  1. Don’t go chasing Wan’dale falls, please stick to the Toure’s and the Omar’s you’re used to. I know you’re that you’re gonna have it Wan’dale or nothin at all, Betts I think you’re Martin too fast.

  2. Nebraska55fan: We should do this! Mavric: We did do that this year. Nebraska55fan: Oh, so you're on board doing exactly what we've been doing and obviously disagree with me about a totally separate special teams suggestion! Just stop dude. We all agree the special teams sucks, and has sucked for Frost's tenure. Many people agree with you that we should have a dedicated special teams coach. But most people, when informed that their idea had actually already been implemented would say something like "well I'm glad they are at least trying some new things, but given the results I still think a dedicated coach and other steps are needed." Not flip out at the person pointing out that we've been doing the practice suggestion and accusing them of not being on board with any special teams changes.

  3. 247 Sports - Spartan Nation I think this is going to be a battle. I do. I think this one's going to be a big one, but I am not a person that looks down on Scott Frost. I know things are difficult, I know it's not gone as smoothly as everyone wants, but I think you saw a lot from them with that Oklahoma fight and with the absolute best environment and college football being what Nebraska is. I think at the end of the day on a last-second field goal, the Huskers win. Nebraska 20 - MSU 17 i think he is trolling us

  5. I like to remember JD Spielman as the guy who was about to hold every receiving record at Nebraska, an absolutely clutch possession receiver who took massive hits on poorly thrown balls, and sometimes seemed to keep Nebraska in the game by himself. Whatever mental health issues he has now, he had then. I take zero comfort that he's not succeeding elsewhere. Wandale is succeeding because Kentucky is using him almost exclusively as a receiver, and not pretending he's also a traditional running back. He's an exciting player, but Frost was treating Wandale as the offense's only legitimate threat, and that wasn't good for Wandale or the offense. Wandale could still be thriving on a Nebraska team with more traditional wide receivers like Toure and Manning by giving him the role he was born to play -- wingback. Like Bobby Newcombe and Johnny Rodgers. Like Kentucky is doing.

  7. As far as the O-line situation goes, I'm gonna copy & paste this post I saw elsewhere, because it seems to make a lot of sense. Basically, it's a domino effect of a couple guys going down/not being 100%, and a lack of depth. Arguably, the biggest takeaway is that we should've hit up the transfer portal for some experienced guys to add some depth to handle this sort of situation.

  8. 2021 Game 5 “Expert” Picks: Nebraska @ Michigan State (-5) ————— CollegeFootballNews.com Why Nebraska Will Win Really … has Michigan State beaten anyone who’s any good? It’s an underground hipster theory about Alabama’s win over Miami to start the season – Miami might not be any good. Bama is obviously amazing, but it might not be Alabama like everyone thinks it is, at least based off that win. Michigan State beat the Canes. It also beat a bad Northwestern team and Youngstown State … oooooooh. The Huskers aren’t playing all that poorly. The Illinois game looks more and more like a loss that would’ve been avoided if the Fordham game came first to work out some of the kinks, and the 23-16 loss at Oklahoma might have been – relatively speaking – among the best games yet under Scott Frost. Why Michigan State Will Win The balance on the Spartan offense has been almost perfect – 791 rushing yards, 769 yards through the air. It’s finding ways to move the ball as needed, it worked out the passing game timing against Youngstown State, and it’s been able to run well in all three games so far. The O has been better than expected, and the defense has been a rock so far against the run. Nebraska’s Adrian Martinez is throwing well, and he leads the way in rushing, but the MSU D will take its chances with the ball in the air. As long as Martinez isn’t hitting the big home run with his legs, the Spartans should be okay. What’s Going To Happen Nebraska is playing better overall lately, but Michigan State is just too sharp, too balanced, and playing with too much confidence in all phases. Like the Oklahoma game, the Huskers will hang around and make it competitive, but they’ll come up just short when the chances are there to take over the momentum. Michigan State won’t exactly break it open late, but they’ll get the big fourth quarter drive to put it away. The Huskers are 9-2 all time against the Spartans, but we're trusting the better team. I think Vegas has it right in this one, with MSU a five-point favorite over the Huskers. It’s not that Nebraska can’t cause MSU some problems. But if you’ve watched these teams play through the first few weeks of the season, and trust your eyes, there’s no way you’re picking Nebraska. The Spartans have been balanced, dynamic, disciplined and dangerous offensively. The Huskers have lacked that discipline and efficiency. If these two teams are who they’ve been, the Spartans should win. MSU 31 - Nebraska 21 ————— Husker Extra This line started at a field goal and moved up quickly to five. What do the sharps know? I think I like Nebraska here in a close win, for once. Tough MSU crowd to deal with though. Nebraska 24 - MSU 21 —————

