What's the level of competition? He's the largest and most athletic person on the field in every highlight. Loved Larry as a Husker.

@Husker Richard, he plays in the largest the class in Virginia, so the competition should be very good.

Is he being recruited? I'd take another Asante in a heart beat.

Edit: Saw we just offered, cool.

  2. Lol why did someone laugh at 10-12 posts I typed up from two years ago?

I was trying some coding a couple years ago where I timestamped some laughs on posts to occur 2 years into the future.  It looks like it worked!

Ever think someone may have been in a coma for 2 years and is trying to catch up?

  3. My gut feeling is that they flipped Avante Dickerson. I hope I am right.

I agree. Decoy73.  Dickerson is good but Heinrich has a great ceiling and wants to be here.  Really like the bodies Fisher has in his room.  Our secondary will be good

I hear you, man. We're all frustrated.  Truth is, no side of the ball is getting it done.

      Illinois held them to 6.

Both sides busted at critical moments. The defense just had some of the worst. 96 yards and 82 yards. Ouch!

  5. Nebraska getting some run on the Laker's telecast. Side note: Tom Dienhart got roasted on twitter. The BIG is starting to rub me the wrong way.

  6. Nebraska is going to have the fastest Offense in the BIG next year. I don't think it will be close either. They became elite in terms of speed on O within 2 months. Incredible.

@Vince R. Probably still Ohio State.

I just don't see every new recruit playing right away, and the ones who do will still be learning, along with the rest of the team.  So they'll likely be thinking too much to go full speed.

  7. Nebraska offered a ton of good players today.

  8. Nothing has been confirmed but based on what I've gathered from coaches and recruiting people I know, OV's aren't happening for the 2021 class. I would say take it to the bank.

I find it pretty ludicrous that that threat of future violence isn't enough to at least have this guy investigated.

    4. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

Valid point @knapplc. Hopefully it means they are pressuring those who can do something about it.

I find it hard to believe that the University doesn't have some code of conduct provision they can enforce. It very well may not prevent him from acting on campus even if he is expelled but at least they would've done everything in their power to try to prevent a tragedy.

  10. There is something going on in that state, in that city, and within those walls that simply keeps this program from having balls, and the ability to play under pressure. They are literally playing better when the game is over because they are puss cakes, and cannot play loose. I question the campus environment and what life is like for these players. These issues supersede staffs and rosters. What is happening on that campus that breeds the same mentality; that translates to the exact kind of play on game day?

I think we all need to chill out and let Frost do his thing. Really think you are going too deep here. The roster may be turned over but does that translate to wins right away? Not many squads win alot of games with this little help from upperclassman. Attrition has decimated our upperclassmen.

    3. Vince R.

      Vince R.

@NebfanaticI don't think it has anything to do with the staff. I don't think I am going too deep because I am bringing up a program theme over the last 20 years. There is a difference between talent and will to play. Nebraska should never have a showing like that. The game plans are fine. The schemes are actually good. These players are rewired in a negative way once they move in. The competitive nature, and will to fight is stripped. This program has zero aggression, and has become a counter punch team. Hence why Nebraska is known to playing down to their opponents, or gets shell shocked when WI, tOSU, or Iowa punches first, and the game is over by the second quarter. There is something that is fundamentally broken on that campus, and it has zero to do with S&C, recruiting rankings, scheme, 3-4, spread, Frost, Riley, or Pelini.

    4. Nebfanatic

      Nebfanatic

If what you are saying is true then Frost has no hope. Again, I think you are over thinking it. Once Frost gets guys who were winners in HS in here and has a culture top to bottom he wants things will change around here.

  11. There was a true QB battle this fall, and it was extremely close. The frog that was in Frost's throat during the presser, is showing up on Saturdays.

I need to post something in the rumor board.

  12. This program will suffer until the defeatist psyche is completely removed. It has never been about talent or buy in. That psyche permeates into everything and serves as a membrane. Once it is removed, everything else starts to function normally. It is truly up to the players if they want to right this ship.

    1. 4skers89

      4skers89

I agree but do you think the current players can right the ship?  I'm convinced the players that have been in the program for the past 3 years are beyond fixing.

    2. Vince R.

      Vince R.

@4skers89 I agree with you. I think the ones who are Juniors and Seniors, are ruined. Aside from a select few.

  13. This recruiting season is such a whirlwind. I feel like I don't know who to key in on, or who to expect a commitment from.

I saw an offer tweet that referred to us as Huskers instead of Huskies, #Progress.

  14. This roster is jaded. Not enough alpha talents and guys who like to punch first. This is the Nebraska program and something Frost has to overcome in those walls.

  16. What if I told you that Nebraska's game against tOSU last year had the makings of a convincing win (17-24 pts) favoring the Big Red. I really hope the self inflicting play is behind this program. It would make all the difference.

@Vince R. you can’t selectively say that NU “forced” Ohio State into mistakes, while NU’s mistakes were self-inflicted. It can’t go both ways. Jackson’s INT of Haskins was more of a combination terrible read and terrible throw by Haskins.

Yes, looking back at the game, NU had chances to win the game. But to say that NU controlled the game and our mistakes were the sole reason we lost is not genuine. Ohio State led for way more time during the game, and had a good chunk of that time leading by 2 scores. That is controlling the game. NU took advantage of Ohio State mistakes to lead at 2 times during the game, but the lead was never more than 1 score, and it was less than 25% of the games.

Ohio State didn’t seem very interested in playing a 2-win team, and their lack of effort and crispness showed that. Give NU a ton of credit for making it a close game and having an opportunity to win. But to say that NU “should have won” is not a correct statement.

    3. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

Sorry about the multiple posts of the same thing. Yes, NU had an opportunity to beat Ohio State, just like they had an opportunity to win by 17-21 points. Both teams made mistakes and left points on the field. In the end, I think the better team still won, but it was great to see NU hang in and play them down to the wire, with an opportunity to win.

    4. Vince R.

      Vince R.

@ColoradoHuskIt's all good. I figured a new comment would come in. I think tOSU was the better team. Still, the opportunity is frustrating, but enlightening to what Nebraska could do. Nebraska out coached them, but execution simply wasn't on par with it. I don't expect that to be the case anymore. We have a ton to look forward to.

@man eating mastodonYou get it pretty fast, and then you learn who gets it first. Tea leaf info for sure, and Munson was the first to swing the Mathis pendulum towards Nebraska recently. Then 247 came in a day later.

  19. It comes with a heavy heart to announce that my nephew Preston Justin Hebenstreit passed away on December 6, 2017. He was barely a week old and attributed a rare blood clotting condition he could not overcome. Your prayers meant a lot to me during his time in the hospital. My family, especially my sister and husband need community. I know how compassionate Nebraska fans are and how we put the quality of life above everything else. If you would like to reach out, I am providing our social media handles as we have announced his passing publicly just a few moments ago. My sister's instagram is valyn_chanel and my instagram is vince_mike. Thank you guys.

  20. It's not the players. This is a good roster with a ton of ability and intangibles.

    1. BigRedBuster

      BigRedBuster

Yes, but when the scheme gets WRs wide open and your QB either can't make the throw or refuses to get rid of the ball to them and takes a sack/fumble instead, that's a major problem with the QB.

Martinez isn't perfect, but he leaves it out on the field. Frost needs to give up on the offense or playcalling.

  21. Looking for some prayers here. My week old nephew (hopefully future husker) is in the hospital to remove a blood clot. He's handling it well so far but with these things you never know. GBR

All that matters is if there is a try-hard walkon that will block for the RB's who can't break long runs because the OL can't get a push.
