.I just got yelled at for helping with the wash. Evidently, they make wash rags that you aren't supposed to wash in the laundry. It was a freaking "sitcom" moment. (except no one was laughing). I'm still shaking my head....

I'm okay if you think Bo's attitude caused his firing. But can we please quit with the "Pelini teams quit" narrative?

MOV does not always equate to the effort of the team, or lack there of. Nebraska lost to Purdue last year by 10 points, but that game more than any of the Riley tenure is an example of a team giving up (with the exception of a few players like Westerkamp).
The same can be said for games in the Pelini tenure. The most obvious was the B1G Championship game, where you could see players no longer believing in the game plan and playing for themselves.
-
Whatever your point is, funhusker, Bo's got fired for his conduct, both what we saw as fans and the culture that was created in the program that we didn't (first), and his ability to win championships (second). I think Bo could have won championships at Nebraska, his teams played for one almost every other year, but they didn't. Like a bad relationship, there is a moment where breaking up is the best option for all parties involved.

Has anyone here ever got sent to collections for driving on "E470" by Denver? Received a notice in the mail today from a law firm for collection. We were in Denver over New Year's, but never recall seeing a "toll" road...

I understand why kids shouldn't call eachother stupid: growing bodies, growing minds, adjusting to the world, etc. But there comes a time when we are what we are as adults. So, shouldn't it be perfectly acceptable to call another adult "stupid" when in fact they are just "stupid"?

Good point, @Comfortably Numb. I think it is ironic that the election is in 2020. Hopefully, we, as a country, have enough hindsight to not make the same mistake twice.

Just saw a Frost interview where it was stated 20 non-seniors have left since he was hired in December. I don't doubt, but it seems high. Is there a list somewhere???

@tmfr15hell no. Case-in-point: Penn State.
You have the right coach, can get the right recruits, and install the right culture and program, you can rebound quickly. Plus it's not like other successful coaches haven't encountered a mass exodus before and rebounded quickly.
But with 20 scholarships to play with, here's hoping we spread some love to walk-ons who have stepped up. -
I want to believe in a quick turnaround. However, Christian Hackenberg. That's the five star qb recruit that the former Lions coach hauled in. And he was gone before Penn State had recovered. If you're talking Franklin era, bad news there is that we are recruiting players needing development not ready made studs who can roll in and lift us to a higher level. Franklin recruits at a higher level.

To any parents out there: what do you guys think about the remote learning your district is having your kids do? Positives, negatives?
The feedback I hear is normally good because people realize it isn't my call. I'm just doing what the district says.
But my wife is part "West Omaha Moms" FB group and she says the overall perception is "not good". Many parents in the group seem to be frustrated with the time requirements...

@krc1995 yeah, that’s no good!
Im definitely glad we’re doing something. I’m giving kids 2 options for assignments: a computer based one they can do on the couch or a more active one like measuring rooms in there homes or taking inventory of light bulbs.
I don’t want to give too much, but we’re also not done with school. My only “issue” is our districts “requirement” to use Zoom to meet for class. I normally “lectured” my classes for about 5 minutes (maybe a half hour per week), now I’m holding them captive for an hour a week. I’m making it work, but a learning curve for sure!
-
My kid's school is using google classroom, which hasn't had any issues that I'm aware of but I hear a lot of complaints about zoom from other parents. His 3rd grade teacher gives assignments for the whole week on Monday morning and then meets for 30-60 every M-W-F. My son really likes it because he can get the work done early in the week and basically have a long weekend.
Since he's getting things done so early in the week, I've been making him watch an educational video with me every day that he gets to pick (he usually picks science or nature).

Anyone have any advice on a basketball offense for 1st and 2nd graders with very limited organized basketball experience?

Seeing articles about packed beaches over the 4th. My question: why on Earth do people enjoy this? Pandemic or not...
This is like trying to manage getting in and out of North Stadium without the enjoyment of attending an actual football game...

Tonight I learned that smoked pork chops do not require as much rub as a pork butt. Wow! I'm drinking a beer per bite!

Anyone really familiar with KC? My wife, kids (age 8) and I are staying at "The Plaza" area over New Years. Is there anything to do besides shop and swim at the hotel, the weather is supposed to be cold! Any ideas or suggestions?

