as it looked." Dude you got absolutely bullied. That team would have ran the ball and sacked the qb blindfolded. And for the love, please stop selecting Lamar Jackson for interviews.

  25. The bold - at this rate it is doubtful we make it to a bowl game unless there is a huge attitude adjustment. Thus we won't have all of those bowl game practices and that extra game. Now is the time to prepare for next year. Get the younger guys in and give them real game experience. If they are hungry in practice then give them game time. If TL, Speilman aren't performing, then give others a chance. Remove the poor performing seniors from the OL and let that be their legacy if that is their choice. Get RSF and 2 year players in there and prepare them. Next year the schedule is much better so lets be prepared to take advantage of the schedule.

  26. It is not so much "caring" it is an observation and a depressing one. Sadly it will shock very few of us if Purdue wins...think about that...think how far this program has fallen. It is amazing.

  28. It's not a hindsight thing; if we hired Frost in 2014, it would be built purely on emotion with little in terms of tangible achievement on his part. We got him at exactly the right time in his career.

  29. Isn't that what I said? We've kind of struggled in the football department for quite awhile. But yeah, when the team is playing well, it can get pretty loud and the crowd can start on a feeding frenzy. I will say though, my ears have literally hurt at old Mile High and at UDub. I've never had that happen at Memorial Stadium even when we were playing well.

  30. So in 2 years when we are 4-0 and ranked in the top 10 at this time I want to look back on this thread and laugh at anyone who doubted the direction we were headed.

  31. I think the biggest difference in why most are profoundly less concerned about Frost is simple...... His resume' and credentials are greatly superior to Riley's.

  34. Intellectual honesty? It's called a metaphor my guy. Specifically in this instance, it's a metaphor for race-based inequality, since the quote is in regards to Wall Street and rolling back financial regulations. In fact, the article even says that. If you actually think (I'm getting the feeling that you're just a troll) that this had anything at all to do with a message that Republicans want to bring back slavery, plantations and segregation... well, I gave you way more credit than you deserve.

  36. Statistically, the favorite wins greater than 51% of the time. It's the odds of that team winning. So logically, it's relevant when discussing the odds of your team winning the game.

  37. It's been stated before, but I saw an interesting tweet this weekend: Redshirt seniors are on their 3rd HC. Some players are on their 3rd, 4th, maybe even 5th position coaches. There needs to be a ton of work done to build trust and develop relationships just inbetween players and coaches. Yes, we're almost a year into the new staff, but it takes time. Until then, it's not going to matter the name on the helmet, no matter who we play.

  41. Frost is overhyped in your view? Unbelievable. This staff is 3 fricking games into their first season. How about you dial it back a tad? Yeah the results we have seen thus far are not ideal--in fact they are the opposite of ideal. But we need to sit back and just let this process work. Frost and these coaches took an 0-12 team to 6-6 then 13-0...they didn't suddenly become stupid and incompetent overnight. Were going to take some lumps this year. Things are probably going to get worse before they get better. I dunno, maybe take some Prozac if you can't handle it.

  42. A big part of UCF's 13-0 season in my opinion was McKenzie Milton. And Frost & Verduzco get all of the credit for not only bringing him in but developing his talent. He finished 8th in the Heisman voting last year. I think Adrian Martinez is that guy and that's one of the big reasons I'm preemptively excited about where our program is heading. Add Maurice Washington to that list, too.

  43. This is such a load of horse s#!t. Tell that to Noah Fant or Harrison Phillips. You mean to tell me those two wouldn't have pulled others up if we'd have gotten them? Guys like Cam Jurgens and Nick Henrich will start this again. Frost won't miss on these guys. I can't believe he got both Burke kids, I can tell you that was an UN-FRICKING-BELIEVABLE recruiting job. Nebraska was so far behind it was laughable to bring them up before Frost and Ruud came on board.

  44. It's time to stop trying to find a panacea or place blame on someone or something. They aren't good. Bear Bryant could coach this group and it would be a similar result. Day by day. It's in the prayer and all over their shirts this year. The most frustrating thing is the team seems to be looking left and right for a fix when it is within them to fix it. Let's beat Purdue for our biggest win since Michigan State. May seem silly but that's what it is. One step at a time. GBR.

  45. It is actually amazing....it only took 3 years for Riley to take us from a consistent 9 win team to absolute trash with a complete lack of any type of winning culture. People can say Riley took over a toxic situation....no he didnt. Those players still fought and wanted to win some damn games. Frost is taking over a team that gets soft served ice cream after a loss.

  46. I've always wondered about this. What do we do if the Trump presidency really isn't legitimate? I disagree with some here. If Trump and Russians rigged the election in Trumps favor, annulment would be the right and only course of action imo. It won't happen, but to me it doesn't make sense to put Pence or anyone from the Trump team in charge if the Trump administration was unconstitutionally elected. Allowing Trump and the GOP to essentially get away with rigging the election by keeping the Trump administration in power would set bad precedent God forbid something like this would ever happen again.