  11. They are not bigger- Michigan's average weight per their 2 deep of both lines is 306.5. Nebraska's is 306. Nebraska has a clear size advantage at the receiver and tight end position. We are not giving up size to Michigan. Stronger?? No way to measure this objectively. Michigan had serious depth issues coming into the season along the lines and brought in transfers to help fill the holes. Yes, their backups have more stars by their names but most are unproven. The last time we played, both teams were completely different. Our last game against them was in week 3 of Scott's first year. Martinez was hurt but played about half the game. We had Bunch under center... this is the week after we lost to Troy. If you can go watch the Troy game and then any of our last three games and tell me we aren't a different team, you are crazy. Michigan was also a vastly different team. They won 10 games with their only conference loss to Ohio State. Minnesota is a good football team. They might beat us again... but it isn't a guarantee and they definitely are not a superior team in measurables. They have played cleaner football and have better special teams. Those two areas will likely be the deciding factor in our matchup. If we play clean, frankly we are a better team and should win 8 out of 10 times. It's almost as if you haven't seen Nebraska recently. We have big linemen, huge receivers, and have dramatically increased strength and conditioning. If our special teams was good this year, we would likely be a top 15 team sitting at 4-0.

  13. This game tells us whether or not we learned anything from the Illinois loss and the close fight against Oklahoma. It's a huge game with bigger implications than just the results on the field. With all that seems to be on the line with this game, I am very much looking forward to an emotionally invested Saturday night.

  14. What I've been wondering lately is if this is Held's strategy for player development. You make it clear that anybody can get the lion's share of carries any week, and the guy who works the hardest gets it. It actually potentially works if it really does motivate each guy to give 100% during practice. The fans don't like it because it gives off the appearance that the staff is fickle and doesn't know what they're doing. But for example, what if Johnson's max potential is tapped through this strategy and he shoots through the stratosphere this season because of it? Would be pretty awesome, IMO. The staff isn't stupid; I think this is all mainly a byproduct of having four guys that are roughly on the same level.

  15. I feel like our defense gets relatively little talk on this board and elsewhere. I think the reason for that is because losing to Illinois (understandably) skews the fan base's perception of how good our team actually is this year so far. But think about it: Our defense only gave up 21 points to Oklahoma. And our defense only gave up 21 against Illinois. The two losses we've had occurred because of mistakes we made offensively: -Against Illinois: Missed some throws, missed some blocks, committed some dumb penalties. -Against Oklahoma: Really mainly just missed three kicks. We are close. Close doesn't count, but it's still a true statement - we are close.

  17. I’m glad they are releasing the full audit report or at least they better. And if it shows/showed Biden won by the original or close to the original margin, that should be touted many times over the coming weeks as confirmation the election was held fairly according to the rules set in place at the time.

  18. I think the Huskers will play well enough to win by a couple scores, but turnovers and home night game will keep the game even. Special teams cost Huskers the game in the 4th in a close one. A faction of Husker fans would find a way to complain about an upset over tOSU. Nothing but winning the B1G will get Frost off the hot seat. I think Frost has got at least one more season though unless we lose the rest of our games.

  23. The conundrum with looking at this stat is that MSU greatly affects that stat since everyone has played so few games. So, we still don't know really if MSU's running game is absolutely amazing, or are these run defenses really just that bad? I'm sure MSU's running game is good. It can't be taken lightly and the Huskers have their work cut out for them to contain/slow down that RB. But, by the end of the year, these defenses might not look quite this bad and MSU might not look quite this good at running the ball.