All these are great ideas. My choice for BBQ is JackStack. I always go to the original store on 135th in Martin City, a few miles east of State Line. That would be quite a ways from where you are staying but the smells in that 50+ year old building are incredible. You feel like you are inside the smoker.

Is the "Go (bump), Big (set), RED! (spike) chant new? I'll admit I don't really watch Husker VB that much, but that distracted me as just a viewer. I can't imagine how nuts that would drive me if I was playing.

Funny story. Like 1990 or 1992, Penn State got sent to the Coliseum for a regional. They were 42-0, and had lost like four sets all season. We could only fit 4,000 in the Coliseum for a match, but we sounded like 10,000.
Maybe game two of the match, Penn State has four hits that were seen by everyone but the officials. Pettit was pissed, Noth was pissed, and the fans were livid. PSU got the point, there was an argument after the play, bedlam. But the call stood.
So the fans started helping the officials out. Every time Penn State touched the ball, we counted. ONE. TWO. THREE. Next time, ONE, TWO, THREE. Louder and louder. It was the loudest sporting event I've ever been to. Dust was literally falling off the roof beams.
It rattled Penn State. Bad. Steve, the PA announcer, had to tell the fans to stop. So we stopped. But every hit, every block, every dig, we erupted. Noise like a wall.
We beat Penn State 3-1 that night. I think my ears were ringing for two days afterward.
I know this isn't the same thing. I just think it's a cool story.

Well, I'm officially "old balls". This halftime show is painful!

I love Big Red Wrap Up, but I might love the parody even more

I was streaming the Wyoming vs. NM game last night and got a message that my "streaming time had expired" after what i guess was a half-hour. Do I still need to sign up for ESPN+ to stream games even with a cableTV account?

@Enhance That's what makes me nervous. Mooching my sister's passwords "may or may not" be what I was doing. But I did have that F1 racing on for about 2 hours this morning with no problem. Maybe they handle the "higher rated" programming differently? I'll see how the games go this Thursday, luckily I'll have access to TV's hooked up to cable on Saturday.

Once we get back to normal, I hope "technology" is removed from the classroom!
We've spent that past 15+ years hearing about how we need to integrate tech into our classrooms.
Now, at the drop of a hat, we are required to spend 30 minutes a day teaching "face to face" via computer. Using that time to have kids watch videos and use the web aren't recommended....wtf????

Yeah, your principal's idea is sane! The other idea is insane.
Can you give them logic puzzles to do in the breakout rooms, I mean, that is at least in the ballpark of what you team, sort of. You are in a tough spot!
I am so glad I teach Sanskrit...Something that is easy to do over zoom and super useful!
-
I'm adamant that what I teach will still be industrial tech. I have a coworker at a different school doing things like "logic" puzzles and inventor research.
It the district leaved it to me to do whatever I want, I'm going to the pasture with a bucket of balls and giving a Zoom lesson on "angles" and "measurement", a.k.a. loft and distance...
I'm licking my chops over an admin saying I should make my lessons more "engaging" and "fun"!

I know there are a lot of things going on today with the press conference and Eichorst's letter, but does anyone know who the committment is that was picked up today?

I'm starting to think a certain fan of a conference foe is just trying to hit post #250...

Apparently IU's AD was upset that Frost mentioned how he'd like to play Indiana instead of OSU more. By just comparing the scores, I don't see how Glass felt "vindicated". Oh well ''\o/''

Is "the shed" gone? Was finally going to ask for a password to see what the hell happened. Now I cant find it; probably for the better...

Taking one of my boys to his first real Husker game against Iowa (he has gone to the last 3 Spring Games). He was excited to hear that Nebraska will actually be playing another team, and even more excited to hear it is against Iowa. Now for "the sad": he isn't sure if he wants to wear red or black. This is a big game for the future of my household, Mr. Riley!!!

Is there anything more awkward than a holiday party for your spouse's work? Especially when the coworkers centralize in the kitchen and leave the spouses, who don't know each other, to our own devices? ....That was a long 3 hours....

How does an "unnamed coached" purchase tickets for an "unidentified" team to attend the concert of a "certain" artist, when he isn't even able to buy them a book?
I'm really confused about how the NCAA works.....