  26. Since my new(er) job doesn't really require a lot facetime or phone calls I've been listening to some podcasts while I work. Thought I'd share some that I like and see if anyone else has any they would recommend. One of the more popular podcasts in all of podcast-world, Crime Junkie. Basically it's two women who re-tell solved/unsovled/strange true crime stories. Listened to this episode yesterday and it was bananas: This one is kinda cool even though it's old. It's a limited series. They tried to make a TV version of it starring Jessica Biel and Stanley Tucci. I haven't finished it yet, but it's the story of a journalist investigating the disappearance of over 300 people at neuroscience research facility in Tennessee. This one is pretty weird. You can listen to any episode in any order, it doesn't matter. The show is basically a weird/funny radio show for a fictional town called Night Vale, with reports on the strange happenings around town. Really hoping they continue stuff like this next one: This is Strawberry Spring, which is a short story by Stephen King that they turned into a scripted radio show starring a few known actors: If there's interest, I'll pop some more in the thread tomorrow.

  30. This is true, and very frustrating since we always play you late in the year. How has Potts been doing with Ibrahim out? I see he's getting his yards, but there was a massive drop off when Ibrahim was out against OSU - which is to be expected, Ibrahim is a stud. But he was by far the scariest guy on the team, and if Potts is only decent instead of very good that makes life tougher for Morgan.

  31. Yeah I think that's the errors in the draft that the County mentioned in their tweet. Basically people don't understand how each state handles their own voting processes, and have done for decades, and when you're determined to see ghosts, you're gonna see them, even when it's just your own fart cloud. I hate when that happens.

  34. Similar to Penn State, I think last year affected them more than most for some reason. They have more talent than anyone not named OSU in the Big Ten, and seem to have finally found an offensive identity. I don't think they're a top 10 team, but top 20 seems like a safe bet. We'll really only know more about their offense when they play Wisconsin the week before us though.

  36. I'm rooting for the signature win, for all the talent to step up, to build on the confidence we saw against Oklahoma. It's more than possible. But gun to my head? Betting my own money? I've had my hopes dashed too many times. There's a good chance Michigan State learned more from the Oklahoma game than we did. Also it's a home game, where weirdly enough we seem to do worse. Competitive in spurts, but MSU by 17.

  37. I don't know who's going to win and by how much. Neither do you. Probabilities say we'll lose. By how much is up for grabs because we've had small point losses and we've been routed. If we win this game, after coming close to beating the #3 team in the country, heck yeah it'll make us all feel more positive about SF. "Take the heat off?" For now, yeah. But there are a lot more games to play and we're very used to seeing disappointment played out.

  39. Well you're wrong again. Most players who transfer to lower levels of competition- IF they were legit Power 5 kids- one would think they would START ahead of the lesser competition that are on their teams right? Most aren't- they aren't even starting. Those playing often times are playing in leagues where the teams are playing against LESSER competition than Power 5- one would think if they were legit Power 5 kids, they would do well. The facts are MOST of them aren't. Most of the thread I started posts are just discussing where the kids that left NU went- not some debate. Sorry- got to run, heading to the game and where I'm from it's rude to be on your phone when you're with your friends.

  42. I think it's more of a "grass isn't always greener" illustration. Three of those guys aren't even on rosters right now. Seemed like they were looking for something better and haven't found it. Fleming seemingly left because he didn't think he was playing enough. He had 5 catches for 75 yards through three games for us. Then he didn't get much time in the fourth game and left. Now he's done significantly less than that.

  43. I agree with everything you're saying but steal one game later on? Up until now Scott Frost at Nebraska is - 1-2 vs Northwestern - 1-2 vs Purdue - 1-2 vs Minnesota - never beaten a ranked team We're playing those 3 teams and 5 ranked other ones. Every win after Buffalo on is at some level a steal. Not saying we can't, but to get a bowl game at this point is going to require bucking trends. Our back is very much against the wall right now.
